[Bug 496616] Re: Mediaplayer crushed with "pa_stream_writable_size() failed: Connection terminated"
VLC plays fine using pulse, Totem fails for some videos only. I've found out all videos failing have AC3 audio, most at 448kbs and some at 384kbs. Maybe related to AC3 decoding with gstreamer. The extra packages are installed. [Bug 571707] Re: fsck progress stalls at boot, plymouthd/mountall eats CPU
I think this tool is more oriented towards developers and beta-testers, users feeling uneasy here might post a question or go to the forums instead. I guess the problem is that this bug is going to hit almost everyone sooner or later, and it can be troublesome for the naive user. It happened to me in a meeting at work and it's a bit painful even for the non-naive (this things always happen like this.) It's a pity this bug wasn't caught before release, but everyone's being working hard to fix it as soon as it was detected. I don't see what's different in nautilus-dropbox compared to other packages. It seems like upstream wants to open a potential security hole in our Ubuntu systems. I think people should already know Ubuntu packages are supported by the Ubuntu community, not by upstream, so where's the confussion. [Bug 909488] Re: nautilus-dropbox forbids dropbox's non-free binaries to replace themselves by properly installing dropbox system-wide
Ok, I see your point now, thanks. I know the non-free binaries are already a security problem, but I think it's even riskier having non- free software that installs binaries in our home and upgrades itself without notice. I would expect packagers to make it the least insecure possible, lessenning the dangers, that's what I'd like to expect from a distro that provides non-free software. [Bug 48513] Re: libsexy2 should depend on libenchant1c2a
A case where this is clearly obvious is xchat-gnome. There is no dependency whatsoever on libenchant, not even as a suggested one. Yet xchat-gnome uses libenchant for spellchecking. Result: going to Edit>Preferences>Spell Checking, the list languages for which spellchecking is available is empty. Now that the fix has been released, the update process should not create duplicate UUIDs, but how can people already affected by this bug get rid of the duplicate UUIDs? [Bug 66962] Crash recovery loads twice the browser instances
Public bug reported: When Epiphany crashes just before leaving your session, the crash recovery procedure will, on the next session, load twice the number of browser instances that had crashed in the first place. That is, for example, if two browser instances crashed during logout, two additional duplicate instances will be loaded on the next session, making the total number of browser instances four. This is especially annoying when recovering several windows with several tabs open, since it takes a considerable amount of time. [Bug 66962] Re: Crash recovery loads twice the number of browser instances which originally crashed
> What version of Ubuntu do you use? * I'm using Edgy. > How do you make it crash "just before leaving your session"? What do you call > "just before"? 1 second? 10 seconds? 1min? * I do not make it crash deliberately. I notice that epihany has crashed in either of the two following ways: a) when starting a new session and the desktop has been loaded, the crash recovery dialog appears, asking me if I want to recover the previous browser windows. So I assume that epiphany crashed on the previous session (I might be wrong here). b) when the session is ending (i.e. after having presed the Quit>Shutdown button all windows closing, etc.), I see a dialog : "the application epiphany has crashed unexpectedly", which appears very briefly just before showing the logout usplash. This does not happen always, but I've noticed that it happens more frequently when I've got many application windows open in several workspaces before logging out. > Do you save your session automatically on logout? * Yes. > Is epiphany listed by ~/.gnome2/session then? Steven, You are right, the bug does not seem to occur anymore. It would be nice to have this bug fixed on the next dapper point release too, since now wireless does not work at all using the live cd on systems with cards with the TI acx chipset, and the bugfix seems relatively trivial. -- [acx111] default firmware not working for acx d-link dwl-g650+ https://launchpad.net/bugs/30766 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 61493] Wrong notification area displayed on startup
Public bug reported: After booting, g-p-m displays a wrong notification area icon, which does not provide any information about the battery status (see atached screenshots). This happens both when booting with AC and without. This icon remains unchanged throughout the session, and the only way to get the proper status icon to show up is to either plug or unplug the AC adapter, or when the battery status goes from charging to fully charged. After that, the notification icon shows the battery status as expected. ** Affects: gnome-power-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Untriaged Status: Unconfirmed -- Wrong notification area displayed on startup https://launchpad.net/bugs/61493 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 61720] vesa driver extremely slow after upgrade from xorg 7.0.0 to 7.1.1
Public bug reported: I've been using the vesa driver on my laptop without problems since Breezy, the reason being that I cannot get the savage driver to work properly with it. However, after upgrading from Dapper to Edgy (i.e. from xorg 7.0.0 to xorg 7.1.1) the vesa driver has become unbearably slow. Dragging windows causes a constant and very noticeably repaint of the window, but the worst part is when using scroll bars, on which the constant repaint makes it nearly impossible to browse internet pages.
