Dear Sirs and/or Madames, 14 July, 2003

Has anyone gotten the following error message:
Warning: fsockopen(): php_hostconnect: connect failed in .../functions/imap_general.php on line 227

Warning: fsockopen(): unable to connect to localhost:143 in ....functions/imap_general.php on line 227

ERROR
Error connecting to IMAP server: localhost.
111 : Connection refused

I have confirmed that port 143 is indead listening on the localhost address using netstat -an , netstat -lnp and finally netstat --inet -a -n | grep LISTEN.

I have also upgraded PHP from 4.3.1 to 4.3.2 in case of bugs but still get the above same error message. I used the following options for php install:
./configure --with-mysql=/usr --with-apxs2=/usr/local/apache2/bin/apxs --with-xml --enable-tracks-vars --enable-tracks-vars --enable-force-cgi-redirect --with-gettext

I am using postfix, courier-imap and apache2 on RedHat 7.3 if that helps any. IMAP daemon is listening.

I have installed the latest version of SquirrelMail and also a earlier version but no luck.

Does anyone know what is causing this error message and how to resolve it?

Tanks beforehand!
