[Bug 1768121] Re: Mainline Kernel since 4.16.4 has postinstall script error
This is fixed partly in the the bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1766728 by updating Xenial package linux-base to include linux-update-symlinks binary. No fix for Trusty available so far, but the Xenial fix seems to working also with Trusty by updating linux-base to version 4.5. Other error with libssl1.1 can be workaround at least by installing PPA ppa:ondrej/nginx-mainline. That package contains among the nginx binaries also newer version of OpenSSL package (that seems to be) required by linux-4.16.4 onwards. I used both workarounds with my Trusty box and got linux-4.16.7 installed OK, so far so good... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1768121 Title: Mainline Kernel since 4.16.4 has postinstall script error To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1768121/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I do not get Nautilus to crash with ANY zero length file like: 1. touch test, touch test.doc, touch.ppt... 2. open directory that contains these zero length test files --> no crash But if filename (extension) makes file to be media type then crash happens. 3. touch test.flv --> crash 4. touch test.mp4 --> crash 5. touch test.mp3 --> crash 6. touch test.avi --> crash and so on, the crash is somehow related to media file "preview" generation I think. dmesg: [1376743.693009] nautilus[9409]: segfault at 0 ip 7fe20809f1c0 sp 7fe1fc4498f8 error 4 in libpthread-2.17.so[7fe208091000+17000] [1376891.606639] nautilus[14712]: segfault at 0 ip 7f13593401c0 sp 7f13204148f8 error 4 in libpthread-2.17.so[7f1359332000+17000] [1376911.668554] nautilus[15640]: segfault at 0 ip 7f099eeb11c0 sp 7f09712218f8 error 4 in libpthread-2.17.so[7f099eea3000+17000] [1377082.990648] nautilus[20706]: segfault at 0 ip 7f307e6e31c0 sp 7f304b88b8f8 error 4 in libpthread-2.17.so[7f307e6d5000+17000] [1377212.686114] nautilus[25649]: segfault at 0 ip 7f8465fb61c0 sp 7f842d4e58f8 error 4 in libpthread-2.17.so[7f8465fa8000+17000] [1377522.756313] nautilus[4267]: segfault at 0 ip 7f672fb091c0 sp 7f66f68248f8 error 4 in libpthread-2.17.so[7f672fafb000+17000] ** Summary changed: - Nautilus will crash with error segfault at 0 ip 7f77316a21c0 sp 7f76f81c88f8 error 4 in libpthread-2.17.so[7f7731694000+17000] if directory contains zero lenght flash video files (*.flv) + Nautilus will crash with error segfault at 0 ip 7f77316a21c0 sp 7f76f81c88f8 error 4 in libpthread-2.17.so[7f7731694000+17000] if directory contains zero lenght media files (.flv,.avi,mp4,.mp3,...) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1251363 Title: Nautilus will crash with error segfault at 0 ip 7f77316a21c0 sp 7f76f81c88f8 error 4 in libpthread-2.17.so[7f7731694000+17000] if directory contains zero lenght media files (.flv,.avi,mp4,.mp3,...) [Bug 893838] [NEW] Xorg freeze

[Bug 924042] Re: Dell 1012 kernel panic in 3.2.0-12-generic - Precise
I have similar phenomenon here (crash on boot about after 53 seconds) by using mainline kernel from 3.2.0 to 3.2.2. I also downloaded Precise alpha yesterday and also failed on boot (booted from USB stick). Kernel version of Oneiric works flawlessy with stock kernel and also with mainline kernel up to 3.1.9. My hardware is Acer AOD250 and common thing with this report is procesor type, the system of mine uses Atom N280. I attached "screenshot" from crash screen here. ** Attachment added: "20120131_002.jpg" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/924042/+attachment/2705986/+files/20120131_002.jpg -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/924042 Title: Dell 1012 kernel panic in 3.2.0-12-generic - Precise To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/924042/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 924042] Re: Dell 1012 kernel panic in 3.2.0-12-generic - Precise
I am now writing this reply with kernel Linux atomi 3.3.0-030300rc2-generic-pae #201201311735 SMP Tue Jan 31 22:56:13 UTC 2012 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux so this is OK. But this upstream kernel version taken from the link included message #10 is PAE kernel (there was no plain i386 version for my 2GB system), don't know if that matters? I will next test that 3.1.10 version, I know already that 3.1.9 is OK, that has been already some time my main kernel until now. I end up that 3.1.9 because 3.2.0 crashed on boot like 3.2.1 and 3.2.2. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/924042 Title: Dell 1012 kernel panic in 3.2.0-12-generic - Precise To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/924042/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 924042] Re: Dell 1012 kernel panic in 3.2.0-12-generic - Precise
** Description changed: I'm on a Dell 1012 netbook (Atom n450), with kernel 3.2.0-12-generic in Precise. It does a panic and drops to text console mode 53 seconds in to each boot, a little while after the login screen shows up. - EIP: [] __schedule+0x3/0x620 - - [ 53.700455] panic occurred, switching back to text console + EIP: [] __schedule+0x3/0x620 + + [ 53.700455] panic occurred, switching back to text console For a panic like this, I'm not sure how to provide useful information for you. The kern.log and dmesg files end before the panic sequence shown above. I have attached a picture of rest the final console screen. It happens for every boot the same way, ending at the same 53 second timestamp, and whether I log in or not. Background: I just did an upgrade from Oneiric to Precise. It happened on my first reboot into Precise with a 3.2 kernel. It works to boot into Precise using 3.0.0.16 (left over from Oneiric). I remember at I was seen before quite similar bug report #906993 which I actually marked that it is affecting to me. I have diffferent hardware (DELL M4500) but otherwise kernel oops seems to be same: sysfs: cannot create duplicate filename '/devices/pci:00/:00:1d.0/usb2/2-1/2-1.1/2-1.1:1.0/bluetooth/hci0/hci0:11' May 28 23:05:34 DELL-M4500 kernel: [ 859.767288] [ cut here ] May 28 23:05:34 DELL-M4500 kernel: [ 859.767299] WARNING: at /build/buildd/linux-lts-raring-3.8.0/fs/sysfs/dir.c:536 sysfs_add_one+0xc8/0x100() May 28 23:05:34 DELL-M4500 kernel: [ 859.767301] Hardware name: Precision M4500 May 28 23:05:34 DELL-M4500 kernel: [ 859.767302] sysfs: cannot create duplicate filename '/devices/pci:00/:00:1d.0/usb2/2-1/2-1.1/2-1.1:1.0/bluetooth/hci0/hci0:11' May 28 23:05:34 DELL-M4500 kernel: [ 859.767303] Modules linked in: pci_stub(F) vboxpci(OF) vboxnetadp(OF) vboxnetflt(OF) vboxdrv(OF) hid_generic(F) nls_utf8(F) udf(F) hidp(F) hid(F) vmnet(OF) vsock(OF) vmci(OF) vmmon(OF) zram(FC) rfcomm(F) bnep(F) ses(F) binfmt_misc(F) enclosure(F) joydev(F) nouveau(F) ttm(F) drm_kms_helper(F) drm(F) i2c_algo_bit(F) mxm_wmi(F) snd_hda_codec_hdmi(F) kvm_intel(F) kvm(F) ghash_clmulni_intel(F) aesni_intel(F) ablk_helper(F) cryptd(F) usb_storage(F) lrw(F) aes_x86_64(F) xts(F) gf128mul(F) dell_wmi(F) sparse_keymap(F) ppdev(F) snd_hda_codec_idt(F) dm_multipath(F) dell_laptop(F) scsi_dh(F) dcdbas(F) snd_hda_intel(F) snd_hda_codec(F) btusb(F) microcode(F) bluetooth(F) snd_hwdep(F) pcmcia(F) lib80211_crypt_tkip(F) snd_pcm(F) parport_pc(F) snd_seq_midi(F) snd_rawmidi(F) snd_seq_midi_event(F) wl(POF) snd_seq(F) snd_timer(F) snd_seq_device(F) yenta_socket(F) mac_hid(F) pcmcia_rsrc(F) cfg80211(F) pcmcia_core(F) psmouse(F) serio_raw(F) snd(F) lib80211(F) coretemp(F) soundcore(F) video(F) snd_pa May 28 23:05:34 DELL-M4500 kernel: ge_alloc(F) intel_ips(F) wmi(F) lpc_ich(F) lp(F) parport(F) sdhci_pci(F) sdhci(F) ahci(F) libahci(F) firewire_ohci(F) firewire_core(F) crc_itu_t(F) e1000e(F) btrfs(F) zlib_deflate(F) libcrc32c(F) May 28 23:05:34 DELL-M4500 kernel: [ 859.767368] Pid: 863, comm: kworker/u:1H Tainted: PFC O 3.8.0-22-generic #33~precise1-Ubuntu May 28 23:05:34 DELL-M4500 kernel: [ 859.767369] Call Trace: May 28 23:05:34 DELL-M4500 kernel: [ 859.767376] [] warn_slowpath_common+0x7f/0xc0 May 28 23:05:34 DELL-M4500 kernel: [ 859.767379] [] warn_slowpath_fmt+0x46/0x50 May 28 23:05:34 DELL-M4500 kernel: [ 859.767382] [] ? strlcat+0x60/0x80 May 28 23:05:34 DELL-M4500 kernel: [ 859.767384] [] sysfs_add_one+0xc8/0x100 May 28 23:05:34 DELL-M4500 kernel: [ 859.767387] [] create_dir+0x7c/0xd0 May 28 23:05:34 DELL-M4500 kernel: [ 859.767389] [] sysfs_create_dir+0x86/0xd0 May 28 23:05:34 DELL-M4500 kernel: [ 859.767396] [] kobject_add_internal+0x9c/0x210 May 28 23:05:34 DELL-M4500 kernel: [ 859.767398] [] kobject_add+0x67/0xc0 May 28 23:05:34 DELL-M4500 kernel: [ 859.767403] [] device_add+0x101/0x440 May 28 23:05:34 DELL-M4500 kernel: [ 859.767417] [] hci_conn_add_sysfs+0x44/0x80 [bluetooth] May 28 23:05:34 DELL-M4500 kernel: [ 859.767423] [] hci_conn_complete_evt.isra.49+0xd4/0x3a0 [bluetooth] May 28 23:05:34 DELL-M4500 kernel: [ 859.767427] [] ? __kfree_skb+0x26/0x30 May 28 23:05:34 DELL-M4500 kernel: [ 859.767434] [] hci_event_packet+0x807/0x9d0 [bluetooth] May 28 23:05:34 DELL-M4500 kernel: [ 859.767441] [] ? hci_send_to_sock+0xef/0x1b0 [bluetooth] May 28 23:05:34 DELL-M4500 kernel: [ 859.767447] [] hci_rx_work+0xcb/0xe0 [bluetooth] May 28 23:05:34 DELL-M4500 kernel: [ 859.767450] [] process_one_work+0x141/0x490 May 28 23:05:34 DELL-M4500 kernel: [ 859.767452] [] worker_thread+0x168/0x400 May 28 23:05:34 DELL-M4500 kernel: [ 859.767454] [] ? manage_workers+0x120/0x120 May 28 23:05:34 DELL-M4500 kernel: [ 859.767457] [] kthread+0xc0/0xd0 May 28 23:05:34 DELL-M4500 kernel: [ 859.767460] [] ? flush_kthread_worker+0xb0/0xb0 May 28 23:05:34 DELL-M4500 kernel: [ 859.767463] [] ret_from_fork+0x7c/0xb0 May 28 23:05:34 DELL-M4500 kernel: [ 859.767465] [] ? flush_kthread_worker+0xb0/0xb0 May 28 23:05:34 DELL-M4500 kernel: [ 859.767467] ---[ end trace 3108d64e9b66e8c8 ]--- [ cut here ] May 28 23:05:34 DELL-M4500 kernel: [ 859.767472] WARNING: at /build/buildd/linux-lts-raring-3.8.0/lib/kobject.c:196 kobject_add_internal+0x1f4/0x210() May 28 23:05:34 DELL-M4500 kernel: [ 859.767473] Hardware name: Precision M4500 May 28 23:05:34 DELL-M4500 kernel: [ 859.767474] kobject_add_internal failed for hci0:11 with -EEXIST, don't try to register things with the same name in the same directory. Re: [Bug 548341] Unlocking keyring for wifi asks me password up tp 4 times, every time I log in.
Thanks to feedback for my bug report. The bug is still issue on Natty. I just deleted few weeks ago my Default keyring with all keys and changed "default" to be login keyring (e.g now all my passwords for example to the wifi are grouped under login keyring, not under Default -keyring.). Now I do not need to enter password for the keyring 3..4 times anymore by using this workaround. Re: [Bug 548341] Unlocking keyring for wifi asks me password up tp 4 times, every time I log in.
Hi Pedro, I have this issue still alive in my mom's computer (up to date Natty with Unity interface). If you like I can send you dmesg -logs, configuration files etc. One thing that I have noticed is that the gnome-keyring-daemon has several instances (now 6 instances, which was more or less the number of password prompts when login in today) in my mom's laptop instead of one I have now in my own laptop (which I deleted Default keyring and switched all my keys under Login -keyring). [Bug 566193] Re: luminosity screen on a laptop cannot be set
Still issue with latest 11.04 kernel from kernel-ppa (2.6.39-0-generic #5~20110427-Ubuntu SMP Wed Apr 27 15:27:41 UTC 2011 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux). Have not tried yet any workaround, because I have same Asus UL30A laptop than Kamil who reported those are not working. I experienced quite much short (1..30 s) mouse/cursor lockups with earlier kernel 2.6.38-9 but now with 2.6.39 those lockups are rare. I don't know are the lockups related with this bug? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/566193 Title: luminosity screen on a laptop cannot be set -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 720446] Re: possible memory leak in compiz when using places, dashboard
I can confirm Frank Zimmerman notice that Compiz -memory increases just by clicking continuously the Unity Dash -icon on left upper corner (to open/close/open/close... the dash). The rate is about 10 clicks per 1 MB on my Acer AOD250 (screen resolution is 1024x600, Intel Atom N280 CPU with Intel Corporation Mobile 945GME Express Integrated Graphics Controller). [Bug 566193] Re: luminosity screen on a laptop cannot be set
I tested workaround GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="acpi_backlight=vendor acpi_osi='\"!Windows 2009\"'" with latest 11.04 kernel from kernel-ppa (2.6.39-0-generic #5~20110427-Ubuntu SMP Wed Apr 27 15:27:41 UTC 2011 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux). Workaround works e.g. I am able to change display brightness with function keys (Asus UL30A), but dmesg still prints out various error messages like: [ 92.320754] ACPI Exception: AE_AML_NO_RETURN_VALUE, While creating Arg 1 (20110316/dsutils-763) [ 92.320767] ACPI Error: Method parse/execution failed [\_SB_.PCI0.VGA_.UPBL] (Node 880138e38550), AE_AML_NO_RETURN_VALUE (20110316/psparse-536) [ 92.320788] ACPI Error: Method parse/execution failed [\_SB_.PCI0.SBRG.EC0_._Q0F] (Node 880138e3fcd0), AE_AML_NO_RETURN_VALUE (20110316/psparse-536) [ 92.757691] ACPI Error: Result stack is empty! [Bug 753304] Re: LibreOffice no longer groups correctly in launcher
I can confirm this bug happening on my Ubuntu 11.04 (32-bit) with latest updates installed also just like vanadium wrote above. I particulaly tried to open multible Calc sheets by launching them from Nautilus.
