I have no clue what's the problem, but could you tell whether this is an
IRC or Yahoo issue? Could you run gaim with -d?
Can you reproduce with a fresh profile?
If not, can you make a new profile that will keep gaim from starting? If
not, this bug shouldn't be grave.

I suppose is an endianness problem as this does not happen on i386, but
