The issue is caused by the theme used, not by sddm itself.
If the theme is part of debian you should reopen the issue against
that package. If it's installed by the user, contact the developer
directly.

Whatever it was that generated the issue, after removing the
.xsession-errrors file, I can no longer reproduce it. So I'm closing
this.
Do you think the size of .xsession-error could have triggered this?
I deleted the file on my machine, to have something smaller to send,
and restarted the session to make sure that the file was closed.
