[Bug 78904] Re: crash in OPJ import

2007-10-15 Thread angus73
I also compiled Labplot 1.6.0 pre 3 (as described by stikonas), but my "import
opj project" option in the File menu is disabled (see attached jpg)
Maybe I am missing something?

[Bug 1797782] Re: evince immediately seg faults

2018-11-09 Thread angus73
I would point out that the reporter states (in the bug description)
"Launching evince from the command line without specifying a file also
crashes".

This means that the problem is not related to any pdf file, so asking
for an upload is perfectly unuseful. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

As I experience the same bug (evince crash with segfault, even if I
don't open any file), I can provide more information if something could
help to solve it.

Invoking evince from the command line suddenly crashes, but for example

evince --version
evince --help

both work.

Also please tell me if I better open a new bug.

Running evince 3.28.4 on Ubuntu 18.04

[Bug 675951] [NEW] Brasero does not show disc available as source for disc copy

2010-11-16 Thread angus73
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: brasero

I put a cd with data in my CD-R device, I put a blank cd-r in my dvdrw device.
When I open Brasero and select CD/DVD copy, the dialog box shows the message
"No available disc" under "Select disc to copy" combobox, which is grayed out.
Note that I can browse the "source" cd in Nautilus, and I can even browse the
cd from Brasero if I choose to create a data cd and try to add some files from
the source cd.

I run Brasero 2.30.2 on Ubuntu 10.04.

Attached output of brasero --brasero-media-debug, tell me if I have to provide
other logs.
Thank you

[Bug 672298] Re: OS won't SHUTDOWN, it cycles and restarts instead

2011-01-10 Thread angus73
This bug does not affect me anymore (at least at present, I mean ;-) and
seemed related to the wake on ring feature in my BIOS settings, and to
my external modem. Here is what I found:

- The Wake On Ring function in the BIOS settings was enabled and the bug was
present
- I turned on the system, accessed the BIOS settings, pressed the power button,
and the computer restarted instead of shutting down
- I disabled the W.O.R. function, rebooted the system, accessed the BIOS
settings, pressed the power button, and the computer shutted down correctly
- I re-enabled the W.O.R. function, rebooted the system, accessed the BIOS
settings, pressed the power button, and the computer restarted instead of
shutting down
- I turned off my modem (external 56k) using its hardware switch on the back,
turned on the system, accessed the BIOS settings, pressed the power button, and
the computer shutted down correctly
- I turned on my modem, turned on the system (well, actually it turned on by
itself when I turned on the modem, but this was expected to me), accessed the
BIOS settings, pressed the power button, and the computer shutted down
correctly (!)

Trying the above steps (i.e. without loading Ubuntu) makes me turn out
that Ubuntu was not involved (at least afaik)

- I turned on the system, loaded Ubuntu, logged in as usual, told it to power
off as usual, and the computer shutted down correctly.
- I waked the computer by ring as usual (Wake On Ring was actually enabled at
the beginning because I sometimes use it), loaded Ubuntu, logged in as usual,
told it to power off as usual, and the computer shutted down correctly.

All of this make me feel the bug is not O.S. related, although I began
to experience it just after upgrading to Maverick. This confuses me a
(lot) bit.

At a first glance, it seems that the culprit was something related to
the modem switch, because turning it off and on seems to have solved the
problem. But I can't say anything more about it. Does anyone else have
any idea? Do other people experiencing this bug have any "Wake on..."
stuff enabled in their BIOS settings?

[Bug 1459235] Re: Google Address book: Unable to open address book

2015-06-11 Thread angus73
Just to summarize:

The problem is: Evolution currently (even the git master development
version) doesn't support OAuth authentications directly, only through
GOA.

mmalmeida in comment #1 and comment #11 already pointed out how to solve
this problem:

https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=749974#c4

Yes it is a workaround but AFAIK, and also in the opinion of evo
developers, there are no drawbacks in setting up GOA directly.

So, set up a Google Online Account on your system, and all should work
fine

[Bug 1376154] Re: data grid not displaying resultset is blank

2015-03-18 Thread angus73
Sorry, my mistake. I was not sure that it was a regression, and indeed I
realized (before reading the last post from Michael) that I had this
version installed:

mysql-workbench-community 6.1.7-1ubu1204

Uninstalling it and installing "mysql-workbench" package fixed the
problem.

So, if I understand correctly, I don't suffer from a regression. Maybe
Peter does, but I would suggest him to double check his WB version
before filing a new bug. Does it make sense?

[Bug 40682] Re: My scanner, a Canon CanoScan LIDE 20, makes grinding noise

2014-01-27 Thread angus73
I definitely fixed my problem on my 650U on Ubuntu 12.04 with the help
of the sane-devel mailing list. Don't know if that method (that requires
re-defining the motors parameters) would apply to the Lide20 also, and I
don't know if using wrong values on the lide20 could damage the scanner
hardware, so I think someone experiencing this bug better writes
directly to the list and report here the results

[Bug 877279] Re: EOG - Image viewer hangs system when opening large image file

2012-05-01 Thread angus73
I experienced this problem with Ubuntu 11.10 and hoped that would be fixed in
12.04 LTS. Unfortunately, I can confirm that it still happens in 12.04.
I sum up the behaviour of my system:
- EOG and all the desktop seems freezed when I try to open any image with EOG
(the EOG image loading progress bar usually fills partially)
- when the desktop is freezed:
  - I can still move the mouse pointer
  - ctrl+alt+F1 does not work
  - I can log into the system from a ssh session and restart gdm, and it works
again
- using other programs like f-spot, shotwell etc., the same images are opened
correctly

I agree that this is a critical bug, because it affects the default
image viewer for Ubuntu and it can cause loss of data.

I would also point out that the issue happens with images of different
size, so I would change the bug title, that is about "large" image files

Let me know if I have to provide any further information

[Bug 1032251] Re: EOG hangs in Ubuntu 12.04

I tried to boot the 12.10 daily image but it does not boot because

I understand what it means, but I don't know exactly what I can do to
have it working. So, please give me some hints, thank you

[Bug 157105] Re: nautilus-sendto very slow

2012-09-06 Thread angus73
I experience this bug in Ubuntu Lucid. To reproduce it:
- I right-click on a file in Nautilus
- I choose "send to..." from the context menu

and then I have to wait some seconds (up to 10 or 20secs) before the
window pops up. This is not critical for me, because it's not so much
time. But if I choose "E-mail" in the combobox, when I type anything
into the "send to" textbox (e.g., to write an e-mail address) the
program seems freezeing: the keyboard cursor disappears, and I have to
wait many seconds to have the text appeared in the textbox. Sometimes it
takes more than 30-40 seconds, and sometimes the only way I have to
unfreeze (even after waiting for minutes) it is by killing the process.

I don't know if this could be related to the many contacts (about 1k) I
have in Evolution, and perhaps the send-to program takes many time to
get the data corresponding to the first keys I have typed.

BTW, other times (pehraps it depends on having recently used the send-to
program) the window behaviour is normal, except for the auto-completion
of the contacts that are shown when I type part of a name (or email
address) in the textbox, that does not show anything at all or shows
only a few of the contacts corresponding to the typed text.

[Bug 1032251] Re: EOG hangs in Ubuntu 12.04

2012-11-13 Thread angus73
Is there any other option for me to help in troubleshooting this bug? (See my
previous comment #6)
May I use an older kernel, which does not require the"pae" feature, with the
12.10 daily live image? If yes, which kernel should I choose?
I would be happy to have this bug solved (and to help in solving it), because
my old hardware works fine with Ubuntu with this only drawback, and I think
that one of the best advantages of Linux is to run fine on old hardware.

Reopened because it still affects me in Ubuntu 11.10.
Here are the information you ask:

1. Specific steps or actions I took that caused me to encounter the problem:
run /usr/games/quadrapassel

2. the behavior I expected
have the game running

3. the behavior I actually encountered (in as much detail as possible)
Terminal outputs "errore di segmentazione" (a.k.a. "segmentation fault" in
english), the usual command prompt appears and nothing else happens

Let me know if I have to provide any other information

kind of different CDs before I filed the bug, to be sure that the culprit
wasn't something related to some specific optical support.

[Bug 697917] [NEW] Press a letter key in contacts window does not select first corresponding item

2011-01-05 Thread angus73
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

It would be nice that if a letter key is pressed when the Contacts
window is open, the first item beginning with that letter would be
selected. I know this is not a bug but rather a wishlist matter, but I
don't know where other to specify it. Also sorry if for some reason this
"feature" is intentionally not implemented, please explain me why if
that's the case because I didn't find any information about it.

(Tested with Evolution 2.30.3 on Ubuntu 10.10)

Expected behaviour:
Press a letter key when the contacts window is open selects the first contact
which begins with the corresponding letter

Current behaviour:
Pressing a letter key when the contacts window is open does nothing.

2. install patched upower: sudo gdebi upower_0.9.5-4eyre1_i386.deb
3. reinstall packages dependant on upower that were uninstalled in step 1.:

[Bug 629258] Re: Battery life estimation never comes around

2010-11-01 Thread angus73
Thank you for your help. I attach the screenshot of gpm stats after 20minutes
of battery descharging. I don't know exactly how to provide a "debug version of
upower", but if you give me a hint I will try to do it.
Thank you
Angus

I had this problem too (Maverick on Acer TM380) and using the PPA from
Brian Rogers made my battery percentage reappears. Thank you!

[Bug 577916] Re: lucid regression: does not resume from hibernation

2010-08-12 Thread angus73
solution of amid1999 worked fine for me. I had cloned my lucid
installation to a new hard disk, so the new uuid had to be entered in
/etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d/resume

THanks a lot!
Andrea
