[digikam] [Bug 426513] New: "By Manual and Name" and "By Manual and Date" sort options for items

2020-09-14 Thread Fred Brigham
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=426513

Bug ID: 426513
Summary: "By Manual and Name" and "By Manual and Date" sort
options for items
   Product: digikam
   Version: 7.1.0
  Platform: Microsoft Windows
OS: Microsoft Windows
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Usability-Menus
  Assignee: digikam-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: frbrig...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
The "By Manual and Name" and "By Manual and Date" sort options for items are
not mentioned in the digiKam Handbook. These options are not intuitive and need
explanation.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Refer to digiKam Handbook
2. Go to chapter 31.1.16 "The View Menu"
3. Under "View > Sort Images" there is no mention of the "By Manual and Name"
and "By Manual and Date" options.

OBSERVED RESULT
The information is missing.

EXPECTED RESULT
This information is essential because these options are not intuitive.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows:

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Even if the Handbook cannot be updated immediately, an explanation of these
options would be appreciated. I have experimented with the options and observed
the result but I am unable to understand the behaviour.

It decides whether the images should be sorted by name or date if the images
have not yet been captured by manual sorting. If images were manually sorted
extensively, both entries behave identically. So it is only decisive for the
manual initial sorting.

Yeah Qt does not support proper GLES3 at all. I ran into that when trying to

Pushed by ahiemstra into branch 'master'.

Remove check for GLES3 in SDFShader

Qt doesn't actually support GLES3 and will insert incorrect stuff into
the shader if we use GLSL 300. So remove the check for now and instead
just always use GLES2.

Thanks for the quick reply. I could't test KDevelop 5.5.1 due to lack of
package. But I think you are right: This is a duplicate bug 417151 because
indeed it occurs exactly when hovering with the mouse over a part of source

Should we close this one as duplicate?

I am experiencing the same problem.

Manjaro Version: 20.1
Kernel: 5.8.6-1-MANJARO
Plasma Version: 5.19.5

Laptop: T480s
Thinkpad Thunderbolt dock
ThinkVision monitor

I boot up my computer with the lid closed. It is connected to a thunderbolt
dock which has a monitor connected to it via Display Port. Once I enter my
password into SDDM, I am presented with a black screen and no panel. I am still
able to launch applications by using krunner, though.

I can run "kquitapp5 plasmashell && kstart5 plasmashell" to get everything up
and going again.

I can't remember exactly when this started happening, but up until (relatively)
recently this has never been a problem. If I had to guess, I would say up until
about 2 months ago this had never been a problem - everything functioned
exactly as one would want it to.

Is there any information on when this issue will be addressed and a fix
released?

[digikam] [Bug 426513] "By Manual and Name" and "By Manual and Date" sort options for items

2020-09-14 Thread Fred Brigham
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=426513

Thanks, that works fine. The problem was that I was trying to drop the
thumbnail I was moving into a space between other thumbnails. This results in a
File conflict error message "Files or folders with the same name already exist
in the target folder". If I then select "Rename automatically" a copy of the
file is produced in addition to the original. I continued experimenting and
discovered that the answer is to drop the thumbnail to be moved directly on top
of another thumbnail. I then get the popup "Insert items here" and the
thumbnail is then moved to the position in front of the target thumbnail.

Sorry to disturb you. As you suggested, I tried performing cmake on all the
branches listed using 'git branch -a'. It seems none of branches is
supporting 5.11.3 qt.

I tried all the above branches and all are giving the same error:

Is there any other alternate way.

Thanks for your patience.

[kdevelop] [Bug 426462] KDE project provider isn't available

2020-09-14 Thread Francis Herne
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=426462

Yes, reasonably so -- project provider plugins are quite simple and don't need
much knowledge of the rest of the codebase.

You can find a similar example in the GitHub provider (plugins/ghprovider in
the source code) and of course the previous KDE project provider removed in the
commit I linked.

There's a tutorial on how to build KDevelop using kdesrc-build here:
https://community.kde.org/index.php?title=KDevelop/HowToCompile_v5

Alternatively, you can install the various build dependencies (even the git
version should be fine with the dep versions in most distros) and
compile/install as any other CMake project. Do note that QT_PLUGIN_PATH must be
set before running KDevelop if you install to /usr/local or some other
non-standard path.

Since I see you're using Manjaro, this is the PKGBUILD I use to build locally;
you'd need to change _repo at least: http://www.flherne.uk/files/PKGBUILD

If any other questions, ask in the #kdevelop IRC channel and wait a while if
you don't get an answer immediately -- several devs are in it but not watching
IRC all the time.

The tab bar showed only a limited number of tabs before
https://invent.kde.org/utilities/kate/-/merge_requests/89 has been merged. I
liked that behavior because that way the tab bar was automatically kept clean
and showed the most relevant currently opened documents. The new tab bar is
completely useless as soon as one has many documents opened concurrently. So
I'd like to see the old behavior back again, e.g. as a feature which can be
optionally enabled.

It would be nice if the quick search (the "thing" opened via `Ctrl + Alt + O`)
would match the search term against the full file path. I would find that very
useful because often one has multiple files with the same name and including
the parent directory name would easily disambiguate these.

I remember that this behavior was actually present a while ago but the search
has been changed to consider only the filename at some point. Maybe you had a
reason to do so but I would be nice to bring the old behavior back at least as
an optionally configurable feature.

[krita] [Bug 426523] New: Bug with the outline selection tool for advanced selection technique

2020-09-14 Thread stephen
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=426523

Bug ID: 426523
Summary: Bug with the outline selection tool for advanced
selection technique
   Product: krita
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: unspecified
OS: All
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Tools/Selection
  Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: tgdev...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
1) This bug is about the outline selection tool.
But first, I want to recall that using the polyline tool, it's still not
possible to switch to the outline selection using modifier keys while drawing
the perimeter of the selection area. And changing the parameters of this
selection tool isn't possible in the settings menu.

Alright. So the bug manifests as follows : with a first selection area active,
it's impossible to add a new one should you switch to the polyline tool as you
draw the new perimeter of the additional selection area.
Because doing so results in an unexpected behavior which either cancels all the
selection areas, or cancels the new perimeter you draw.
The only way so far to add multiple selection areas is to avoid the use of the
CTRL modifier key, meaning that you can't switch to the polyline tool after
your first selection area is done

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Create a selection area with the outline selection tool
2. Try to build a new selection area to add, but make sure you hold CTRL key to
try switching to the polyline tool as you draw it.

OBSERVED RESULT
The new area refuses to be added/subtracted or all your selections areas are
dismissed. So CTRL modifier key = cancellation for add/subtract use cases.
Not good.

EXPECTED RESULT
The new area should be added/subtracted depending on the modifier key you held
before releasing your pen/mouse, or before committing your selection area.

Keyframes of layers where no pixels have been edited and the layer has been

The keyframes show up in the timeline, but the translation/ new position has
not been saved.
Sometimes the layer seems to revert to the position of when the layer was first
created.

It looks like this is still around.

I looked into KDirWatch and it seems it only has support for file changes (i.e.
the "dirty" signal), so it is impossible to know when the file is closed for
writing (lua/xe/pdflatex all seem to write multiple chunks and close the file
now and then as well).

Wouldn't it work if okular shows a warning when the pdf-file changes, and waits
with updating the graphical layout until it has successfully loaded the new
pdf-file? I mean a warning along the lines of in big red letters "The current
file is corrupt, showing the last known good state from %time". This behavior
should only be the default for "greedy"-mode as well I think, since those of us
who would benefit from it are probably all using greedy anyhow and it could, as
previously stated, cause some confusion that the pdf shown is not the exact
version on the disk at that moment.

I'm currently working around this with a last `cp file.pdf file-view.pdf` in my
makefiles, so a fix to this issue is, at least for me, a matter of convenience.

Bug ID: 426525
Summary: Key sequences ambiguous by default
   Product: kdevelop
   Version: 5.6.0
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal

  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 131641

Error message

SUMMARY

KDevelop AppImage reports a lot of ambiguous key sequences when installed as
is.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Follow the official guide to download and run KDevelop:

{{Output|1=
wget -O KDevelop.AppImage
https://download.kde.org/stable/kdevelop/5.6.0/bin/linux/KDevelop-5.6.0-x86_64.AppImage
chmod +x KDevelop.AppImage
./KDevelop.AppImage
}}

2. Open a project, set a breakpoint, and run debug launch.

3. Hit F10 to step over.

OBSERVED RESULT

The message pops up saying

The key sequence 'F10' is ambiguous. Use 'Configure Shortcuts'
from the 'Settings' menu to solve the ambiguity.
No action will be triggered.

See the screenshot attached.

EXPECTED RESULT

The instruction pointer moving to the next code line.

macOS:
Linux/KDE Plasma:

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Going to keyboard shortcut configuration and searching for F10 key proves that
the key is indeed ambiguous. By default it has been assigned to Dynamic Word
Wrap (Kate Part) and Step Over (Debugger). Sure, I can change the key, but
isn't it supposed to work right out of the box? Moreover, there are many other
keys which bring about the same issue.

[Plasma Workspace Wallpapers] [Bug 426529] New: Feature Request: Configure Desktop - Additional "Oder" Option For "Slideshow"

2020-09-14 Thread Dante Igashu
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=426529

Bug ID: 426529
Summary: Feature Request: Configure Desktop - Additional "Oder"
Option For "Slideshow"
   Product: Plasma Workspace Wallpapers
   Version: 5.19.5
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: veritas.scientia.volun...@outlook.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
Hello!
I would like to kindly make a request to add an additional option to arrange
the order of the wallpapers.
I always use a few different folders for my wallpapers expecting to be able to
see them arranged in the order I intent (by folder and in alphabetical order)
but the option is not available in the plasma default wallpaper "app" nor in
any other that is available in the "new plugins" section. I tried "Vallpaper",
it actually reads the wallpapers "by folder" but it gets the images randomly
and apparently it doesn't "remember" in which image it was after turning the PC
off, so every time you start a new session, it just starts over, in a few
words, it doesn't do what I would like it to do.
Also, the only wallpaper "app" that I like until now is the one that comes by
default in Plasma but there's just that feature "missing", so I would like to
please ask you, if it is possible and it doesn't cause any inconvenient trouble
for you, if you could please add an "Order" option called something like "By
Folder" in which it reads the folders and images in alphabetical order and,
like it does now, it remembers where it stopped, so my desktop shows the
wallpaper where I "left" before turning off the PC.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Set Wallpapers order to "A - Z"

OBSERVED RESULT
It "plays" the wallpapers in "alphabetical order" as if all of them were in the
exact same folder but not actually in alphabetical order, or numerical order in
fact, it seems to have a limit of numerical names below 1000 and it arranges
files with a number >= 1000 apparently only considering the hundreds portion of
the name.

EXPECTED RESULT
To be able to read from folders in alphabetical order and "play" the wallpapers
in alphabetical order too. Remember where it "stopped" after starting a new
session.

[dolphin] [Bug 426528] New: Changing upper/lowercase on renaming a folder on a CIFS share triggers multiple bugs

2020-09-14 Thread Alexander Ewering

SUMMARY

Changing the name of a folder on a CIFS share mounted from a macOS server (via
an actual mount, not via smbfs:// or similar), and ONLY changing the CASING of
the name (say, Foobar -> foobar) brings up an avalanche of odd behaviours:

1) Warning dialog ("This action will overwrite the destination")
2) When "Cancel" is clicked, the folder has apparently been renamed (case
changed)
3) Trying to rename the folder again does absolutely nothing (left-clicking the
selected folder or choosing Right-Click -> "Rename" doesn't bring up any kind
of dialog)
4) When navigating to a different containing folder and then back, the case is
suddenly reverted to before the rename operation. (I guess it has never been
actually renamed, but only the DISPLAYED name has been updated after the failed
rename operation).
