I just installed the Wheezy packages:
update-notifier
update-notifier-common
and its dependencies. Then purged packagekit and ...
Now apt-pin above 2 packages and you are done for the time beeing.
Uptdate-notification works fine as before.
It is sad to see how Gnome invades the whole system :
