[Bug 198218] Re: [hardy] After suspend sound isnt working anymore
On a Dell Inspiron 9400 with snd-hda-intel, I get the same problem. There is an interesting effect where from a fresh boot, the suspend/resume works fine. Sound works and everything is great. The problems seem to be after I have run Banshee using Gstreamer. Note that I can happily run mplayer or flash videos with sound time and again and then suspend and resume apparently fine. Running sudo /sbin/alsa force-reload will enable Banshee to play audio again. At this point, Mplayer no longer works, with the warning: AO: [pulse] Failed to connect to server: Connection refused Could not open/initialize audio device -> no sound. -- [hardy] After suspend sound isnt working anymore https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/198218 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 279102] Re: Unreliable network connection with B44 driver
I have installed Intrepid from scratch, removing all the cruft from previous installations in the process. My machine now seems to work flawlessly with Compiz running. No dropped connections. I should note that I did have changed the graphics acceleration to from XAA to EXA to solve another problem with hangs in Compiz. This is the major change. I also added a few extra lines which I don't understand (below the EXA change) to xorg.conf: Option "AccelMethod" "EXA" Option "AccelDFS" "off" Option "AGPMode" "1" Option "AGPFaseWrise" "1" It may be that all this has nothing to do with the network droppings, but there did appear to be a relationship between compiz and the dropped connections. -- Unreliable network connection with B44 driver https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/279102 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Nautilus is a moronic place to put these preferences. This is something that, from the user's perspective, is a system level decision. [Bug 214621] [NEW] Nautilus should not be the place to set media policies
Public bug reported: With the introduction of Hardy, the dialogue for setting the policy for handling the insertion of different media (CD, DVD, Photo flash cards etc) has been moved from the "Removable drives and media" capplet to the Nautilus preferences. Nautilus preferences should have information *only* regarding the nautilus window. Setting system level policies here is a really bad usability move. Users neither need to know nor should they care that nautilus is the program actually handling the HAL events (if indeed it is). The file manager is not the natural place to look for this option. Not least because YOU NEED THE FILE MANAGER OPEN in order to find it. >From the users perspective, the file manager is not always open, and hence system level settings should be kept well away from it. This is a serious usability regression. If it is an upstream issue, then a bug report should be filed (which I am happy to do). Despite the fact that Nautilus has this option, it is sufficiently non-discoverable that an alternative move would be to still include the old "Removable drives and media" capplet and duplicate the options (a crap solution, but arguably better than the current situation). The natural place to put options regarding removable drives and media is the "REMOVABLE DRIVES AND MEDIA" capplet. If there is a desire to remove this capplet, then do it all or don't do it at all. ** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Nautilus should not be the place to set media policies https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/214621 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 66379] Re: evince does not enable print
I had this problem (or a very similar one). It was due to evince being unable to connect to the cups server (connection refused). This was apparent when I ran evince under strace. The problem it seemed was due to an error in my hostname aliasing in the networking configs. Initially, for some reason, I had my hostname pointing at 127.0.1.1 and no alias at all for localhost. I *think* the problem was caused when I changed localhost to 127.0.0.1. The problem was solved by changing both my hostname and localhost to be aliases for 127.0.0.1 and restarting. I wonder if evince attempts to access cups with a different server string to most programs. -- evince does not enable print https://launchpad.net/bugs/66379 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
