[SM-USERS] Sorting search results.

2003-10-29 Thread Mostafa Hosseini
Hi

In squirrel-mail 1.4.2, I can't find a way to sort the results of a search.
Has anybody tried/succeeded in doing so?

Sorting search results is not implemented in Squirrelmail.

[SM-USERS] Error message while searching

2003-10-29 Thread James Grubic
Here is the error message when I try to perform a search:

Search Results
ERROR:
ERROR : Bad or malformed request.
Query: FETCH (FLAGS UID RFC822.SIZE INTERNALDATE BODY.PEEK[HEADER.FIELDS
(Date To Cc From Subject X-Priority Content-Type)])
Server responded: syntax error in message set

All users receive this error when trying to search. I do the bulk of my
SquirrelMail testing from a test account which has about 10 messages in it.

Maybe there is something I can toggle in the server config? Or perhaps
SquirrelMail v1.4.2 is still not completely happy with EIMS?

[SM-USERS] message doubled when moved to Trash

2003-10-29 Thread Ernest Ho
Hello

When I move a message from INBOX to Trash, the message
will doubled in the Trash. Other functions are normal
such as send out and receive.

When I looked into the Maildir of the .Trash/cur, I
found these double messages as:

1067445382.9609.mail2,S=699:2,S
1067445389.M71855P9614V0302I00310017_0.mail2,S=766:2,S

I am using qmail, vpopmail, imap.

Thanks a lot.

[SM-USERS] Spellcheck and OSX

Spellcheck is apparently looking for ispell or aspell, and OSX does not

Any OSX users who have tackled this, please contact me and let me know

Thanks,

Do you have any options such as "move deleted messages to trash" in
your IMAP server? And are you moving the message, or deleting it? Some
IMAP servers can move mail to the trash when you mark it as deleted.
This will cause this kind of duplication as there is no move function,
just copy and delete. At which point, the copy to trash, then we issue
a delete on the original, the imap server kicks in, and copies it to
the trash also.

Re: [SM-USERS] Installing Plugins

2003-10-29 Thread Jimmy Conner
When someone says executing config, they generally mean running the
conf.pl script that is in the config directory, which is the most common
way of configuring SM. To do this, you will need to ssh/telnet to the
host machine, and goto the config directory and do "perl conf.pl".

Another way is to use the administrator plugin that comes with SM and put
a check mark next to the plugin name (you might have to enable it by doing
this next way though), or to modify the config.php file by hand and adding
the plugins to the plugins array.

Let me know if you need anymore help,
Jimmy

There is conf.pl script in config directory.

If you have squirrelmail installed in /var/www/squirrelmail, script can be
found in /var/www/squirrelmail/config directory.

If you have squirrelmail installed in c:\wwwroot\squirrelmail, script is
in c:\wwwroot\squirrelmail\config, but you need ActivePerl in order to run
it.

conf.pl is meniu based SquirrelMail's configuration script. Option No. 8
in that script controls installed plugins.

[SM-USERS] /var/spool/squirrelmail/attach question

2003-10-29 Thread Brian Kacmarsky
Title: Message

Greetings
all.

I was wondering if
someone can shed some light on a question that I have.  What is the purpose
of the /var/spool/squirrelmail/attach directory and can this directory be
cleared out from time to time.   I see alot of files with file names
like: xBqWJl6vo5OsKe047eOPZN4NXmBNbkE3 and such with some dating back from a few
weeks ago.  Is there any reason I shouldn't delete these
files?

Thanks.

It is the location where attachments are temporarily stored during compose
sessions. If the compose times out, occasionally an attachment will be
left behind "unclaimed". Yes, you can safely delete older files in this
directory. Most of us run a cron job (tmpreaper works like a charm for
me) which automatically deletes files over a certain age.

You didn't read my original email completely... you have something
setup your mail server that appears to be doing it... not
SquirrelMail. I suggest you check this setting:

  IMAP_MOVE_EXPUNGE_TO_TRASH

In your imapd file for courier. Set it to 0, and restart courier, see
if it continues to happen.

This is temporally directory used for attachments and spellcheck
processing. You should clean it regularly. Preferably with program that
deletes only older files.

If you can't setup a Cron Job to do it for you (because of payed hosting,
ect...) you can tryout a plugin which I wrote a while back, just never
released.

When someone logins in, it checks the attachment directory for files over
1 day old (will be configurable later) and deletes them. It also supports
having your data directory and your attachment directory the same, as it
skips over any php files, the default_pref, address books, ect... There
may have been a few I missed that it shouldn't delete, so backup your data
directory first! (But in your case, your data and attachment directories
are different so it doesn't matter)

Anyways, I'll go ahead and release it in a little bit since I see there is
need for it,

Jimmy

Yeah, I'll probably use that plugin too. Does it slow down the login
process at all? Or what if us that are paying for hosting instruct our
hosts to setup a cron job for us.. is there an easy way to tell them what
needs to be done so they understand and set it up correctly?

The odd thing about this is that you should only get that error if the
attachment directory you specified does not exist. I'll add in some code
to check for that (which I should have put in originally).

[SM-USERS] Prefs database

2003-10-29 Thread Jodie
I am running SM 1.4.1-2 on RH 8.0 with Courier-IMAP. It works fine
until I try to use a mysql database for prefs. I created the database
called sqmaildb with attributes of user, prefval, and prefkey. The
prefs_dsn = 'mysql://mail:[EMAIL PROTECTED]/sqmaildb'.

I wrote a script to take my current prefs file and insert them into the
database. The insert looks like it went well. The data looks to be in
the database. However, when I try to login now, I get the message list
with the following error message at the top:

Server-side sorting is not supported by your IMAP server.
Please report this to the system administrator.

None of the messages have a from address. All of them have an unknown
date and a subject of "(no subject)." The folder list presents the
following error:
ERROR:
ERROR : Could not complete request.
   Query: LIST "" "INBOX.Sent Items "
Reason Given: Error in IMAP command received by server.

These are obviously IMAP errors, but they began when I made the change
to how SM handles the prefs. Any ideas?

Thanks!

2003-10-29 Thread Max Munton
Does anyone know how to change the timezone within SM? Is there a mod or
anything? I'm in the UK, but using a server in American, and I need to add
5 and a half hours onto SM's time.

Cheers,

Max

Check the Options link, then Personal Information link, there is a
timezone setting there.

Re: [SM-USERS] Can't see some images within emails

2003-10-29 Thread Rafael Garay
First I would read this..
http://www.squirrelmail.org/wiki/UnsafeImages

Then on the squirrelmail plugins page look for the unsafe image rules plugin.

Actually I added it to the 1.5 devel search weeks ago, but I couldn't find
enough time to commit it yet. Next week my load should begin to decrease
;)
Thread sort is added too, and BTW, while testing it, uwimap just blew up
on one of my mailboxes with no apparent reason (I guess there is a
malformed message or something like that). Therefore I suggest to
automatically turn off thread sorting for the concerned mailbox when
something goes wrong, because when it happens, you're stuck, and need to
edit the prefs manually. That's more or less what I tried to do in the
search, where it's easier because it traps imap errors itself.

Alex.

[SM-USERS] First time login slow

2003-10-29 Thread Santa Lau

Hi,

I've upgraded our mail sytem to SQ 1.4.2
and courier-2.0 recently and found minor issue.

When I login first time, it takes
about 30 - 50 seconds from the login pages to the webmail interfaces. However,
it doesn't happen when I logout and login again or re-login within a short
period. I haven't measured the period but it should be around 10 - 15 minutes.
If I re-login several hours  later, it happens again. After login,
everything is normal and running fast.

The imapproxy has been installed but it
doesn't help. I try to login using Outlook express but it seems fine on the imap
service. Is there thing I miss? Thanks for your help.

B. Regards,
Santa Lau

That would be great Alex.

If you also cache the search respons then it will be possible to enable
the next/prev links when you read a message from the search results.

About the UW blew up, did it send a tagged NO response?

Next steps we should take is as followed:

Change the conf.pl settings regarding THREAD and SORT support and change
the vars to $disable_sort and $disable_thread. If those vars are not
explicitely set to true then we trust the capability response (that
response should always be trusted but sadly courier doesn't care about the
rules (previous version. I don't know how they behave at this moment)) and
make use of the threading and sorting function on the imap-server. In case
of failure (BAD respons, command not supported) we switch back to client
side sort (client side thread sort is not implemented and will never be
implemented).

At this moment it's kind of silly to default disable SORT support because
there is one server that misbehaves. It also will stop all the complaints
from people that thinks SquirrelMail is slow, not knowing that they use
client side sorting when their server supports server side sorting.

So far the sort/thread story.

Now something completely new:

Yesterday I added SASL-IR (immediate client response) support to
SquirrelMail 1.5 CVS. That will speed up AUTHENTICATE=PLAIN logins (SASL
logins). Yesterday was also the day when cyrus released the 2.2.2-BETA
release. That release is the first imap server in the world with SASL-IR
support. UW's next release will also contain SASL-IR support.
See draft-siemborski-imap-sasl-initial-response-01b.txt for more info.

Regards,

Marc Groot Koerkamp

Mr. Paul,
Thank you and it is Nice to here from you
My current setup is RedHat 7.2 , php4.0.6 ,perl 5.6 ,Sendmail,Apache,
wu-imap and SM -1.4.1
I have downloaded compatibility and Restrict senders Plugins, installed
both plugins, made changes in send_restrictions.dat file but found that it
is not working. It gives error that invelid Destination domain even that
domain is not restricted.

Then i have downloaded SM-1.4.2 , installed in parralel directory ,
installed compatibility and Restrict Sender plugins, made changes in
send_restrictions.dat file and it is working fine.

Now i am planning to shift to SM-1.4.2 but i have questions that why it is
not working in my current setup ?

Thanks and with regards

[SM-USERS] Hang on Folders access

2003-10-29 Thread Mike Loiterman

-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

SM seems to stop when I click on the Folders link at the top of the
page. Eventually it shows up, but after it does, anything else I
click on just hangs. This is with Mozilla 1.5a, Freebsd 5.1-CURRENT
#0, SM 1.4.2, Apache 2.0.47 and UW 2002d,1. Everything else works
perfectly. If I restart Apache the problem goes away.
