Upgrade to libsvncpp2 and rapidsvn (0.10) from the ubuntu karmic
repository. These packages do not have the problem and seem to work

much better than the legacy "linux16" loader, since this way memtest86 can
be used on machines without BIOS (e.g. coreboot), and is also faster since

Here's a newer version of the Multiboot patch. It fixes a memory map parsing
problem, and adds support for cmdline parameter (so e.g. serial port can be
used).
It's targetted at memtest86+ (not memtest86), but it can be backported to
memtest86 with minimal effort.
