On an old Fujitsu Lifebook running sarge irattach alone does not stop
discovery mode, so sysctl should be used too. Now the TV does not change
to random channels any more :)
It's too late for sarge but perhapt etch would find this patch of use.

Sorry, 'extension' should have been 'extensions'; this occurred with all
extensions I had installed.
However, I've just reinstalled some of these and the problem no-longer
exists. This may have been a one-time thing.

Some more information: the bug seems to be localized in the code
linked to pgfsetshorten(end|start), since I get something weird with the
same drawing, but using a shortening instead of an arrow (I draw the
arrows myself, now ;-)...).
