[Bug 370281] [NEW] [jaunty, dbus, upgrade] clock applet fails to set timezone if /etc/timezone doesn't exist
Public bug reported: If /etc/timezone doesn't exist (it's not created on upgrade, for instance), adding a location and setting it to the default via the 'set' button silently fails. The applet's weather indicator (for instance) shows the correct weather until logging back in, at which point the location is reset (seemingly to nothing). [Bug 367698] [NEW] Gimp's color selection resets when the point leaves and returns to the window after using wacom tablet.
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gimp Gimp seems to be keeping track of the palette state separately between the mouse and the stylus. The palette state switches to one set of settings as the mouse cursor leaves and re-enters the gimp window, and then switches back to another as the stylus touches the screen surface. This is disruptive, as the gimp palette is on a second screen that isn't accessible to the stylus. [Bug 319818] Re: dbus-send...suspend doesn't work while X is running (breaks suspend/hibernate from menu)
hyperair, sorry, I should have updated this earlier: I added some instrumentation to /usr/sbin/pm-suspend, it turns out that it _is_ being executed when dbus-send or g-p-m's suspend is issued, but failing with some inhibit that doesn't seem to cause issues when pm- suspend is run by hand. I commented out the inhibit check, and suspend worked properly. But when I enabled the check again, suspend _still_ worked properly: some state changed somewhere, but I never did figure out which hook it was in particular. Given that I can no longer reproduce it, unless any of you have some idea of what to check, I'm setting this to invalid. ** Changed in: pm-utils (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid ** Changed in: hal (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid -- dbus-send...suspend doesn't work while X is running (breaks suspend/hibernate from menu) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/319818 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 303011] Re: [i945] 2.5.1 driver poor performance
http://groups.google.com/group/linux.kernel/browse_thread/thread/d656dfef0d5b46d4 commit a7f014f2de04893f95cfe40fe35f15c8dae4b36e Author: Eric Anholt Date: Tue Nov 25 14:02:05 2008 -0800 drm/i915: Respect GM965/GM45 bit-17-instead-of-bit-11 option for swizzling. This fixes readpixels and buffer corruption when swapped out and in by disabling tiling on them. Now that we know that the bit 17 mode isn't just a mistake of older chipsets, we'll need to work on a clever fix so that we can get the performance of tiling on these chipsets, but that will require intrusive changes targeted at the next kernel release, not this one. [Bug 303011] Re: [i945] 2.5.1 driver poor performance
Noted a patch above the above one, that disabled gem when pae is enabled due to some interaction. Our -server kernel has pae enabled. This suggests a workaround... And having installed the -server kernel (2.6.27-4-server), I can confirm that it works around this issue. Re: [Bug 317781] Re: Ext4 data loss
Theo, does that then imply that setting the writeback time to the journal commit time (5 seconds) would also largely eliminate the unpopular behavior? How much of the benefit of delayed allocation do we lose by waiting a couple seconds rather than minutes or tens of seconds? Any large write could easily be happening over a longer period than any reasonable writeback time, and so those cases should already be allocating their eventual size immediately (think torrents or a long running file copy).
