As of now, it accepts to install concurrently with
mozilla-plugin-gnash but having both installed just makes iceweasel
crash on *any* page containing Flash stuff.

I just made some more testing. I completely removed gdm and installed
kdm. This fixes the problem. Gnome-volume-manager now starts every time
I login. Automounting also works every time.
I then re-installed gdm and started using gdm again. Problem did come
back. Gnome-volume-manager again does not
