[Bug 305332] Re: digikam4 does not display images or thumnails in kde4
i am experiencing this bug on jaunty, kde 4.2, with digikam complaining about the missing kio slaves, and also in kde 4.3 beta 2 (4.2.90), without any mention about kio slaves. all installations were performed through apt, with kubuntu repos. in other words, i haven't been able to use digikam in any version of kubuntu with the currently packaged repos. ** Changed in: ubuntu Status: Invalid => New -- digikam4 does not display images or thumnails in kde4 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/305332 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
Re: [Bug 352197] Re: ata timeout exception with ahci libata driver (was with 2.6.28-11, but i confirmed it affewcts previous kernels too)
@stefan, I have already tested the behaviour with the mainline kernels closest to 2.6.27-14 and 2.6.28-11. I have not tested any version after 2.6.28-11. In all this cases, using the ahci module produces the timeouts, but ata_piix works fine. If only i could tell the 2.6.28 kernels to use ata_piix instead of ahci, i'd take the bug as solved through a workaround. If you tell me how i can recover the complete dmesg log from the boot sequence, i'd be happy to provide one. actually, i'd love it if you could explain how can i recover the complete boot mesages that tipically go to tty8 after boot, as the ata timeouts are also printed there and it allows to see at which point in the boot sequence the disk starts to hang. In any case, i'm losing all hope with this bug, and i am still not sure if its not hardware related, but i have tested with smart tools and in windows and the drive seems to behave. thanks for your interest. -- entia non sunt multiplicanda praeter necessitatem -- ata timeout exception with ahci libata driver (was with 2.6.28-11, but i confirmed it affewcts previous kernels too) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/352197 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 359392] Re: [i965] X freezes starting on April 3rd
IMHO, please stop with all the discussion about what should have been done, or if linux is ready for the desktop and whatnot. We have a stable release that is recommended as stable to users. ALL users. this stable release has a known problem with intel drivers, the problem was reported as a bug and is being worked on. This is the proper way to address the issue. When a workaround is found, it should be recommended to all users, or if it entails a regression, it should be pushed into the update path as a temporary fix (unitl now, i haven't found the problem again with the updated intel drivers in the jaunty backports). "upgrade to karmic alpha" is not a viable workaround for users, so please, recommend what to do to avoid this problem within jaunty, while the bug is solved. Has anyone bothered to thoroughly check which update produced the error for the first time? -- entia non sunt multiplicanda praeter necessitatem -- [i965] X freezes starting on April 3rd https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/359392 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
Re: [Bug 359392] Re: [i965] X freezes starting on April 3rd
is there any way to check the upgrade path to determine what else was updated on april 3rd? Because we are certain that the clean vanilla jaunty install doesn't have this issue, right? right? I have tested my idea, by manually disabling composite immediately before suspend and re enabling it immediately after resume, and it works (ie, it doesn't hang). I have written the script to do it (dbus is a pleasure!), but i have been looking for weeks for some way to put it in KDE's suspend/resume sequence, but to no avail. I've been trying to contact Dario Freddi (powerdevil's original author) but he seems to be on vacation until ends of august. So if anyone knows how to attach a script to powerdevil/solid power actions (NOT profile loading, but specific actions), please let me know. I have already tried putting the call in pm-utils script sequence, but since pm-utils runs system wide, outside from X, it has no access to the dbus session... which is why i need a way to intervene in KDE's power management services (to avoid some ugly hack exporting dbus sessions addresses and whatnot). Apparently, we have different versions of mysql-server-core and mysql- common (wtf?) for amd64 and i386, and version dependencies for other packages of the complete mysql-server installation do not match for the amd64 versions. see the errors reported by apt below: r...@deckard:~# apt-get install mysql-server The following packages have unmet dependencies: mysql-server: Depends: mysql-server-5.1 but it is not going to be installed E: Broken packages r...@deckard:~# apt-get install mysql-server-5.1 The following packages have unmet dependencies: mysql-server-5.1: Depends: mysql-client-5.1 (>= 5.1.41-3ubuntu8) but it is not going to be installed Depends: mysql-server-core-5.1 (>= 5.1.41-3ubuntu8) but 5.1.41-3ubuntu7 is to be installed PreDepends: mysql-common (>= 5.1.41-3ubuntu8) but 5.1.41-3ubuntu7 is to be installed E: Broken packages r...@deckard:~# apt-get install mysql-server-5.0 The following packages have unmet dependencies: mysql-server-5.0: Depends: mysql-server-core-5.0 (>= 5.1.30really5.0.83-0ubuntu3) but it is not going to be installed E: Broken packages -- MySQL package dependancies are broken for Lucid https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/546691 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
Re: [Bug 141445] Re: Internal microphone not working on intel-hda (Realtek ALC262) in gutsy (and intrepid and ...)
well, actually, the toshiba hint line works, but its an ugly hack, as the channel layout of the toshiba laptop seems to be similar enough to make all devices work (jack sense and internal mic) but it does not have as many options as the ones found in the normal vaio model channel layout. I remember that i could adjust levels separately with the alsa detected layout, so at least the devices that it could see, wroked perfectly. now it can see the correct devices, but the control options are much less fine grained. ah, well. That's linux audio, i guess... I don't understand your question. I have not installed any alsa outside the one carried by the repos, and the problem is there. A current workaround for me is to specify the model to toshiba-s06, and upstream this issue was identified and supposedly fix in an update that is not currently carried by the jaunty repos. Someone here said that the version included in karmic did not solve the issue either. so your point is? Re: [Bug 141445] Re: Internal microphone not working on intel-hda (Realtek ALC262) in gutsy (and intrepid and ...)
kk, thought you were referring to the whole bug, my apologies. Apparently we'll have alsa 1.0.20 in karmic, i seem to remember that the alsa guys said this was supposedly fixed in 21. It's a stupid bug all in all... is just a little problem with the card identification heuristics, as specifying a similar model by hand solves the issue. Ah, well. I agree that felix's patch is superior (apparently the empty buffer's load faster than the ones containing random memory contents, besides the already discussed security and aestethics aspects), but at least for me, i'm experiencing memory leaks with both alternatives. Incidentally, i seem to observe a higher memory leaking with newer X versions as karmic release approaches than in jaunty or firts karmic betas... do you think that a memory usage test in a virual machine will do any good? i can set up a couple of vms and leave them running to see memory usage patterns... Re: [Bug 351186] Re: [M76] [ubuntu 9.04] slow unminimizing with ati card and desktop effects enabled
i've been using the patched xorg, and xorg reports 3% memory usage after 8 hours of uptime (just updated today). I'll check back in the morning. There are some weird artifacts for a fraction of a second when drawing windows, though. Still, better than those horrible delays. Re: [Bug 351186] Re: [M76] [ubuntu 9.04] slow unminimizing with ati card and desktop effects enabled
ehem, i don't know who is supposed to decide this, but i think that such a visible usability bug on one of the three typical configurations (ATI's fglrx) will be a major showstopper for many new users. We need to find a solution, any solution, that does not require googling and installing some dark non-default package to make the desktop usable. I understand that the fix might not be ideal, but whatever is decided, it has to imply an automatic solution without user intervention. If we know that this problem affects all fglrx installations, then we could push the patch as a dependency on the jockey installation process of the propietary driver or whatever. ok, maybe i am not understanding it allright, but it tried disabling powerplay in amdcccle, and didn't see any change in memory use. I was expecting to see a drop in memory use after disabling powerplay, like the one observed when opening and closing paraview. maybe it wasn't this you were refering to? [Bug 1684108] Re: Broken Audio infrastructure on Kubuntu 17.04
This bug is caused by module-device-manager not being loaded when pulseaudio starts. This command fixes the issue and restores pulseaudio KDE integration: $ pactl load-module module-device-manager "do_routing=1" This command is included in the pulseaudio startup script for X11, /usr/bin/start-pulseaudio-x11, which is included as part of the XDG autostart scripts via a reference in /etc/xdg/autostart/pulseaudio.desktop. As far as I understand the FreeDesktop standard, .desktop files in the /etc/xdg/autostart folder should be executed by the desktop manager on startup, which in the case of KDE is controlled by the script located at /usr/bin/startkde, but the version shipped by Kubuntu does not seem to make any reference to /etc/xdg/autostart files. I have tested that /usr/bin/start-pulseaudio-x11 is not being ran on startup. I have no idea how KDE is starting pulseaudio, and since pulseaudio is part of the poetteringverse, determining its execution model or startup sequence is beyond the comprehension of mere mortals; but lack of integration between pulseaudio and phonon (the audio system settings module) is due to that module not being loaded, due to that script not being ran, due to, I assume, KDE not executing XDG autostart desktop files. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1684108 Title: Broken Audio infrastructure on Kubuntu 17.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kubuntu-meta/+bug/1684108/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1317921] Re: Titlebar corruption after window maximization
This also happens in KDE, using kde-window-manager version 4:4.11.9-0ubuntu0.2 Steps to reproduce are slightly different. In this case corruption occurs when maximising after un-maximizing, ie: chromium always starts ok, and only gets corrupted after maximize/unmaximize/maximize. Also, here the affected area can be rather large. If its useful, it always affects up to a similar chunck of the top of the window, but not always the full area (see atached). ** Attachment added: "chromium_fail_small.png" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/chromium-browser/+bug/1317921/+attachment/4118624/+files/chromium_fail_small.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1317921 Title: Titlebar corruption after window maximization To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/chromium-browser/+bug/1317921/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I can confirm that Luke's PPA works with my Jaybird X2 on Kunbutu Xenial. A2DP was not selected by default upon connection, but it is possible to select it manually in the hardware panel in Phonon (Using kde here), and it works like a charm. The only funny thing in my setup is that there's an extra entry for a Jaybird X2 in the audio hardware conf dialog that shows up as unavailable. [Bug 1258350] [NEW] Package BaseX as system daemon
Public bug reported: BaseX is currently packaged to be used as a user application, started manually from the console or from system menus in the case of the GUI. This means that the server starts as a user application, using the user's home dir for database and configuration data. It would be extremely valuable if the package included support for starting basex as a system daemon, maybe ran as its own user, with a system-wide home dir in /var/lib/* as is customary for database servers in debian/ubuntu. I am currently trying to get this done by using service-wrapper (http://packages.ubuntu.com/saucy/service-wrapper) but my lack of experience with Java apps has prevented me from making much progress. This is, of course, a wishlist item. ** Affects: basex (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1258350 Title: Package BaseX as system daemon To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/basex/+bug/1258350/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
