[SM-USERS] SM Setup on Debian
Hello, I have squirrelmail installed on my debian system but I cannot seem to get it to work. When I log into SM it returns an invalid user/password message. [SM-USERS] Installing plugins when not the owner of the server
This may be a stupid question, but be easy on me, I'm a newbie... My dowmain is being hosted by a server that has installed squirrelmail with no plugins. Is it possible for me (as just another user on the server) to install plugins for myself? Or is this something the must be done at the server level? I'd like to be able to use filters and spellcheck. If it must be done on the server, is it pretty simple, so I might be able to talk the server admin into doing it? The documentation would have answered this readily. In order to install plugins, you need write access to the plugins directory of the SquirrelMail installation, as well as write access to the config.php file (located in the 'config' directory, of course). If you don't want to edit the config.php file directly and would like an easier time, you also need Perl installed, and execute permission for conf.pl (also in 'config'). Re: [SM-USERS] SM not working with only certain domains
Hi Mike, Fraid it appears i've already got that line in my virtualhost directive! The problem ONLY occurs on early browsers however (i'm tesitng on Navigator 4.08). Looking at PHPINFO() from the two domains shows that the problem is the cookie isn't getting registered AT ALL on the example2.com domain (lincoln-oxford.com below). pidgeme.co.uk is the domain that works. I'd appreciate it if you could have a look and see if anything stands out! Essentially references to any cookies are absent in the broken domain as well as this "Pragma" thing. Below are 3 sections: Apache Environment, HTTP Headers Information and PHP Variables. The first copy is from the working domain and the second from the not working domain. By the way I use PHP 4.0.6 and Apache 1.3.19. [SM-USERS] trouble with vacation module
Ok I have set up a sendmail (8) server on RedHat (9) the mail interface itself works great and management loves it. To get vacation working I set up usermin with its module as a stop gap. When I apply the vacation module that comes with squirrelmail and attempt to access the link I get the following error: Fatal error: Failed opening required '../../include/validate.php' (include_path='.:/usr/share/pear') in /usr/share/squirrelmail/plugins/vacation/vac_init.php on line 14 I fixed this by changing include to src in the vac_init.php file (old directory structure?) I the got an error: Fatal error: Failed opening required '../functions/i18n.php' (include_path='.:/usr/share/pear') in /usr/share/squirrelmail/src/validate.php on line 22 now this it what confuses me from the /usr/share/squirrelmail/src directory ../functions would take you to /usr/share/squirrelmail/functions/ and when I do a locate on i18n.php I get Locate (after an updatedb): /usr/share/squirrelmail/functions/i18n.php So next I am going to manually put that in the validate.php file to see if that fixes ... anyway to make a long story short I had to hack the heck out of every file that used ../functions I was wondering if anyone had seen anything like this before (I am a newb to php) and if there was a clean set of files that worked.. OTOH, Dean, I can't see it being too difficult to talk the sysadmin into installing a few basic plugins like spellcheck and filters. As admin, the job of installing plugins is fairly simple unless the installation has been heavily customized. It really isn't that expensive of a hook, but I definitely agree that this should really be core functionality, and that is the end I am now working for. As for the hooks for internal links, I'm iffy on whether we should wipe them, move them, or core the whole thing. The hook is ran quite abit in its current location, but if we move it to the makelink function, then it should cut down on the calls to only do the top ones, I'll check but I might know an even better place to put it also. IMO not everyone would want this, so it might be best to leave it as a plugin since the tarbal download is already quite huge. The modified version of msg_flags I have runs great as a plugin, so I'm not sure why we would need to core it since its not that expensive of a hook. I have been working on a version that contains multiple themes, ect... and allows users to switch back and forth. The current plugin I have combines the links and the msg_flags (for matching themes). Anyways, if you would like them in the core, then I can patch it fairly easily, and can even integrate the themes to our current scheme probably. I'll see what I can come up with that is snazzy. I hope to modify them quite abit to get the noframes into the core (even though as a plugin, everything is still fairly small). As for the msg_flags / links, let me know what you would like to change on them. The current link images were borrowed from a phpnuke theme, so we should probably make some of our own (but they go so nice with my theme/css file!) Anyways, let me know what you think we need to change, ect...
