[Bug 271986] Re: [intrepid] screen brightness resets to 100% on reboot
Rocko, I've reinvestigated the case. Seems like I mistakenly reset the computer without setting manually brightness down before the reboot (I made a reboot twice) and I though that the brightness reset was done at the GRUB stage, while in reality it was reset during previous boot. [Bug 130703] Re: error in gnome settings (gutsy)
Hi, sorry if my info was too incomplete. Here's (I hope) more detailed description: First of all, the bug occured once and does not reproduce. When I turned up my computer (HP nx7400 EY 252EA model), Ubuntu booted as usual (newest rt kernel). I clicked on update manager icon and checked for updates. When the download was over (successfully), I chose to download all the updates that were available. Then I restarted my computer (standard way - by clicking on the icon places on upper panel and choosing "reboot"). The system booted up again. I chose once again rt kernel from GRUB list, then it came to black screen with ubuntu logo and orange indicator (I have all disk checking disabled, so there was no disk checking). After the indicator was filled, the bluebuntu blue login screen appeared. I clicked on login textfield, entered my login, pressed enter, entered my password and pressed enter again. The login screen dissapeared, and the screen filled with desktop colour appeared as usual. Then, before anyting else was visible, a message box appeared, saying, that (I don't remember the message clearly, sorry...) something wrong was with Gnome configuration and some settings were not loaded. Also, there was this message I wrote in the report, about socket. When i clicked on "close", Gnome loaded with it's default gray theme (not the Ubuntu or blubuntu one). Everything else seemed to be working allright. Then I opened firefox and reported it as a bug. -- error in gnome settings (gutsy) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/130703 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 125619] Re: [Gutsy] memory corruption due to late invocation of g_thread_init() in tribe 2 installer
Hi, Nanley. No, it's not an issue anymore and I managed to successfully install Gutsy stable a while ago. Feel free to mark this bug as fixed. [Bug 162977] audacious audio cd plugin has default path for cdrom mounting set to /mnt/cdrom instead of /media/cdrom
Public bug reported: When I tried to play audio CD in audacious, it says that audio cd is not in drive, but it is. Then I had a look at audio cd plugin preferences (Preferences->Plugins->CD Audio) and saw in its preferences that path for CD is set to /mnt/cdrom, but, as far as I remember, the default path for mounting CD in Ubuntu has been /media/cdrom. This can be an obstacle for someone who thinks that "Add Audio CD" option in audacious should "just work". ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- audacious audio cd plugin has default path for cdrom mounting set to /mnt/cdrom instead of /media/cdrom https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/162977 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 120669] No player can play screencasts recorded with Istanbul
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: istanbul Hi, I recently updated Istanbul and was pleased, that the bug which made Istanbul hang on recording of full screen in 1280x800 (wide screen laptop) was gone. But then it appeared, that, though I can record such screencasts, all players I have (Totem, MPlayer, Helix) refuse to play the video file I have saved. It seems strange, because when i finish recording the screencast, I can view it in Istanbul's 'Save Screencast' dialog, and, after saving it to the desktop (for example by the name movie.ogg), the screencast icon is represented by a frame from the movie, so it looks like 'something' can recognize it after all. But when I try to start it, Totem appears for a while, and then shuts down. Other mentioned players don't even seem to recognize the file as correct Theora movie. This occurs only after I choose "Full Size" from recording options. Totem doesn't have any problems with full screen movie recorded with "half width and height". Also, when I choose "Full size", but select smaller (than full screen) area in "Select area to record", everything seems fine as well. ** Affects: istanbul (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- No player can play screencasts recorded with Istanbul https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/120669 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1264114] [NEW] Wrong font and smoothing when Xorg started with vesa driver
Public bug reported: Hi, After upgrade to Ubuntu 13.10 my PC stopped booting into the login screen, but instead showed that failsafe X has to be used because my video driver could not be detected. I managed to work around it by adding the following to xorg configuration: Section "Device" Identifier"Configured Video Device" Driver"vesa" EndSection and it started booting, but now shows corrupted font as seen in the attached image. I just looked at the screenshot I attached and it looks like the font on the screenshot is alright. The screen is only what suffers. Anyway, some new info: 1. the font looks bad always when I enable vesa driver, even from live cd 2. 13.10 boots into failsafe X on my machine, but 14.04 alpha boots OK, so I replaced my system with 14.04 alpha. [Bug 991329] [NEW] My HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GMA-4082N DVD Drive won't detect most DVDs
Public bug reported: Hi, I tried to play multiple movie DVDs and my DVD drive failed to even mount them. I tried the DVDs on another laptop with another DVD drive and they were working fine. I also tried to play CDs on my DVD drive and they're working fine as well (e.g. Video CDs are detected instantly) - only DVD detection causes problems. I have libdvdcss installed from medibuntu, but I think this shouldn't be an issue, since on other PCs, Ubuntu was able to detect inserted DVD drives without having any additional packages installed, so I'm not sure what package is actually in fault of this. OS: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/991329 Title: My HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GMA-4082N DVD Drive won't detect most DVDs To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/991329/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
