The "aptitude dist-upgrade" command did not install any additional
packages for me.
I worked around this bug by using the context menu over the task bar
icon and selecting the Install all updates command. It installed
diffutils in my case. The icon then mercifully disappeared.

- It's far from checkdoc clean.
- It runs setup code upon loading, which is a no-no.
- It requires much editing of ~/.emacs for setup and configuratio

What about when the system is over 'local' lvm volumes and you have
another lvm disk from iscsi ?
You couldn't move open-iscsi scripts before lvm, because you won't
have mounted system volumes

download the packages from the packaging system through web. But for the
xserver it is just unpracticable.
