Hello David. I've tried updating the sound drivers, but that doesn't work either. But I doubt it's a software problem. My sound has been broken ever since I've had it repaired by HP. At first sound still worked perfectly on Windows, but after I had to reinstall it, I never got more than headphone output on there either... My apologies I didn't close the bug report before, I had totally forgotten about it by the time I found out it was hardware-related. I did manage to write a little program that communicates with the hardware directly in order to mark the output channels. It's not really the most handy solution ever, but at least it works. Switching to and from headphones on the other hand is totally broken in Linux. For that, too, I've done some coding, allowing to switch manually to and from headphones. Windows did (sort of) notice the headphones though, but after a driver update that was gone too.
So don't worry about it, the software is probably fine, it's 99% sure a crappy repair done by HP. Thanks for your time though, I really appreciate it. -- No sound through internal speakers https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/563172 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
