The problem is still present but the crashes are less frequent. This morning the crash happened with firefox as the only running program. I have installed opera as web browser to see if the problem presents also with this (hence meaning a possibile problem in the plugins). Public bug reported: Since I updated to firefox 2.0.0.10 and today to firefox 2.0.0.11 I'm experiencing random hard freezing on gutsy. The only way to get the system working is to press the reset button. Currently I have enabled some desktop effects. Initially I tought the problem may be in the flash player since at the beginning I had this problem while surfing web pages with flash effects but actually the problem is getting worser: My system freeze at random with firefox open but minimized at with non flash web pages (such as pubmed-medline). As you suggested I deleted the firefox profile. Now I'm waiting to see if the problem is still present. As at this moment firefox crashed two times when I was trying to watch a trailer from apple quicktime site: I first see a messagge "no video" at then after a while firefox crashed, but I don't think this problem is related to the previous (I can look at the trailers from the movie official web site). [Bug 102882] adobe reader doesn't work after upgrading to feisty
Public bug reported: I upgarded yesterday to ubuntu 7.04 from 6.10. I had installed adobe reader 7.0 for pdf files viewing and it worked nicely 'till the upgrade. During the installation apt-get told me that some packages were "obsolete" and needed to be removed (amonf them adobe reader, but also clamav etc.). At the new boot, needing the reader, I searched with synaptic but didn't find adobe reader. So I downloaded from adobe web site the tar and rpm version. [Bug 1776890] [NEW] Some loops between services while upgrading through apt
Public bug reported: While I try to upgrade my Ubuntu through "apt upgrade", it gives me many errors involving loops between services (insserv gives me the output). I've tried to purge grub-common and make upgrade again -> no result. I'm not able to understand well what's happening. The error is raised after an upgrade of ~400MB today. Some packets have been correctly installed. These others (listed in the attached file, at the bottom of it), raises an error. Fan is working with latest mainline kernel. Funnily enough, when I rebooted using the 3.13 kernel, the fan was working. Public bug reported: I have nautilus-dropbox installed, when I close the dropbox folder window (left click on the cross in the upper left corner) the computer freezes (mouse icon moves correctly, but the rest of the screen is still) and the window remains open. This situation goes back to normal pressing the power button for a short time: a window is prompted asking whether I want to shut-down or restart and dropbox window closes, at this point it is possible to resume. Pressing any other button doesn't change anything, except I can access other tty (CTRL-ALT-Fx). I open dropbox folder by clicking "open dropbox folder" in the dropbox icon (upper right corner of the screen). I've experienced this bug ever since upgrading to Ubuntu 15.04, never experienced it before. Pending resolution of the bug I found an accidental solution... I don't know if it helps bug resolution. Since I don't have any Output Card listed in Audo Settings, executing alsa_setup.sh (from http://www.stchman.com/alsa_update.html) it create permanently a new "Dummy Output", obviously not working. I had a great problem tonight, upgrading with software center from 11.04 to 11.10 At the reboot, after the installation was complete, everything was fine, it was just a bit hard to show the unity bar (setting was autohidden): i had to stay there with the cursor for 10-15 seconds.But then it worked, i could also open programms from there. Then i opened compiz-config, because i had some effects for my desktop and i wanted to set them back (yes, they didn't work anymore). In compiz, i clicked on an option - don't remember which one - but without me to change any setting, the screen had a moment of dark and then THE UPPER PANEL was not there anymore, THE UNITY BAR neither. I could only brutally switch off the pc, and when back the situation was the same: no upper panel with me menu, audio etc... just a folder/desktop menu with "file" and so on appearing instead of it. At the next reboot i switched to unity 2D and it worked, and so I'm now. Anyone can help? The previous version of unity didn't give me any problem I'm using a HP Pavillion with Intel® Core™2 Duo CPU T7100 @ 1.80GHz × 2 and graphic Intel® 965GM x86/MMX/SSE2. I would really appreciate any help to start using again unity... and if you need further infos, I'm here!
