Attached a trivial and completely untested patch for the change Thomas
Hood suggested (mainly so I can tag the bug patch to make it shows up as
having a suggested solution already).
This patch is against the ifupdown.nw file in ifupdown 0.7~alpha3

Eric seems to have missed to CC the bug report when he sent in his
patch, making it only available if you choose "full text" of the message
to control which set the patch tag.
Anyway, to make it easy to access Erics patch I've attached it to this
mail so it shows up in the actual bug report.

Just wanted to send a note about this bug has already been solved in
Ubuntu, by always modprobing ipv6 as the first command when bringing up
an inet6 interface. See https://patches.ubuntu.com/i/ifupdown/
(They have also added an option to module-init-tools, -Q, to make it be
totally silent.)

Hello Laurent!
I'm looking at the bug you reported against ifupdown,
http://bugs.debian.org/448138.
I can't really comment on the underlying problem, but thought I might
just chime in on one thing.
