I figured out that this is somehow related to IPv6 support which was "fixed to work" in 1.6.1.1-4... I guess disabling corresponding patch will help. I found many similar reports in Google in other distributions so it looks to be the upstream bug. Maybe you can do this way: disable IPv6 in say

Workaround does not work for me... Explicitly setting: 127.0.0.1 does not help: Dec 23 23:12:25 andrix jabberd14[21718]: [alert] (-internal): mio unable to listen on 5222 [127.0.0.1]: jabberd already running or invalid interface? And no Jabberd is really running! Nothing on port 5222 either.
