Public bug reported: Binary package hint: banshee When you right-click in the tracklist while playing a track there is an option in the context menu to jump to the currently played track. The german translation for that option is "Zum Abspielen von Titel springen" which means nothing at all - one could translate it with "Play this track", which would be quite misleading... The correct translation could be "Zum abspielenden Titel springen" or maybe better: "Zum aktuellen Titel springen". I can confirm this bug (with another ATI card - see below). Forcing the card into PCI mode using the driver option 'radeon.agpmode=-1' is the only solution for me (even though performance suffers); I tried AGP modes 1, 2, 4 without any results; option 'EXANoDownloadFromScreen' didn't work for me either. I was affected by bug #444139, so I used boot option 'radeon.modeset=1' to turn on KMS. Since then I'm affected by this bug. Public bug reported: When I import a DV AVI file (an amorphic widescreen video) in PiTiVi v0.13.5 the aspect ratio of the video isn't correct (and I can't correct it). [Bug 994745] Re: Power indicator fails to recognise unplug
UPower expects the the kernel to produce uevents for battery and ac adapter status updates but it won't do it on this device. While UPower forces an update for the battery every 30 seconds (UPowerd tells me: 'No updates on supply /org/freedesktop/UPower/devices/battery_BAT1 for 30 seconds; forcing update') it doesn't force an update for the ac adapter. This seems to be the reason why the charging level reported by the GNOME battery status applet corresponds to the reported value in /sys/class/power_supply/BAT1/uevent (POWER_SUPPLY_CAPACITY) but at the same time the notebook will not be sent into hibernation when battery status is critical – UPower thinks the notebook is still on ac power. Since I don't see any power related uevents with 'udevadm monitor' I guess this is a kernel bug. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/994745 Title: Power indicator fails to recognise unplug To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/linux/+bug/994745/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 860509] [NEW] [RV250] Regression: Screen corruptions on X + massive RAM- & Swap-usage
Public bug reported: This is a regression, since in Ubuntu 10.10 (maverick) – apart from a minor bug (see bug #539163) – I have no issues with my graphics hardware and the performance is just incredible. In Ubuntu 11.04 (natty) I'm affected by heavy graphics corruptions in Gnome & in addition RAM- and Swap-usage are far from normal. Since my hardware doesn't support OpenGL 1.4 I'm not using Unity but the standard Gnome desktop. 1. Graphics corruptions 1.1. with Compiz When I use Compiz, after several minutes I see some minor corruptions in the Gnome panel; normally in the beginning only one applet is affected (I'll attach a screenshot) but after some time one applet after another gets corrupted. 1.2. with Metacity When I use Metacity there's one corruption I can always reproduce by opening Synaptic – when the password is requested, the background should be darkened. Instead I see all kinds of corruptions. There are also other, less predictable, corruptions. If it helps something I could add screenshots. 2. RAM- and Swap-usage After one or two hours of work RAM-usage reaches around 40% (of 2GB) and from this point on Swap (4 GB) gets filled up until it reaches 100% and the system is unusable. When I use the same applications in Ubuntu 10.10 (maverick) around 30% of my RAM are in use and swap-usage stays under 10%. This applies to Compiz – if it helps I can test RAM- and Swap-usage with Metacity aswell. Workarounds I. radeon-option "RenderAccel" "off" This option reduces not just the performance but also the problems mentioned above (but they are still present). II. Forcing the card into PCI mode This seems to solve the mentioned problems – at the expense of horrible graphics performance. III. radeon-option "EXAPixmaps" "off" This option seems as the best workaround for me. The symptoms are still present to a extenuated extent but performance is better than with workaround I & II. [Bug 994745] Re: Power indicator fails to recognise unplug
@ Jack: Read "How to Add a Kernel Boot Parameter" (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/KernelBootParameters) and make sure you added the boot parameter correctly. As mentioned here (https://www.kernel.org/doc/Documentation/kernel- parameters.txt) the kernel boot parameter acpi_osi is ment to "Modify list of supported OS interface strings"; with acpi_osi= we disable all strings. Instead of disabling all strings I tried to remove single strings from the list and found out that acpi_osi="!Windows 2009" solves the problem for me. As I understand it, the Linux kernel tells BIOS that its ACPI- implementation is compatible with the one of Windows 7, but this doesn't seem to be completely true (at least as long as the available patch isn't applied). I don't know why this workaround shouldn't work for you (while it works for other submodels). @ Jack: Seems like you'll have to wait for the fix to arrive in the Ubuntu kernel – I hope it will fix the problem for you too… -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/994745 Title: Power indicator fails to recognise unplug To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/linux/+bug/994745/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 994745]
At least in my case the kernel doesn't produce any uevents for the battery or the ac adapter, so I filed a bug report against the kernel. UPower seems to force an update of the battery status every 30 seconds, so the charging level reported by GNOME battery status applet corresponds to the one reported in /sys/class/power_supply/BAT1/uevent (POWER_SUPPLY_CAPACITY). 'upowerd --verbose' tells me: 'No updates on supply /org/freedesktop/UPower/devices/battery_BAT1 for 30 seconds; forcing update'. However, UPower doesn't force an update of the ac adapter status (un/plugged), so that's why my notebook wouldn't go into hibernation when the time defined in /org/gnome/settings-daemon/plugins/power/time- action is reached. Since UPower seems to expect the kernel to send uevents for the battery and the ac adapter, I filed a report against the kernel: https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=54621. As I understand it all that remains here is the reqeust that UPower should force an update of the line_power device in case the kernel fails to send an uevent. If if this is correct it would make sense to change the title.
[Bug 775648] Re: Can't find any bluetooth devices after kernel-update (2.6.38-9-generic #43-Ubuntu)
To test this I installed Ubuntu 12.04 with the non-pae network installation image (http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/precise/main/installer-i386/current/images/netboot /non-pae/mini.iso). I can't reproduce this bug anymore. Since I have no idea in which package, when or how this was fixed I'm going to close this report as 'invalid'. I'm affected by a similar issue on the HP Folio 13-2000 submodel on Debian Wheezy and reported this bug upstream. [Bug 1066211] Re: Screen backlight problem on HP Folio 13-1050la
Try to use kernel boot parameter i915.invert_brightness=1. If it works have a look at what modinfo has to say to about this i915 paramter: "invert_brightness: Invert backlight brightness (-1 force normal, 0 machine defaults, 1 force inversion), please report PCI device ID, subsystem vendor and subsystem device ID to dri- de...@lists.freedesktop.org, if your machine needs it. It will then be included in an upcoming module version." I'm affected by a similar bug on the HP Folio 13-2000 and reported it upstream, see https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=51141 – maybe the provided patch works for your notebook model too. If it doesn't, you could send an e- mail to dri-de...@lists.freedesktop.org as statet above. [Bug 676637] Re: Wrong aspect ratio with DV AVI files in PiTiVi
@ madbiologisst: Thanks for bringing this to my attention. Since I didn't need to edit any more videos I didn't keep track of this bug.
