I had the same issue (reported a while ago as issue 232305).
The bug is still around, unfortunately.

[Bug 232305] [NEW] audacious does not play wav files correct when output is pulse audio

2008-05-20 Thread Grzegorz Galezowski
Public bug reported:

When Pulse Audio is set as output plugin in Audacious, it does not play
wav files correctly. The files are played, but the output is "gapped".
The same files are played OK if output plugin is set to alsa.

The type shown for wav file I tried to play was Microsoft WAV (signed 16
bit).

My sound card is detected by device manager as:
Model: 82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition Audio Controller
Vendor: Intel Corporation (Hewlett-Packard Company)

[Bug 232305] Re: audacious does not play wav files correct when output is pulse audio

2008-05-21 Thread Grzegorz Galezowski
Hi, mcas,

The version of Ubuntu I use is Hardy (8.04). The issue occured from the
beginning (when I installed Hardy). Currently, the version are:
audacious: 1.5.0 (package: 1.5.0-2ubuntu2~hardy1)
audacious-plugins package: 1.5.0-1ubuntu1
audacious-plugins-extra package: 1.5.0-1ubuntu1

pulse audio packages: 0.9.10-1ubuntu1

These are the latest versions in repositories now, but, as I stated
before, the issue occurs since installation of Hardy Heron.

grzegorz

[Bug 271986] Re: [intrepid] screen brightness resets to 100% on reboot

2008-12-30 Thread Grzegorz Galezowski
Rocko, I've reinvestigated the case. Seems like I mistakenly reset the
computer without setting manually brightness down before the reboot (I
made a reboot twice) and I though that the brightness reset was done at
the GRUB stage, while in reality it was reset during previous boot.
Seems like, the first appearance of Ubuntu logo and boot progress bar
seems to reset the brightness for the first time. When I turn it down,
it gets reset again at logon screen.

Sorry for causing any confusion.

Rocko, in my settings the 'Set Display Brightness to' is set to 1% for

strange.

[Bug 133223] Re: Xubuntu Volume Control - Capture slider not working

2007-10-16 Thread Grzegorz Galezowski
I had the same problem in Xubuntu Gutsy with Intel HDA integrated sound
card.

I managed to ifx it with the steps from ubuntu forum thread:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=268652

Namely:
# sudo alsactl names
# sudo alsactl store
# sudo reboot
# After reboot run alsamixer and make sure you have 'Mic' and 'Capture' sliders
marked selected as CAPTURE ... to do this with space bar and then then unmute
all recording to 100%.
# now the slider should stay at the position it was set to.

I remember to have the same problem with Edgy and to have solved it the
same way. It may not work for all soundcards, though.

The version of eclipse I'm using is from eclipse site, not from Ubuntu

I can confirm this - it's the same way on my laptop and affects anywhere
I can input text . I'm a programmer and this kind of functionality is
essential for me, so the lack of it with desktop effects turned on is
really annoying. If Gutsy really is going to be composite-by-default,
this kind of bugs cannot be left alone.

I attach a screencast where I try to use ctrl + shift +left/right in
various situations in gedit, which results only in cursor blinking.

[Bug 133317] bring dbdesigner 4 into Ubuntu Gutsy

2007-08-18 Thread Grzegorz Galezowski
Public bug reported:

DBDesigner 4 is a visual database design system that integrates database
design, modeling, creation and maintenance into a single, seamless
environment,

I'm asking for it's inclusion in Gutsy, because up to now I couldn't find a
good app for database modelling in Ubuntu repositories.
There is a tool for converting dia diagrams, but as far as I know, it's not
capable of some more advanced tasks, such as database reverse engineering.

DBDesigner 4 is released under GPL2, so there shouldn't be any licence
problems.

[Bug 125619] memory corruption due to late invocation of g_thread_init() in tribe 2 installer

2007-07-12 Thread Grzegorz Galezowski
Public bug reported:

When I tried to install tribe 2 gutsy on my disk, it seemed to hang always
when I manually edited partitions in installer. I then invoked it from terminal
and got the following message:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ ubiquity --desktop %k gtk-ui

***MEMORY-WARNING***: gksudo[15678]: GSlice: g_thread_init() must be
called before all other GLib functions; memory corruption due to late
invocation of g_thread_init() has been detected; this program is likely

[Bug 139554] [gutsy] gedit hangs while editing html file

2007-09-14 Thread Grzegorz Galezowski
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gedit

Steps which I took to produce this bug on my computer:

1. create new untitled file with gedit
2. write a single div and a random text inside of it. (I will attach the file
on which gedit crashes, so I'm not going into detail here).
3. try to enclose the random text in any kind of tag by going on the beginning
of line and pressing shift + , (meaning '<')
4. gedit then hangs taking all available system resources. I have to manually
kill the process to stop Ubuntu from hanging for good (meaning it's not
responsive anymore due to lack of resources).

*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 140739 ***

It happened in my case as well.
After the install, dpkg had problem with gnome-power-manager. When I tried to
remove gnome-power-manager, Synaptic gave me the message:
E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'dpkg --configure -a' to correct
the problem.
E: _cache->open() failed, please report.
Of course running dpkg --configure -a is of no help, because it stops on...

[Bug 133475] Re: text instead of icons in OpenOffice.org (Ubuntu Gutsy)

2007-08-24 Thread Grzegorz Galezowski
Hi,

I checked it, both size and style of icons is set to automatic, but I
don't have an option to chose Tango icon set though I have Tango icons
installed.

The coice I have in icons style is (I'll translate from Polish, so some names
may not be entirely correct):
->Automatic
->Default
->High Contrast
->Industrial
->Crystal
->Human
->Human (yes, Human twice)

The only option that makes pictures display is the second 'Human'. The
rest gives only text as seen on the picture I attached last time. This
is true with all three size settings (Automatic, small and big).

Regards,
Grzegorz Galezowski

[Bug 130703] Re: error in gnome settings (gutsy)

2007-08-07 Thread Grzegorz Galezowski
Hi, sorry if my info was too incomplete. Here's (I hope) more detailed
description:

First of all, the bug occured once and does not reproduce.

When I turned up my computer (HP nx7400 EY 252EA model), Ubuntu booted
as usual (newest rt kernel). I clicked on update manager icon and
checked for updates. When the download was over (successfully), I chose
to download all the updates that were available. Then I restarted my
computer (standard way - by clicking on the icon places on upper panel
and choosing "reboot").

The system booted up again. I chose once again rt kernel from GRUB list,
then it came to black screen with ubuntu logo and orange indicator (I
have all disk checking disabled, so there was no disk checking). After
the indicator was filled, the bluebuntu blue login screen appeared. I
clicked on login textfield, entered my login, pressed enter, entered my
password and pressed enter again. The login screen dissapeared, and the
screen filled with desktop colour appeared as usual. Then, before
anyting else was visible, a message box appeared, saying, that (I don't
remember the message clearly, sorry...) something wrong was with Gnome
configuration and some settings were not loaded. Also, there was this
message I wrote in the report, about socket. When i clicked on "close",
Gnome loaded with it's default gray theme (not the Ubuntu or blubuntu
one). Everything else seemed to be working allright. Then I opened
firefox and reported it as a bug.

[Bug 105573] gnome NetworkManager doesn't see any wired or wireless network

2007-04-11 Thread Grzegorz Galezowski
Public bug reported:

It;s this way from yesterday. I have both wireless network (wifi, intel
3945) and wired connection with another computer which serves as a gate.
The wired connection works which I can confirm by pinging any site. The
wireless connection seems to be configured properly, because when I
enter System->Preferences->Network, I can see all of wireless networks
near me in network selector. The problem is, Gnome Network Manager
doesn't see any connection at all. when I click on it, it gives me only
the "No network devices found" message (sorry if message contents are
inaccurate, I'm running Ubuntu in Polish). I can't really think of any
steps to reproduce this bug (I didn't change anything in configuration
in the meantime), but its effect is permanent, so if you want any
additional info, just instruct me how to gather it and I will.

[Bug 105234] Re: Netowrk manager says disconnected but is connected and working

2007-04-12 Thread Grzegorz Galezowski
In my case commenting out all of the lines in /etc/network/interfaces
helped. I entered the static ip data through network-admin again and it
seems to work quite well (but it seemed not to work with wired
connection until I turned my wifi on and off). I attached my interfaces
file (with some minor changes to wifi network name and key). I dtill
don't know which line could be the problem for gnome network manager
applet...

[Bug 184289] [Gutsy] Problem with eclipse after last X server upgrade

2008-01-19 Thread Grzegorz Galezowski
Public bug reported:

After last X update, my eclipse installation failed to start. The
eclipse was downloaded from eclipse site, not Ubuntu repos, but it
worked allright before. It gives me the following message when I start
it:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~/Programming/eclipse$ ./eclipse
The program 'Eclipse' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation)'.
  (Details: serial 438 error_code 11 request_code 146 minor_code 5)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

[Bug 158969] [needs-packaging] Please package maven for hardy

2007-10-31 Thread Grzegorz Galezowski
Public bug reported:

"Maven is a software project management and comprehension tool. Based on
the concept of a project object model (POM), Maven can manage a
project's build, reporting and documentation from a central piece of
information."

I searched Ubuntu with apt-file, synaptics and command-not-found and it seems
that maven tool is not present in the repositories. I was surprised not to see
maven in Ubuntu Gutsy, since it's widely used for JEE development.
Please package maven for hardy, because even if I decide not to use it for my
development, I still need it to build examples from the internet etc.

[Bug 159436] [gutsy] xfce weather applet is not entirely translated into Polish

2007-11-01 Thread Grzegorz Galezowski
Public bug reported:

There are numerous errors in Polish translation of the weather applet
that comes with Xubuntu. Some things are not translated at all, and some
translations are wrong. For example 'set' (in the meaning of sun set) is
translated into 'Ustaw" (which is translation for 'set' in the meaning
of 'set something to something').

I'm aware that the applet uses some kind of web service, which is in
english, but still I think the translation could be improved.

[Bug 157229] Re: [xubuntu gutsy] xemacs blinks when fullscreen

2007-11-03 Thread Grzegorz Galezowski
Hi, Kyzer.

The root cause may be the same, but symptoms are different. What is
described in the bug report you mentioned, is the behaviour I was
getting for Xemacs under Gnome when I was using Ubuntu. So whlie in
Gnome maximizing Xemacs causes short hang-up, In xfce Xemacs maximizes
instantly, but tabs bar starts to blink.

Again, it may is possible that the root cause for both these behaviours
is one and the same.

Grzegorz Galezowski

[Bug 173841] [gutsy] "leave message" and "switch user" buttons in the gnome screensaver unblock desktop dialog are not translated into Polish

2007-12-04 Thread Grzegorz Galezowski
Public bug reported:

It's really strange to see (after blocking the desktop and moving a mouse) that
on the dialog asking for password there are four buttons:
- Leave Message (English)
- Switch User (English)
- Anuluj (Polish)
- Odblokuj (Polish)

These two first buttons are the only parts of the dialog that are not
translated into Polish,

I have the following language-related packages installed:
language-pack-gnome-pl
language-pack-gnome-pl-base
language-pack-pl
language-pack-pl-base
language-support-pl
... and various locale for applications such as Thunderbird, OpenOffice etc.
(but it doesn't matter in this case, I presume).

An example of correct translation would be:
Leave Message -> Zostaw Wiadomość
Switch User -> Przełącz Użytkownika (or Zmień Użytkownika).

[Bug 162977] audacious audio cd plugin has default path for cdrom mounting set to /mnt/cdrom instead of /media/cdrom

2007-11-15 Thread Grzegorz Galezowski
Public bug reported:

When I tried to play audio CD in audacious, it says that audio cd is not
in drive, but it is. Then I had a look at audio cd plugin preferences
(Preferences->Plugins->CD Audio) and saw in its preferences that path
for CD is set to /mnt/cdrom, but, as far as I remember, the default path
for mounting CD in Ubuntu has been /media/cdrom. This can be an obstacle
for someone who thinks that "Add Audio CD" option in audacious should
"just work".

[Bug 120669] No player can play screencasts recorded with Istanbul

2007-06-16 Thread Grzegorz Galezowski
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: istanbul

Hi,
I recently updated Istanbul and was pleased, that the bug which made Istanbul
hang on recording of full screen in 1280x800 (wide screen laptop) was gone. But
then it appeared, that, though I can record such screencasts, all players I
have (Totem, MPlayer, Helix) refuse to play the video file I have saved. It
seems strange, because when i finish recording the screencast, I can view it in
Istanbul's 'Save Screencast' dialog, and, after saving it to the desktop (for
example by the name movie.ogg), the screencast icon is represented by a frame
from the movie, so it looks like 'something' can recognize it after all. But
when I try to start it, Totem appears for a while, and then shuts down. Other
mentioned players don't even seem to recognize the file as correct Theora movie.
This occurs only after I choose "Full Size" from recording options. Totem
doesn't have any problems with full screen movie recorded with "half width and
height". Also, when I choose "Full size", but select smaller (than full screen)
area in "Select area to record", everything seems fine as well.

[Bug 1264114] [NEW] Wrong font and smoothing when Xorg started with vesa driver

2013-12-25 Thread Grzegorz Galezowski
Public bug reported:

Hi,

After upgrade to Ubuntu 13.10 my PC stopped booting into the login
screen, but instead showed that failsafe X has to be used because my
video driver could not be detected. As I checked later, the 13.10 live
CD was giving me the same symptom right from the start.

I managed to work around it by adding the following to xorg
configuration:

Section "Device"
Identifier"Configured Video Device"
Driver"vesa"
EndSection

and it started booting, but now shows corrupted font as seen in the
attached image. The graphics card is not top-notch, but it worked in the
13.04 release (albeit only in gnome mode with no effects) and the font
was rendered correctly.

[Bug 1264114] Re: Wrong font and smoothing when Xorg started with vesa driver

2013-12-27 Thread Grzegorz Galezowski
I just looked at the screenshot I attached and it looks like the font on
the screenshot is alright. The screen is only what suffers.

Anyway, some new info:
1. the font looks bad always when I enable vesa driver, even from live cd
2. 13.10 boots into failsafe X on my machine, but 14.04 alpha boots OK, so I
replaced my system with 14.04 alpha. Anyway, it might still be annoying for
13.10 users

[Bug 1309773] [NEW] Nameless error when switching to NVidia graphics card from Nvidia settings using PRIME profiles on Lenovo IdeaPad y580

2014-04-18 Thread Grzegorz Galezowski
Public bug reported:

Hello,

Y580 is an optimus laptop.

I have installed nvidia prime and are using binary driver 331.38.

I open NVidia settings and choose to switch from Intel card to NVidia
one. When I do so (and enter my password), I get an empty error message
box and the display gets back to Intel card.

The console prints just this:

[Bug 991329] [NEW] My HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GMA-4082N DVD Drive won't detect most DVDs

2012-04-29 Thread Grzegorz Galezowski
Public bug reported:

Hi, I tried to play multiple movie DVDs and my DVD drive failed to even
mount them. I tried the DVDs on another laptop with another DVD drive
and they were working fine. I also tried to play CDs on my DVD drive and
they're working fine as well (e.g. Video CDs are detected instantly) -
only DVD detection causes problems.

I have libdvdcss installed from medibuntu, but I think this shouldn't be
an issue, since on other PCs, Ubuntu was able to detect inserted DVD
drives without having any additional packages installed, so I'm not sure
what package is actually in fault of this.

OS: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS
