[Bug 25106] Re: evolution-exchange: unable to setup exchange account

2008-04-29 Thread Mynk
The authenticate button is always greyed for me. I am seeing this
problem on both Gutsy and Hardy. In Gutsy it used to get activated if I
chose some other server type and back to Microsoft Exchange. In Hardy
even that doesn't work. I run into the same issues with the login name
and password on Gutsy.

Moved to Thunderbird for now as it worked. Hoping this bug on Evolution
is fixed soon.

I had hibernated the laptop with the gwibber window up. When I switched

[Bug 162701] Re: pidgin freezes while typing a message

2010-04-08 Thread Mynk
I see this issue on Lucid. I have not noticed it in Karmic or Intrepid
if I remember right. Disabling sounds worked for me as well -

Going to: Tools | Preferences | Sounds and setting the method to "No
Sounds" resolved it for me.

[Bug 328167] Re: [arm] gnome-keyring-daemon eating 100% CPU at login in Jaunty

2009-11-04 Thread Mynk
I am seeing a similar behavior when trying to unlock on Karmic today. I
had to kill the keyring daemon from the console (ctlr+alt+F1). I have
seen it twice today. I am not sure it is relevant here.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Lock the screen - ctrl + alt + 'L'
2. Try to unlock the screen with possibly a wrong password.

I have not tried to reproduce the problem. Will do if needed when I boot
next.

Hope this helps.

[Bug 682636] [NEW] Getting "Your Ubuntu One storage is full. Follow the link below to upgrade your subscription."

Description:
I have freshly installed Maverick on my desktop - 32 bit flavor. I have files
on my laptop on Ubunut One (10.04) and I want to access the same on this
desktop. The usage would be less than 10MB so far but I get the dialog box with
this message incessantly -

"Your Ubuntu One storage is full. Follow the link below to upgrade your
subscription."

I haven't even added my machine yet to the account. Kindly note that
this machine was subscribed to Ubuntu One earlier via ubuntu 10.04. I
installed 10.10 (from scratch) and it gave this problem. I went to the
account and deleted the machine so that I could add it again but I get
this dialog box all the time when I follow the steps at -

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuOne/FAQ/HowDoIAddMyComputer

I did like to ignore it for now but each time the machine boots it gives
me this annoying message. I tried searching and it looks like not many
are facing any such issue.

Kindly help.

Thanks,
Mayank

Are there any fixes regarding this problem in the latest relase?

[Bug 1092123] [NEW] Ubuntu 12.10 - the screen starts blinking after a hibernate or upgrade

2012-12-19 Thread Mynk
Public bug reported:

Hi,

I have noticed this issue after a wakeup from a hibernate usually. Today
I had been using the laptop after a successful wake and then I updated
the kernel today using apt-get updated. I went to the console window
using Ctrl+Alt+F1 and on trying to return to the GUI window using
Ctrl+Alt+F7 I saw this issue.

I have gathered the information using ubuntu-bug linux after the reboot.
Hope this suffices.

BTW on launch pad it no longer allows me to specify the package as
linux-kernel though the search shows it. Thought I did bring it to your
notice.

Thanks,

[Bug 820918] Re: The screen gets garbled after a few hours of use

2011-09-14 Thread Mynk
I tried KDE today on Ubuntu 11.10 on my desktop. I see the garbling
happening much sooner - so it is not specific to the desktop manager. If
I refresh the screen somehow like say minimize and maximize a window the
garbling disappears.

I have changed my setup and I don't remember seeing this issue on linux
3.0.x kernel. I will need to check if I can reproduce the problem. If I
can I am willing to test the same.

[Bug 1163431] [NEW] thermal_sys: Critical temperature reached (100 C), shutting down

2013-04-02 Thread Mynk
Public bug reported:

Hi,

I have had this problem before. I was using tools like Jupiter to use
the laptop (T400) in power mode. I believe the fan might need some
servicing but instead of rebooting the system can the user not be warned
about the issue at say 80C or 90C instead of just shutting down at 100C?

Just a thought.

Thanks in advance,
Mayank

[Bug 1163431] Re: thermal_sys: Critical temperature reached (100 C), shutting down

2013-04-02 Thread Mynk
I had this problem with an older kernel long back. I can't place which
one. The problem was solved after I got the fan cleaned/replaced. So the
problem was really that the system would reboot without any warning
whatsoever. The bug was closed stating it is a laptop issue.

My problem is that one could be doing some critical work and the system
shouldn't be rebooted without a warning or a message to the user. Since
I was familiar with the problem I knew what to look for exactly in the
syslog. May not be a good for regular users.

If you have reason to believe it is handled differently in the latest
upstream kernel I could try it but I doubt it has been changed. Kindly
confirm.

Thanks,
Mayank

[Bug 1074825] [NEW] Laptop reboots very frequrently due to heating or network issues

2012-11-04 Thread Mynk
Public bug reported:

I have noticed the laptop rebooting within 10 minutes of use. I
suspected the temperature as I see the critical temperature reached a
lot of places in the /var/log/syslog. But I notice that this is
increased when I try to download something, run a network speed test,
update the system using apt, etc. I saw today some errors related to
network. I am not sure how to debug this further so filing the bug.

I am getting the fan checked for the laptop tomorrow but I am not sure
about the network part. If there is already a known issue in this area
please let know.

If it is any use the Windows reboots also at times so I am suspecting it
has to do with the laptop after the BSOD. Sometimes it appears corrupted
as well but the frequency is much lesser in case of Windows.

Thanks in advance,
Mayank

[Bug 1075087] [NEW] keyring dialog due to gnome-do freezes the screen

2012-11-05 Thread Mynk
Public bug reported:

Hi,

Each time my machines starts I have gnome-do starting at login. Along
with that there is this annoying keyring dialog that opens but the
screen is frozen as in neither the mouse works or the keyboard. I need
to kill either the keyring dialog or the gnome-do to be able to work
again. I have read a lot of links asking me to delete the keyrings under
the .gnome directory. But nothing has helped. I thought I should report
the issue.

At the time of collecting the information the dialog of keyring and
gnome-do were on. I can probably fix this issue by adding a keyring but
why should the screen freeze?

Kindly let know if any other information is needed.

Thanks,
Mayank

[Bug 1092123] Re: Ubuntu 12.10 - the screen starts blinking after a hibernate or upgrade

2012-12-20 Thread Mynk
I can fetch the latest upstream kernel and try but I can't produce the
problem at will. It is very intermittent which is why I haven't filed a
bug earlier. Today I had to reboot immediately and I thought might as
well file the bug.

If it helps I can move to the latest kernel and remain on that. Kindly
let know.

thx,

[Bug 820918] Re: The screen gets garbled after a few hours of use

2011-11-09 Thread Mynk
In post #3 I mentioned I was on 11.10 beta. Now I am synced to the
latest on Oneiric (11.10) and I still see the issue. I notice that the
problem shows up earlier on a resource intensive desktop. I have now
moved to stumpwm and I am finding the problem show much slower. But the
problem is not gone.

I wish I could provide more useful info to crack the problem. But do
keep the bug open - hoping to see it closed sometime! :)

2011-09-08 Thread Mynk
I upgraded to Ubuntu 11.10 Beta and I see the problem is still present.
I see an improvement as in the screen garbles lesser. I am not sure
about this as the issue worsens after some time. As of now at least the
text is not garbling which means I can read it. Earlier it used to get
really bad.

[Bug 844791] [NEW] Hibernate returns to lock screen on a Lenovo T400 running Ubuntu 11.04

2011-09-08 Thread Mynk
Public bug reported:

I am seeing an issue with my T400 and also my desktop (running 11.10
Beta) when trying to hibernate. It just returns to the lock screen. I am
forced to use suspend which works better. I see some errors on the
console when trying to hibernate. Sharing the same below -

Cleared the message log before hibernating using

# dmesg -c

I guess only the relevant messages should be there. The one I found of
interest as -

"Not enough swap space"

Is that a problem? I have put the details towards the end.

[Bug 637702] Re: Prompted to unlock keyring twice on log in

2011-06-15 Thread Mynk
I am seeing a new problem (actually 2 new problems) around the keyring
on Ubuntu 10.10 (32bit). I login and I am prompted for the keyring and -

1. If I don't give the password in some time the keyboard doesn't work
anymore and the mouse works but I can't click anything. I had to reboot
the machine as I could not figure a way out of this.

2. If there is another dialog that opens (I had enabled cpu scaling and
I got this message on boot that my cpu does not support it) I am no
longer able to give the password. I had to go to console and kill the
keyring app.

Let me know if this needs to be filed as a separate bug. I thought it
was relevant here.

Thanks,
Mayank

[Bug 820746] [NEW] Black screen on boot - Oops: 0002 [#1] SMP on Lenovo T400 laptop with radeon

2011-08-03 Thread Mynk
Public bug reported:

When I boot with the latest kernel -

# uname -a # I am guessing this to be *-10 as I am booted from *-8
Linux mayankr-T400 2.6.38-10-generic #42-Ubuntu SMP Mon Apr 11 03:31:50 UTC
2011 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

I get a black screen. Trying to switch between consoles (Ctrl+Alt+1 &
then back to 7) gives me an Oops.

I have isolated the relevant log from /var/log/kern.log and attached it
along with - Aug4_kern.log.

# cat version.log
Ubuntu 2.6.38-8.42-generic 2.6.38.2# I have booted from this version as
2.6.38-10 gives the black screen

The Oops footprint for your convenience -

[Bug 820746] Re: Black screen on boot - Oops: 0002 [#1] SMP on Lenovo T400 laptop with radeon

2011-08-03 Thread Mynk
Ok I see that lspci details are attached.

I am able to reproduce this problem at will. The laptop won't boot with
the latest kernel. I have to boot from the previous kernel.

Kindly note that the bug report was taken when booted from the older
version of the kernel.

Hope this helps,
Mayank

[Bug 820918] [NEW] The screen gets garbled after a few hours of use

2011-08-04 Thread Mynk
Public bug reported:

Hi,

I have noticed this problem on my desktop (hoping details were picked by
apport) on Ubuntu 10.10 also and was expecting it to be fixed on 11.04
but I still see the issue. It gets really annoying as I can't do much
with the screen in this state - A Ctrl-A and Esc usually clears up some
of the mess.

I don't see this issue on any other machine so I am sure it is a problem
specific to the hardware. I am attaching the screen capture along with.
Kindly let know if any other details are needed and apport didn't pick
up.

If I boot without this fix I run into the Oops. With the patched module
it works fine.

If a patch would help kindly let know what steps to use to produce the
patch (which directory to run it from) and I can upload the same.

Hope this fix is reviewed and makes into the next release.

Thanks,
Mayank
