I have just created a new qemu domain of sid and installed libvirt
there.
steps were:
install base sid from d-i
then libvirt-daemon-system, libvirt0, libvirt-clients, dnsmasq-base,
bridge-utils, ebtables, debootstrap

I’ve fixed this upstream at http://c.i3wm.org/7b00114 (but do note
that the bugtracker is http://bugs.i3wm.org/, which I encourage you to
use for such issues in the future).
The change will be included in the next new upstream release.

doesn't play well with update-patches, the commit message ends up as:
"""
-END PGP SIGNATURE-
merge patched-dgit/sid into dgit/sid
