Package: vlc Version: 0.8.4 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable
I have recently installed wxvlc/vlc_0.8.4.debian-1 via dpkg. It will not launch on its own and it will not launch with a file specified. In the past, when I was using vlc-0.8.1, it would only segfault with avi files (as another user recently submitted a bugreport on and which 0.8.4 doesn't fix). Now, both vlc and wxvlc have been rendered unusable.
