[Bug 154524] Re: Low data rates with Ralink RT2500 PCI WLAN card
I wanted to bring you some details from /sys but I came across another annoying bug: I cannot set 802.11b mode with my card, so I just can't connect to my router in my home city. When I travel back to university, I'm going to send some more information. So till then just another bug: no speed setting possilibity. No success with iwconfig ra0 rate 11M or NetworkManager. [Bug 154524] Re: Low data rates with Ralink RT2500 PCI WLAN card
I made some additional measurements: If I generate downstream traffic with the maximal reachable bandwidth, and I simultaneously ping my router, I see, that the round trip time of ping is increased by a factor greater than a hundred. [Bug 154524] Low data rates with Ralink RT2500 PCI WLAN card
Public bug reported: After upgrading from Feisty to Gutsy my network connection seemed to be very slow. After some measurements, I realized, that my yesterday at least 10 Mbps WLAN connection speed is reduced to about 500- 600 kbps. I made measurements with my girlfriend's computer, and it worked well, so I do think that the problem is located within the rt2x00 drivers. ** Affects: linux-source-2.6.22 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Low data rates with Ralink RT2500 PCI WLAN card https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/154524 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 96576] Re: VIA Unichrome: openGL applications crash (feisty)
Hello Timo! I tried the new version, you suggested. First of all, I would like to notice, that the driver you provided seems to be not a newer version of the driver included in feisty, but a fork or a paralel project. Unfortunately, the driver you suggested does not support my video card in the current state of development. For your information, I attach the error log Xorg dumped, and also a snippet from >>lspci -v<< output regarding my video card. Here's what I've done (to avoid misunderstandings): I've downloaded the files >>xserver-xorg-video-unichrome_0.2.6.99.orig.tar.gz<< and >>xserver-xorg-video-unichrome_0.2.6.99-0ubuntu1.diff.gz<<, extracted the tar.gz, applied the patch, run configure with the parameter --prefix=/usr, removed package xserver-xorg-video-via, then done make install. ** Attachment added: "Xorg log" http://librarian.launchpad.net/7123150/Xorg.0.log -- VIA Unichrome: openGL applications crash (feisty) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/96576 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 96576] Re: VIA Unichrome: openGL applications crash (feisty)
My problem got solved in a misterious way. After doing make uninstall, and reinstalling the "stock" VIA driver, it just works. I'm very curious about the nature of this problem, because I didn't ever mess with the VIA driver before. Please notice, that I upgraded to feisty from edgy. Could it be a bug during the upgrade process which messed it up? I'm still not easy on the fact, that this annoying problem could (and did) completely hang up my system with the "optimized" version of stock kernel. [Bug 96576] Re: VIA Unichrome: openGL applications crash (feisty)
I wrote , the unichrome- driver was NOT functional with my hardware. You can check that by looking at the attached Xorg log file in my second comment. Anyway, it's just a bit weird situation, because on http://unichrome.sf.net the VT3118 is mentioned as a supported chipset, whilst the driver you gave me explicitely stated in Xorg.0.log, that (EE) VT3118 is not supported yet. -- VIA Unichrome: openGL applications crash (feisty) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/96576 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-via Every time an application tries to use OpenGL (e.g.: glxgears), the application crashes reporting 'Segmentation fault'. With kernel 2.6.20-13-generic, also the system hangs up totally. Using 2.6.20-13-386 partially solves this issue, leaving the aforementioned problem, and providing the possibility to get logs.
