[Bug 1711930] [NEW] system-config-printer-udev enables all queues
Public bug reported: I have multiple CUPS queues set up, many pointing to the same physical printer, with different forms loaded. My queues are named "3hole", "envelope", "legal", "labels", after the paper I load before I cupsenable the printer. Since changing the paper in my printer is a manual operation, I tend to accumulate print requests in, say, the "envelope" queue until I have the time to switch to envelopes. Whenever system-config-printer-udev runs, it enables ALL the queues, which causes everything to print on whatever paper is loaded, probably the wrong paper. I'm not sure how system-config-printer-udev can detect the RIGHT queue to start - maybe by manual configuration? Should it detect multuiple queues pointing to the same printer and issue an error message instead? [Bug 1485168] [NEW] pthread_kill(0, 0) Segmentation fault rather than ESRCH
Public bug reported: The simple program: #include int main (int arcg, char *argv[]) { pthread_kill((pthread_t)0,0); return 0; } Gets "Segmentation fault". The man page says it should return ESRCH. Looking at the eglibc-2.19 source I found: In ./nptl/sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/pthread_sigqueue.c 27 29 int 30 pthread_sigqueue (threadid, signo, value) 31 pthread_t threadid; 32 int signo; 33 const union sigval value; 34 { 35 #ifdef __NR_rt_tgsigqueueinfo 36 struct pthread *pd = (struct pthread *) threadid; 37 38 /* Make sure the descriptor is valid. */ 39 if (DEBUGGING_P && INVALID_TD_P (pd)) 40 /* Not a valid thread handle. */ 41 return ESRCH; 42 and in ./nptl/sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/pthread_kill.c 27 int 28 __pthread_kill (threadid, signo) 29 pthread_t threadid; 30 int signo; 31 { 32 struct pthread *pd = (struct pthread *) threadid; 33 34 /* Make sure the descriptor is valid. */ 35 if (DEBUGGING_P && INVALID_TD_P (pd)) 36 /* Not a valid thread handle. */ 37 return ESRCH; 38 and in ./ports/sysdeps/unix/bsd/bsd4.4/kfreebsd/fbtl/pthread_kill.c 27 int 28 __pthread_kill (threadid, signo) 29 pthread_t threadid; 30 int signo; 31 { 32 struct pthread *pd = (struct pthread *) threadid; 33 34 /* Make sure the descriptor is valid. */ 35 if (DEBUGGING_P && INVALID_TD_P (pd)) 36 /* Not a valid thread handle. */ 37 return ESRCH; 38 In all of these cases, the "DEBUGGING_P &&" causes the "INVALID_TD_P (pd)" test to not be generated, since DEBUGGING_P is #defined as 0. We need to do the test! The Ubuntu man page for pthread_kill says: If sig is 0, then no signal is sent, but error checking is still performed; this can be used to check for the existence of a thread ID. $ lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 14.04.3 LTS Release:14.04 $ apt-cache policy libc6 libc6: Installed: 2.19-0ubuntu6.6 Candidate: 2.19-0ubuntu6.6 Version table: *** 2.19-0ubuntu6.6 0 500 http://ca.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ trusty-updates/main amd64 Packages 500 http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ trusty-security/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 2.19-0ubuntu6 0 500 http://ca.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ trusty/main amd64 Packages ** Affects: glibc (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1485168 Title: pthread_kill(0,0) Segmentation fault rather than ESRCH To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/glibc/+bug/1485168/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1049463] Re: update-manager doesn't update "last updated"
By doing "sudo apt-get update -V", I saw the error message: W: A error occurred during the signature verification. The repository is not updated and the previous index files will be used. GPG error: http://deb.torproject.org oneiric InRelease: The following signatures were invalid: KEYEXPIRED 1346668560 KEYEXPIRED 1346668560 KEYEXPIRED 1346668560 KEYEXPIRED 1346668560 When I #'d the torproject lines I had in /etc/apt/sources.list, _my_ problem went away. [Bug 907471] [NEW] Bad default installation harms Update Manager
Public bug reported: Since I installed apt-listchanges, when I run update-manager, update- manager seems to hang (pause without end) displaying its "Applying changes" window. When I opened the "Details", I was shown a single line of text "(END) /tmp/". After expanding the window, I found it was apt-listchange's output, put through apt-listchange's pager, which was waiting for my input. This violates the Principle of Least Surprise. Prior to my installation of apt-listchanges, update-manager ran without any keyboard input, after installing apt-listchanges, update-manager does not. [Bug 705753] [NEW] Multiple popups
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: firefox When I restart firefox and wander off, when I return I have multiple (I've actually witnessed 6, 9 and 15) "Password Required" popups, all asking me for the password for the System Security Device. Since these popups appear on any open screen, they confuse me. How can I tell which of my many open (and restored) tabs want access to my stored passwords? How can I tell which popup to answer? I don't want to type my password multiple times. When I try to reduce the number of popups to one by clicking Cancel, I find I must guess the right order to Cancel them. If I click Cancel out- of-order it's ignored. What's the upper limit on the number of popups asking for the same password? Why aren't the "Please enter the password for the System Security Device" popups numbered, timestamped, tagged with a URL, or, unique? walt@aardvark:~(0)$ lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS Release:10.04 walt@aardvark:~(0)$ apt-cache policy firefox firefox: Installed: 3.6.13+build3+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.10.04.1 Candidate: 3.6.13+build3+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.10.04.1 Version table: *** 3.6.13+build3+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.10.04.1 0 500 http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid-security/main Packages 500 http://ca.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid-updates/main Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 3.6.3+nobinonly-0ubuntu4 0 500 http://ca.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid/main Packages 3.6+nobinonly-0ubuntu1~mfs~lucid1 0 500 http://ppa.launchpad.net/mozillateam/firefox-stable/ubuntu/ lucid/main Packages walt@aardvark:~(0)$ ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.04 Package: firefox 3.6.13+build3+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.10.04.1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.32-27.49-generic 2.6.32.26+drm33.12 Uname: Linux 2.6.32-27-generic x86_64 Architecture: amd64 Date: Fri Jan 21 01:15:11 2011 FirefoxPackages: firefox 3.6.13+build3+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.10.04.1 firefox-gnome-support 3.6.13+build3+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.10.04.1 firefox-branding 3.6.13+build3+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.10.04.1 abroswer N/A abrowser-branding N/A ProcEnviron: PATH=(custom, user) LANG=en_CA.utf8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: firefox ** Affects: firefox (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug lucid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/705753 Title: Multiple popups -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
