Suspending&locking is the way I use to workaround the issue, but sometimes I do need the machine to be running.
My .xsession-errors is HUGE and contains lots of details I don't want
to make public. I can try tomorrow, wiping it and reproducing the
issue, to minimise the amount of noise in that file.
