[Bug 244165] [NEW] /home partition not recognized
Public bug reported: Yesterday I helped a friend of mine (a newbie to whom i showed ubuntu) upgrading from gutsy to hardy. The update process run just fine, but when i rebooted problems started to happen: in a first time, the system opened a maintenance shell because it cannot perform an fsck on another partition (/dev/hda5, ext3), telling "press ctrl+d to continue normal boot". I pressed ctrl+d, and xorg+gdm was correctly loaded, but when we logged in a strange dialog box appeared saying that no /home partition was found, and he could only use the /root directory as temporary home. Luckyly the upgrade process had left both the new hardy kernel (2.6.24.etc) and the old gutsy one (2.6.22.etc.): well, with the gutsy kernel all was perfect, all booted just fine and the whole system was smooth as always. Here is a short summary of the disk configuration: swap partition -> /dev/hdb1 root partition -> /dev/hdb2 reiserfs home partition -> /dev/hdb5 reiserfs I thought I had made something wrong, but it seemed very strange that with the old kernel all was just fine... maybe someone forgot the reiserfs support in the new kernel comilation? :-) ** Affects: linux-meta (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- /home partition not recognized https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/244165 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 375761] [NEW] mismatch between libcups2 and libcups2-dev in karmic-x86_64
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: cups The version of the package libcups2-dev in karmic is 1.3.9-17ubuntu1, lower than the version in jaunty-update (1.3.9-17ubuntu3). Due to this i failed to automatically install libcups2-dev since i previously upgraded from jaunty with libcups2 yet installed. I had to manually download the higher libcups2-dev from packages.ubuntu.com. It was clearly stated in the known issues of alpha4 (http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/jaunty/alpha4#Known%20Issues) that the package is not included. I myself consider that a stupid decision, because the live cd is the primary way to promote ubuntu (and overall kubuntu with the fresh new kde 4.2) but if the touchpad doesn't work, all you can get from your parent/friend/clients is a bad feedback. @ Tama00: you're right: in its own MS having a majority market share is not a bug: but you're not considering some consequences: due (also) to their policies, often we have to handle with proprietary formats and protocols (doc, xls, wma, ecc.); due (sometime) to their pressure some hardware manufacturers neither release drivers designed for linux nor they permit reverse engineering of windows one; so their behaviors influence also people, like me and you and Mark Shuttlespace and John Doe here, that in complete freedom have made a different choice. Public bug reported: I upgraded to Kubuntu Hardy Heron 8.04 (development version), and when I upgraded to version 1:1.2.2-3ubuntu1 of xserver-xorg-input-keyboard I noted that the three common led on my keyboard (NumLock, CapsLock and ScrollLock) stopped functioning properly. The related keys continue working (if I press BlocNum numbers get enabled and disabled, even if I don't see the light), but the leds don't give any response. This happens only in xorg, if i switch to console tty* the leds work properly again. ** Affects: xserver-xorg-input-keyboard (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Keyboard led stop functioning after upgrade to hardy https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/161234 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I've resolved my issue simply setting "ENABLED=1" instead of "ENABLED=0" in the file /etc/default/stunnel4.
