it starts, asks me for vim vs emacs and open a vim afterwards...).
Looking at your backtrace, it seems you are using pida 0.6beta3, not
0.5.1 from Debian? Maybe there is some old broken install there?

Looking at bug, 545594, as Simon rightly suggested, can maintainer
file request for package removal. Freeze is approaching near and we
either need to fix the bug or let it go (No upstream, RC Bug from more
than 1 year..)
