I suggest BIOS upgrade and contacting manufacturer. What is the last
message that grub shows?
Perhaps disk is in some kind of weird state. Have you tried
disconnecting the power cord?

--root-directory argument to grub-install? Did you mount your / and
/boot? Correct syntax is:
