And are you moving the message, or deleting it? Some IMAP servers can move mail to the trash when you mark it as deleted. This will cause this kind of duplication as there is no move function, just copy and delete. At which point, the copy to trash, then we issue a delete on the original, the imap server kicks in, and copies it to the trash also. -- Jonathan Angliss ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) --- This SF.net email is sponsored by: SF.net Giveback Program. Re: [SM-USERS] Installing Plugins
When someone says executing config, they generally mean running the conf.pl script that is in the config directory, which is the most common way of configuring SM. To do this, you will need to ssh/telnet to the host machine, and goto the config directory and do "perl conf.pl". Another way is to use the administrator plugin that comes with SM and put a check mark next to the plugin name (you might have to enable it by doing this next way though), or to modify the config.php file by hand and adding the plugins to the plugins array. There is conf.pl script in config directory. If you have squirrelmail installed in /var/www/squirrelmail, script can be found in /var/www/squirrelmail/config directory. If you have squirrelmail installed in c:\wwwroot\squirrelmail, script is in c:\wwwroot\squirrelmail\config, but you need ActivePerl in order to run it. conf.pl is meniu based SquirrelMail's configuration script. Option No. 8 in that script controls installed plugins. -- Tomas --- This SF.net email is sponsored by: SF.net Giveback Program. Does SourceForge.net help you be more productive? Title: Message Greetings all. I was wondering if someone can shed some light on a question that I have. What is the purpose of the /var/spool/squirrelmail/attach directory and can this directory be cleared out from time to time. I see alot of files with file names like: xBqWJl6vo5OsKe047eOPZN4NXmBNbkE3 and such with some dating back from a few weeks ago. Is there any reason I shouldn't delete these files? Thanks. Brian

Re: [SM-USERS] /var/spool/squirrelmail/attach question
The odd thing about this is that you should only get that error if the attachment directory you specified does not exist. [SM-USERS] Prefs database
I am running SM 1.4.1-2 on RH 8.0 with Courier-IMAP. It works fine until I try to use a mysql database for prefs. I created the database called sqmaildb with attributes of user, prefval, and prefkey. The prefs_dsn = 'mysql://mail:[EMAIL PROTECTED]/sqmaildb'. I wrote a script to take my current prefs file and insert them into the database. The insert looks like it went well. The data looks to be in the database. However, when I try to login now, I get the message list with the following error message at the top: Server-side sorting is not supported by your IMAP server. Please report this to the system administrator. None of the messages have a from address. All of them have an unknown date and a subject of "(no subject)." The folder list presents the following error: ERROR: ERROR : Could not complete request. Query: LIST "" "INBOX.Sent Items " Reason Given: Error in IMAP command received by server. These are obviously IMAP errors, but they began when I made the change to how SM handles the prefs. Any ideas? Thanks! -- Jodie E Crouch III Asst. Actually I added it to the 1.5 devel search weeks ago, but I couldn't find enough time to commit it yet. Next week my load should begin to decrease ;) Thread sort is added too, and BTW, while testing it, uwimap just blew up on one of my mailboxes with no apparent reason (I guess there is a malformed message or something like that). Therefore I suggest to automatically turn off thread sorting for the concerned mailbox when something goes wrong, because when it happens, you're stuck, and need to edit the prefs manually. That's more or less what I tried to do in the search, where it's easier because it traps imap errors itself. Alex. --- This SF.net email is sponsored by: SF.net Giveback Program. [SM-USERS] First time login slow
Hi, I've upgraded our mail sytem to SQ 1.4.2 and courier-2.0 recently and found minor issue. When I login first time, it takes about 30 - 50 seconds from the login pages to the webmail interfaces. However, it doesn't happen when I logout and login again or re-login within a short period. I haven't measured the period but it should be around 10 - 15 minutes. If I re-login several hours later, it happens again. After login, everything is normal and running fast. The imapproxy has been installed but it doesn't help. I try to login using Outlook express but it seems fine on the imap service. Is there thing I miss? Thanks for your help. B. Regards, Santa Lau

If you also cache the search respons then it will be possible to enable the next/prev links when you read a message from the search results. About the UW blew up, did it send a tagged NO response? Next steps we should take is as followed: Change the conf.pl settings regarding THREAD and SORT support and change the vars to $disable_sort and $disable_thread. If those vars are not explicitely set to true then we trust the capability response (that response should always be trusted but sadly courier doesn't care about the rules (previous version. I don't know how they behave at this moment)) and make use of the threading and sorting function on the imap-server. In case of failure (BAD respons, command not supported) we switch back to client side sort (client side thread sort is not implemented and will never be implemented). At this moment it's kind of silly to default disable SORT support because there is one server that misbehaves. It also will stop all the complaints from people that thinks SquirrelMail is slow, not knowing that they use client side sorting when their server supports server side sorting. So far the sort/thread story. Now something completely new: Yesterday I added SASL-IR (immediate client response) support to SquirrelMail 1.5 CVS. That will speed up AUTHENTICATE=PLAIN logins (SASL logins). Yesterday was also the day when cyrus released the 2.2.2-BETA release. That release is the first imap server in the world with SASL-IR support. UW's next release will also contain SASL-IR support. See draft-siemborski-imap-sasl-initial-response-01b.txt for more info. [SM-USERS] Hang on Folders access
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 SM seems to stop when I click on the Folders link at the top of the page. Eventually it shows up, but after it does, anything else I click on just hangs. This is with Mozilla 1.5a, Freebsd 5.1-CURRENT #0, SM 1.4.2, Apache 2.0.47 and UW 2002d,1. Everything else works perfectly. If I restart Apache the problem goes away. - -- Mike Loiterman grantADLER Tel: 630-302-4944 Fax: 773-868-0071 Email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] PGP Key 0xD1B9D18E -BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE- Version: PGP 8.0.3 Comment: Digitally signed by Mike Loiterman iQA/AwUBP6Cb4GjZbUnRudGOEQKS9ACcDcRnddslYHO8FomSnbehWJlA4KEAn1uk rQwWTaKUBWll6jJKx6Ozn9Sn =xTiR -END PGP SIGNATURE- --- This SF.net email is sponsored by: SF.net Giveback Program.
