[SM-USERS] SquirrelMail without Writable Directories

2003-07-14 Thread Jasper Bryant-Greene
My question is simple - I want to install Squirrelmail on my webserver,
but I can't chmod or chown the data directory. Is there any way to stop
Squirrelmail from trying to write to the directory without limiting
functionality too much, or is there a way to allow it to write without
using chmod, chgrp or chown?

I can't SSH into the box, only set up cron jobs. :S Can anyone help!?

[SM-USERS] Attachment problem

2003-07-14 Thread Mark Cotter
Hello all,

I just installed squirrelmail a few days ago and Ive found it to be great so
far. Installation was very easy. I upgraded from 1.0 to 1.4.1 without a
problem.

I dont know if it was happening before I upgraded but when I attach a jpeg
to an email it tells me that it is a 'image/pjpeg'. When I send this and
then try to open it the image is messed up or isnt recognised as an image at
all. I have the same problem with any other image format Ive tried as well.
Also word/excel documents seem to get messed up. The only thing that Ive
tried that doesnt get messed up is text files.

Also when I try to delete an attachment I get the following error ->

'Warning: unlink() failed (No such file or directory) in
/usr/share/squirrelmail-1.4.1/src/compose.php on line 494'

Any ideas why? Is it to do with Squirrelmail or the IMAP server? Or is it
because I have directory permissons wrong for the attachment directory?

cheers
Mark

[SM-USERS] javascript:void(0) error when composing in a new window

2003-07-14 Thread Kevin Plew
I'm getting the above message in the status bar when trying to open a new
window to compose a message. If I turn off compose in a new window, I am
able to get the compose screen. Another interesting note- when compose in
new window is turning on I'm not able to read messages in a new window.

Any ideas?

[SM-USERS] SM 1.4.1 and Solaris

2003-07-14 Thread Dresen, Scott
I have SM 1.4.1 running on Solaris 8 and am having trouble with the time
zones. I have read the InvertTimeProblem issue with Solaris and have
made the appropriate setting changes. However, this does not fix my
problem, which is:

None of the time zones work. Whenever I make any change to the Time
Zone setting, the time of all mail shows as GMT. The only time it works
properly is when I have the setting at "Same as Server" in which case it
shows the correct time for messages. Additionally, the current time
showing in the left hand navigation bar always shows the server time
regardless of the time zone I have set. I'm not sure if this is related
or not.

I suspect this issue may be Solaris/PHP related but I have not found
enough information to lead me to a possible solution. Anyone have any
ideas? Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Scott

[SM-USERS] Can't Create Folders - help!

2003-07-14 Thread Matt Ingram
We're running SM 1.4.1 with Cyrus/Imap 2.1.12, mysql and Postfix 2.0.6.
Currently we cannot create subfolders to the inbox. This includes the
special folders. We get this error
* ERROR : Could not complete request.*
Query: CREATE "INBOX.testing"
Reason Given: Permission denied

We can create folders that are subfolders to folders in the inbox.

eg. INBOX.testing (can't create, generates a Permission denied error)
INBOX.testing.testing123 (can create)
and.. we CAN delete folders of any level (Inbox.testing,
Inbox.testing.test123)

Any ideas on where our problem lies?

Also, I've brought this up before, but how do I get folders to
autosubscribe? We've looked every in SM and cyrus configs and nothing
is jumping out at us..

Thanks.

[SM-USERS] Folder Problem

2003-07-14 Thread David C. Hicks
Hi folks,

I'm having a problem with folders under SM and hope someone can possibly
give me a clue. I just upgrade to 1.4.1-2 thinking that the extra
support for UW IMAP would be helpful, but it hasn't changed behavior.
My users' email files are all in ~/mail, including any additional
folders that they've created. It seems that SM is looking for
additional folders in ~/mail/mail. If I set the default prefix to ""
instead of "mail/", then SM can't find the inbox file, either. So, is
there a configuration item for SM that will take care of this, or am I
left with modifying the way that UW IMAP behaves so that other clients
will continue to work properly?

Thanks!
David

[SM-USERS] Archive Mail

2003-07-14 Thread Mike Smith
Ok, this one has got me. I am able to archive/zip up one of
my folders, 'SPAMAssassin'. However if I try to do it with ANY other folder I get
the 1k file with the error message. Any ideas or suggestions on how to go about
tracking this down?  Are other people just not using this plugin. Seems
like a good one if it would work. Especially if you maintain quotas on your server.
It's a nice way for them to clean out their Sent items and
such. Thanks, - Mike Here's the contents of
the zip file when it fails.

The server couldn't find the message you requested.
Most probably your message list was out of date and the message has been moved
away or deleted (perhaps by another program accessing the same
mailbox).

Just a suggestion of something to look at ... do you see a difference
between archiving files that are being displayed in threaded view
versus those that are not?

((Another suggestion, unrelated ... somehow you've got SM sending your
messages as text/html instead of multipart/alternative with at least
one text/plain alternative. Ouch.))

[SM-USERS] Protocol error when using OpenLDAP 2.1.22 with Squirrelmail 1.4

2003-07-14 Thread DWrisley

I am trying to use OpenLDAP 2.1.22 with Squirrelmail 1.4 and am running
into a protocol error when using the squirrelmail address book function
to look up addresses in the LDAP server.

Here is the exact error message I get while in squirrelmail:

Error initializing LDAP server 192.168.1.73:
 [dude ldap] Protocol error

Both the apache web server, the squirrelmail files, and the LDAP server
are the same machine, IP 192.168.1.73. This PC is running Redhat 9.0

I can access the LDAP data via other computers and with other programs.
I have several users and other related data in LDAP already. For
example, I can use a java based LDAP program on a windows machine to
view and modify the LDAP entries. I can also use another commercial
win32 application to do the same. A different PC with Outlook queries
this 192.168.1.73 LDAP server just fine and finds the users I have in
there.

All other Squirrelmail functions work fine like sending and receiving
mail, calendar, and so forth.

I am logging all the data from slapd to a file. Here are the entries in
this file when I get the error message above:

Jul 8 12:30:55 linux2 slapd[13426]: conn=23 fd=11 ACCEPT from
IP=192.168.1.73:4816 (IP=0.0.0.0:389)

Jul 8 12:30:55 linux2 slapd[13426]: conn=23 op=0 RESULT tag=97 err=2
text=requested protocol version not allowed
Jul 8 12:30:55 linux2 slapd[13426]: conn=23 op=1 UNBIND
Jul 8 12:30:55 linux2 slapd[13426]: conn=23 fd=11 closed

My base DN in Squirrelmail is set to the same as the other external LDAP
apps that work. That is dc=ivex,dc=com I have looked in the
squirrelmail config.php file and verfiried that. I can not explain the
dc="" in the log above.

The requested protocol version not allowed is what bothers me. Is
squirrelmail trying to access my LDAP server using LDAP v2. I have read
through the Admin guide and it says LDAPv2 is disabled by default and I
should be using LDAPv3 (which I am). It also states that running a mix
of V2 and V3 is problematic.

Has anyone else ran into this problem with squirrelmail and LDAP?

Paul, Can you telnet into your IMAP server and show what prompt you get?

There are a few of us having this problem, and we think it might be related

[SM-USERS] Secure login plugin not working for me

2003-07-14 Thread Cleveland
Hello,

I just setup SM 1.4.1, and it works great. I'm trying to get the secure
login plugin to work with that. I've had it working with previous
versions, but can't with this one for some reason. I've got it running
on a redhat 9 machine. If I just put in the url, it says it can't
connect. If I put in https:// it works fine, but doesn't seem to use the
plugin.

Any ideas?

[SM-USERS] How to - Mercury32 IMAP, SpamAssassin win32, SquirrelMail 1.4

2003-07-14 Thread spamtrap
Mail Server: Win2k sp3, Mercury 32 IMAP
Web Server: Win2k sp4, Apache 2.0, Squirrelmail 1.4.0

I need help configuring SpamAssassin to work with a Mercury IMAP server
and SquirrelMail.

I have Mercury32 and SquirrelMail installed with no problems. There is
(1) site indicating how to set up SpamAssassin on Windows that I have
found - http://www.openhandhome.com/howtosa250.html.

Basically, there isn't much info on just installing it on Windows. I
guess to complicate things, I'm using IMAP so just figuring out where the
pieces get installed and run from (mail server or web server or both) has
got me feeling like a deer caught in the headlights.

I am looking for a brief general architectual overview of when the
SpamAssassin gets run (on the server when email arrives or when the client
connects and requests mail) and then I'll have some more specific
questions.

Has anyone done this?

Thanks,
Dave Lewis

I believe so. Outlook on a windows98 machine looks up the info on this

Is there another line that needs to be added to slapd.conf maybe for

Subject: [SM-USERS] Protocol error when using OpenLDAP 2.1.22 with
Squirrelmail 1.4

Jul 8 12:30:55 linux2 slapd[13426]: conn=23 fd=11 ACCEPT from
IP=192.168.1.73:4816 (IP=0.0.0.0:389)
Jul 8 12:30:55 linux2 slapd[13426]: conn=23 op=0 BIND dn="" method=128
Jul 8 12:30:55 linux2 slapd[13426]: conn=23 op=0 RESULT tag=97 err=2
text=requested protocol version not allowed

I can not explain the
dc="" in the log above.

[SM-USERS] Strange php/squirrel spell problem

I have 2 different RedHat 8.0 servers. Both servers are running the

Squirrelmail 1.2.1-2 installed from rpm. I have the same plugins and

One server squirrel spell functions correctly. You have the Check
Spelling button in the compose window. Snippet of the html line that
gets generated by squirrelspell/setup.php is :

On the other box, There is no Check Spelling button. The reasons is the
generated html. Which; is the following.

Notice that after input type= in the first script it is as it should be
input type=\"button\"

In the second script it is input type = "\""button\"

The squirrelspell/setup.php files are identical. If I change the line
that generates this line whereever the first = sign is the next
character gets "(any character)". This is driving me crazy and any help
would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

2003-07-14 Thread Frank Funston Eckdall

Dear Sirs and/or Madames,    14 July, 2003

Has anyone gotten the following error message:
Warning: fsockopen(): php_hostconnect: connect failed in .../functions/imap_general.php

Warning: fsockopen(): unable to connect to localhost:143 in functions/imap_general.php

Error connecting to IMAP server: localhost.

I have confirmed that  port 143 is indead  listening on the
localhost address using  netstat  -an , netstat -lnp and finally
netstat --inet -a -n | grep LISTEN.

I have also upgraded PHP from 4.3.1 to 4.3.2 in case of  bugs but still
get the above same error message. I used the following options for php
install:
./configure --with-mysql=/usr --with-apxs2=/usr/local/apache2/bin/apxs
--with-xml --enable-tracks-vars --enable-tracks-vars
--enable-force-cgi-redirect --with-gettext

I am using apache2 on RedHat 7.3  if that helps any.

I  have installed the latest version of  SquirrelMail and also a
earlier version but no luck.

Does anyone know what is causing this error message and how to resolve
it?

Tanks beforehand!

tried logging in from the command line?

$ telnet localhost 143

if you still get connection refused messages, you need to fix your IMAP
server (and this is not the forum for solving those issues). if you can
log in that way but not through SM, you need to double check your IMAP
settings in the SM configuration script. if you have questions on that,
be sure to include info about the settings in question

I am having this problems too and I have IMAP4Rev1 so I don't think it is

move all messages from INBOX to another folder and both folders opens ok

[SM-USERS] Unable to download older plugins from Squirrelmail site?

2003-07-14 Thread David Bell
I'm in need of a Secure Login plugin for version 1.2.6 of
squirrelmail... While I realize this version of SM is quite old, it's
what's in Debian stable and several security fixes have been backported
to it. If anyone has this plugin, I'd appreciate it if they would email
it, or provide a download link to me. Thanks!

[SM-USERS] Time Zone Problems

2003-07-14 Thread William McGarr

Hi

I'm using 1.2.11 .. Some users on our system have time zones displayed on
there personal options some don't (For different domains)

I even copied the PHP pages from the directory of the domain that has Time
Zone displayed
but to no avail.

The only thing I seem to be able to pick up from reading posts is that Safe
Mode needs to be off for
the Time Zone to appear as an option... Can someone confirm or deny...

Thanks

I'm sure microsoft has a solution for you. ;>

Try turning on error reporting in php.ini and retrying:

  display_errors = On
  error_reporting = E_ALL

Although your problem might just be that you don't have the correct
language display support in Konqueror. Try making sure the encoding of
the login page is set correctly...
