[Bug 178719] Re: Buttons on the left and bottom toolbar overlap in xfig
Yes, its still the same. (Tested with Ubuntu 8.10 in VMware, as my working system is still 8.04). [Bug 278228] Re: The manpage of fread shows wrong parameters
This still occurs in 8.10. Interestingly Konqueror can only display the man-page if manpages-dev is installed. So it looks for me like a parsing error or something similar. [Bug 90405] Re: Lost key combinations in KDE
I had a similar problem after upgrading from 8.04 to 9.04 and using the KDE 3.5.10 from an alternate repo. The kmenuedit did not let me assign a key. As workaround, open ~/.kde3/share/config/khotkeysrc search for the key combination and remove the entry where it is found. After this, it is possible to re-assign the key combination. [Bug 277767] [NEW] APIC error on CPU0: 08(08) slows down system
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.24-19-generic -Description of the problem:--- On some events, the PC, running Kubuntu 8.04 starts to get slow. Top shows that all processing power is shared between some running processes. Namely: Xorg, dd, klogd and some other current active processes like kopete or k3b. Terminating all CPU consuming non-root processes results in sharing all CPU power between dd and klogd. When this happens dmesg only consist of the message APIC error on CPU0: 08(08) I looked into var/log/syslog and counted the amounts of this message. Taking one second as example the message was repeated 748 times. It looks like sometimes it happens even more frequent and syslog only captures part of the message. Stopping syslog, the CPU still stays high and the system responses slow, but there is no obious process visible, using significant CPU time. At least once it fully crashed some minutes later. --How to repeat the problem:- The system were running with Kubuntu 6.06 for nearly a year without such problems. Switching to Kubuntu 8.04 some months ago (fresh install), the problem happened from time to time and seems to happen much more frequent in the recent weeks (up to four times a day). I discovered, that the problem can be repeated if someone selects an iso image in k3b and then its happening somewhere in the process of calculating the md5sum of the selected image. The problem disappears as soon as the system gets restarted. As the message says something about APIC, I tried the noapic boot option, with the result that the system completely crashes seconds (1..30) after someone logs in at the KDM screen. If this happens, the PC can't even be pinged anymore. I further tried the combination of noapic, nolapic, acpi=off which resulted in the same behaviour. -The system-- The system is an AthlonXP 1800+ and an ATI 9600 graphic card, using the open source 3d accelerated drivers coming with the distribution. lspci reports: 00:00.0 Host bridge: VIA Technologies, Inc. Agree. I had the same error message with a Kubuntu 8.04 live-cd. Starting windows and do a shut-down solved the problem. A more informative error message would be helpful. [Bug 159530] (Gutsy) K3b can not burn files larger than 4GB
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: k3b When dragging a file larger than 4GB to a new Data DVD Burning project, K3B complains that it is not possible to burn files larger than 4GB and the file is not added to the project. The file size in my case is 4,3GB (4361MB) and K3B tells me to have 4,4GB free space variable. [Bug 174397] Re: SWScanner is crashing on Ubuntu 7.10
I agree. It looks like the current version of swscanner crashes as soon as it found an access point. (It is working as long as it does not find anything). -- SWScanner is crashing on Ubuntu 7.10 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/174397 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 178719] Buttons on the left and bottom toolbar overlap in xfig
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xfig Steps to reproduce: Install xfig and resize the window so that the left toolbar displays three buttons per row (this is the case if the window is maximized on a 1280x800 screen). Now some buttons of the bottom toolbar are hidden behind the left toolbar, especially the zoom button is very hard to use in this situation. It does not happen if there are four buttons in each row. I am using Kubuntu 7.10. As far as I remember, this Bug did not appear in Kubuntu 6.06. I can provide a screenshot if needed. ** Affects: xfig (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Buttons on the left and bottom toolbar overlap in xfig https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/178719 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 462189] [NEW] libavcodec.so.52 crashes while using a webcam
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: libavcodec52 What happened: 1. Start vlc. 2. Open with recording mode "PVR" the /dev/video0 device. After some time a strange behavior starts: playing stops/crashes/windows can't be closed. At first the video playback "woks", but has a very low framerate, with partly updated images and sometimes false colors. Moreover when playback runs, the "gnome-power-manager"suddenly gets started (i use KDE and never have seen such a behavior before). Expected behavior: Even if a Webcam may be the wrong device for "PVR", a crash is alway a bug, which may not happen. [Bug 417811] [NEW] fetchmail corrupts attachments in daemon mode not in debug-run mode
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: fetchmail fetchmail version 6.3.9~rc2-4ubuntu1.1 exim version: 4.69-9ubuntu1 Mails downloaded with fetchmail and handed to exim4. Most e-mails have corrupted attachments (attachment size is slightly larger than original file) when fetchmail runs in daemon mode (auto or manual (re)started from /etc/init.d/fetchmail) E-mails don't have corrupted attachments when fetchmail is stopped and restarted in debug-run mode (/etc/init.d/fetchmail debug-run). In debug-run fetchmail reports "message u...@pop.myisp.be:1 was not the expected length... The actual length is a bit larger than the expected length (reported by pop3 server) but mails are ok. [Bug 1205690] Re: Default settings for updatedb.conf do NOT index encrypted home!
> please explain why its a security problem? Because a database with all the filenames is stored under /var/cache/locate/ So some stranger could guess what files you have in your encrypted /home partition, if /var is not encrypted. I resolved this for me long ago by replacing /var/cache/locate/ by a symlink to some place inside /home where the database is stored now. But now me affects the missing indexing of encrypted drives aswell. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1205690 Title: Default settings for updatedb.conf do NOT index encrypted home!
