[Bug 355742] Re: Crash in mesa-7.4's i915_dri.so (Java OpenGL, Runescape HD, before log on)
Yes, Ricket is experiencing a different bug. The one this bug report is about doesn't generate hs_err files. I can however confirm the bug. High detail appears to be working on Ubuntu 9.04, unless anyone can confirm this isn't true I think this bug report can be closed. Public bug reported: With the latest proposed Linux kernel on Ubuntu 9.04 (Jaunty) (2.6.28-15.52) I can't get any sound. The problem, as far as I can see, lies with snd-hda-intel, which fails to load. Using the 2.6.28-14.47 kernel on the same computer I have no problems with my soundcard, so it must be a kernel issue. Actually that was more of a "yes the problem still exists, does anyone happen to have found a new solution in the past 7 months?"-reply... And in the meanwhile I helped myself out, but if you want a bunch of logs I can give you everything you want. On the other hand I think they just didn't connect some things properly because it's not working the way it should at all (not even in works-with-everything-Windows after I did a clean install). And I've tried pretty much everything =P So please just ignore my comment, although displaying the exact same symptoms the underlying cause is very different and not even a software issue. -- no sound through internal speakers hp dv2-1030us notebook https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/377023 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 563172] Re: No sound through internal speakers
Hello David. I've tried updating the sound drivers, but that doesn't work either. But I doubt it's a software problem. My sound has been broken ever since I've had it repaired by HP. At first sound still worked perfectly on Windows, but after I had to reinstall it, I never got more than headphone output on there either... My apologies I didn't close the bug report before, I had totally forgotten about it by the time I found out it was hardware-related. I did manage to write a little program that communicates with the hardware directly in order to mark the output channels. It's not really the most handy solution ever, but at least it works. Switching to and from headphones on the other hand is totally broken in Linux. For that, too, I've done some coding, allowing to switch manually to and from headphones. Windows did (sort of) notice the headphones though, but after a driver update that was gone too. So don't worry about it, the software is probably fine, it's 99% sure a crappy repair done by HP. Thanks for your time though, I really appreciate it. -- No sound through internal speakers https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/563172 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
