I'm affected by the same error too. In ubuntu 9.10 ugene worked fine. However, after the distro ugrade to lucid I may not start ugene and got the /usr/lib/ugene/ugene: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/ugene/libcore.so.1: undefined symbol: _ZN9QHashData13detach_helperEPFvPNS_4NodeEPvEPFvS1_Ei
