[Bug 245797] [NEW] Candidate python-apt0.7.4ubuntu7.1 unselects security-updates sources
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: python-apt After I upgraded from python-apt (0.7.4ubuntu7) to 0.7.4ubuntu7.1 - through Hardy proposed - it becomes impossible to select hardy-security in update sources. First reported as a bug through Synaptic https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/245328 before I forced back to python-apt (0.7.4ubuntu7) to fix the issue. Two minor issues remain: + new upstream version filter is still displayed while there are no longer packages in that category + when reloading back after unchecking hardy-proposed several error messages mention duplicate sources (this no longer shows up after restarting synaptic) ** Affects: python-apt (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: candidate hardy -- Candidate python-apt0.7.4ubuntu7.1 unselects security-updates sources https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/245797 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 119774] Re: no password prompt for share also accessible anonymously
GUEST ACCESS TO PRIVATE DATA Moreover with 8.10: partitions mounted (under a still open user session) are accessible to guests. Guest sessions were supposed to give access to as little private data as necessary. I imagine there's a revamping planned since it's not very useful to need an user to open a session before a guest can use the computer. I think Guest should be a choice on login, but I can picture the big change that would mean right now. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-ati I upgraded an up-to-date Feisty amd64 to Gutsy, knowing of the caveats concerning bug #132716. On reboot with the upgrade I got the blank screen (more exactly no output signal which causes the display to go on stand-by) on X window described in that bug then installed xserver-xorg-video-ati_6.7.195+git20071020tv_amd64.deb which got X window to work, only with bad resolution. I had also activated the proprietary ATI driver in the 'Restricted Driver Manager' menu. Then I could never get the correct resolution through menu 'Screen & resolution'. Chosing the correct 1400x1050 even at the default 60Hz suggested (LCD supports 75Hz) doesn't work. Forcing thru xrandr -s 1400x1050 -r 75 (or 60) gives the same blank screen (i.e. display goes on standby). Installed Samsung windows .inf driver to add the display to the list in the S&R menu but it choses resolution 1600x1200 (unsupported) on reboot and 1400x1050 is nowhere to be found. I tried dpkg reconfigure, then to manually edit the xorg.conf file, to no avail. Currently working with 1280x1024 which is the biggest. ** Affects: xserver-xorg-video-ati (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Resolution issue: default screen resolution impossible to get with ATI Radeon Xpress (regression) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/155501 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Hi! Of course. I have just tried to copy all of my local name cards into Ubuntu One and now it was successful. Before this try I did not updated my couchdb package. BUT I completed a few more ad-hoc test cases and I could reproduce the error partially. 1.) I have created an test name card in my local personal repository. 2.) After that I tried to drag&drop it into the "Ubuntu One" row in the left side evolution panel. 3.) A pop-up window displayed and inform me that this record is a duplicate (because I use a valid e-mail address in this test card) 4.) I clicked on the "Add" button. 5.) Nothing special happened (no display error message) but my name card was not copied into "Ubunto One" repository. I repeated the test case above some times and finally got an error message with "Error while adding the card..." or similar. [Bug 489567] [NEW] System freeze on intensive left-button scrollbar scrolling
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: firefox-3.5 Reproduced several times: keybord/mouse won't work, thus a reboot is the only way out. On repeated scrolling using the (vertical) scrollbar on various websites, Firefox seems to permanently freeze, except that it's the whole system that freezes. It seems doing small back and forth motions with the scrollbar (left-button controlled) triggers this very annoying bug. Maybe it's more probable one hour at least into a Firefox session. [Bug 562068] [NEW] Activating compiz messes up display
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: compiz After yesterday's updates to Lucid beta2 (64bit): kernel 2.6.32-20.29 i.e. before the actual upgrade to 2.6.32-20.30 So as to properly test Docky, I tried to launch compiz via System>Preferences>Display>Desktop Effects: Normal it searched for 'Available drivers' for quite a few seconds then prompted to choose for Previous settings/Keep new. Below, the "Desktop Effects" tab showed both "No Effects" and "Normal" selected. On reopening this tab via the System menu it appears that compiz was not activated. On reboot the display was messed up: * over the desktop, the cursor would be an X instead of the regular arrow * no titlebars, no window borders so it became really annoying to manage windows (esp. Firefox) * no window background/foreground priority: latest window would just stay front > extremely annoying After today's updates and reboot into 2.6.32-20.30 I was able to reproduce this on first try. Going back to "Desktop Effects" fixed the issue, then again messed up. Currently I'm only able to reproduce it while trying to set effects to Normal: the display is only messed up as described above for a while. For the time being I don't know if this is related to my Nvidia (current) driver, Xserver or remaing Docky packages. ** Affects: compiz (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Activating compiz messes up display https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/562068 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 556311] [NEW] gnome-panel freeze on cascading contextual app-launcher menu
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-panel I found this bug yesterday (up-to-date Lucid beta1 64bit) while right- clicking to try and remove directly some apps from the Gnome panel Applications menu (wishlist: menu-editor shortcut via contextual menu). To reproduce: 1. Open the Applications menu 2. Open Graphics sub-menu (for instance, this is how I did and reproduced it but suspect it can work with any) 3. Chose an app launcher - I chose "Simple scanner" - and right click for contextual menu 4. You can no longer use it. Logging out and back in doesn't even restart it. Very annoying: the Gnome Applications menu is frozen and always on top. [Bug 355200] Re: noteboot toshiba tecra r10 - apm (sleep, suspend, standy) not working
Can confirm this happening on Karmic, too (Toshiba Tecra r10-14c). I have attached related dmesg log and xorg log files. Interesting things to note: 1) This was happening for me under Jaunty from the clean installation. But, from one unspecified (I'm sorry I hadn't caught that) kernel update, suspending started working. It kept like that for few updates and, again, it stopped working. Don't remember the particular kernel update, but I think it was related to updates for toshiba computers. 2) Other thing which is possibly related to this defect is that after loging into xserver session I can not switch to other tty. After pressing ctrl+alt+1 the screen goes off, fortunately I can switch back to tty7. 3) Last, this is tightly related to both of previous points. When I boot the laptop with external screen attached, the supspend works. From start, it displayes all the boot info on the external screen until the x login where it goes back to laptop screen. With this, I can switch to other ttys which are displayed on the external screen. Important thing is that I have to boot with the monitor attached, does not work when it's been attached while running. (this last point tested on latest Karmic updates only, don't know whether it worked or not before) ** Attachment added: "var-log-messages" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/39181038/var-log-messages -- noteboot toshiba tecra r10 - apm (sleep, suspend, standy) not working https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/355200 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 463308] [NEW] X crashes with a certain load of Google Apps pages opened in Firefox 64-bit
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: firefox-3.5 Crash occured some time between 14:10 and 14:17. X crashed and I got a console text prompt to log in a couple of seconds before getting the X login window. I was working under Firefox 3.5.3 64-bit with some Google Docs and Analytics opened. I wasn't doing anything else (Skype was opened but I was not even listening to anything). [Bug 432905] Re: EDAC amd64: WARNING: ECC is NOT currently enabled by the BIOS. Module will NOT be loaded.
ECC is a characteristic of high quality RAM chips used in servers (see wikipedia). You can enable this in your Bios, but I doubt you have ECC RAM installed. -- EDAC amd64: WARNING: ECC is NOT currently enabled by the BIOS. [Bug 427822] Re: fsck says last write time in future
Seems there was a regression since Alpha 6. Problem came back with updates from yesterday, and today's updates didn't seem to have fixed it, although I can't be sure since fschk is only launched if errors in the filesystem are found on bootup. GMT+2 - fortunately this lets me retry less than 2h after first boot. -- fsck says last write time in future https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/427822 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
