Bug#747971: qtconnectivity5-dev:

2014-05-13 Thread Laurent Bonnaud
Package: qtconnectivity5-dev
Version: 5.2.1-3
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

this package installs a dangling symlink:

$ ls -l /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libQt5Nfc.*
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 996 avril 5 15:17
/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libQt5Nfc.prl
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 18 avril 5 15:17
/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libQt5Nfc.so -> libQt5Nfc.so.5.2.1

Installing libqt5nfc5 fixes the problem, so perhaps qtconnectivity5-dev
should depend on libqt5nfc5?

Bug#788108: qtlocation-opensource-src: Please switch to geoclue 2

2015-06-08 Thread Laurent Bigonville
Source: qtlocation-opensource-src
Version: 5.3.2-2

Hi,

I would like to remove geoclue from the archive and
qtlocation is the only remaning non leaf package to use it.

The package should switch to geoclue 2 instead, not sure how far
upstream is regarding this.

Cheers,

Laurent Bigonville

Bug#886557: okular: Poor rendering

2018-01-07 Thread laurent B
Package: okular
Version: 4:17.08.3-2
Severity: important
Tags: upstream

Dear Maintainer,

Since last update of my system (buster/sid) the rendering of Okular is getting
pretty ugly. Letters look "pixelised".
It looks like a resolution problem : If I zoom the pixelation is still there
but represents a lower relative size with respect to the size of the letter.
It is specific to okular since evince or other are not concerned.

Bug#953239: CI tests failing

2020-03-06 Thread Laurent Bigonville
Source: parley
Version: 4:17.08.3-1.1
Severity: normal

Hi,

It seems tha the CI tests are consistently failing due to:

testsuiteFAIL stderr: libKF5Plasma.so.5 was not found.

https://ci.debian.net/packages/p/parley/unstable/amd64/

You should either allow the messages to stderr or installing
libkf5plasma5 so the message disapears

Kind regards,

Laurent Bigonville

This bug still exists with kwin 3.3.2.

To reproduce:

 - install the gtk2.0-examples package

 - start gtk-demo and the "Button Boxes" demo

 - resize the window from the right or bottom border : the window update
is smooth

 - resize the window from the top or left border : the window update is
jerky

Bug#846877: plasma-desktop: Sddm can not start kde. Then panel is not working.

2016-12-03 Thread laurent B
Package: plasma-desktop
Version: 4:5.8.4-1
Severity: grave
Tags: upstream
Justification: renders package unusable

Dear Maintainer,

*** Reporter, please consider answering these questions, where appropriate ***

   * What led up to the situation?
upgrade some packages on debian sid (this week from 28 november to 2th
december 2016)
   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?
try to login in plasma-kde from sddm
   * What was the outcome of this action?
the blackcreen with K icon showed off but hand out indefinitely. However I
found a simple workaourd : go to tty1 then back to tty7 and get greeted with
the sound of plasma login. However then at some point the panel will stop work
and i could only manage to switch from one windows to another going in the to
left side of the screen.

Bug#846877: plasma-desktop: Sddm can not start kde. Then panel is not working.

2017-01-07 Thread Laurent Debian
Hi,

I am a bit doubtful,

Regarding the first issue :

- the same issue happened both in my laptop without any kind of dual screen
("mac book pro retina 2013" using intel i915 ) and my desktop HP with dual
screen (DVI VGA ) using nouveau...
-the symptoms seem different : sddm start into the K icon and idle from
there (unless I use ctrl-alt-Fx then CTRL-ALT-F7) I can see this on both
screen. The suggestion make in the previous mail did not help.
-I have no error in the boot log

Regarding the second issue :

- my up to date sid still show this issue today the 7th of january 2017.
Was qtdeclarative updated or not yet ?
- When the panel crashes/freeses I can *also* do ctrl-alt-Fx then
CTRL-ALT-F7 to restore it in a working state (most of the time...)

Personnaly I found it unlikely that 2 different issues have exactly the
same work around ?

If you want me to test more things please tell me so.
Cheers;

What is the status of this?

Could this be implemented for stretch? The number of "login" pam
services is quite limited IMHO (xDM, login, openssh,...) so I'm not sure
that waiting for pam-auth-update support for these (#677288) is really
needed, for example we have added pam_selinux modules already in all
these login services.

openssh and gdm are already calling the pam_keyinit.so module for quite
sometimes now without any visible complains.

Hi,

The debian/sddm.service file contains the following lines:

Conflicts=plymouth-quit-wait.service
After=systemd-user-sessions.service plymouth-start.service
plymouth-quit-wait.service
OnFailure=plymouth-quit.service

For me the Conflicts= (and the OnFailure=) doesn't make any sense. The
gdm.service file contains these line too but only because GDM takes care
himself of stopping plymouth. sddm should just wait that plymouth
is stopped here and nothing else.

The OnFailure= is also redundant here if the Conflicts= is removed as
the plymouth-quit.service will be executed anyway.

Upstream ships a file in services/sddm.service.in, with
After=plymouth-quit.service (like GDM), any reason you have modified
this?

Thinking about this again, the Conflicts= statement could actually
causes issues for other packages that are declaring a dependency against
that service.

Hi,

Is there a reason the "assistant" executable is installed in the
qt4-dev-tools package and not in an other one?

Because it's a developer's only tool.

For what I can see this is used to display help/documentation viewer,
this is barely a development task.

It displays just the Qt documentation, thus purely a developer tool.

Well it's also seems to be used for _user_ documentation:

"You can use Qt Assistant as the help viewer in your applications. You
can display your own documentation and customize Qt Assistant to look
and feel like part of your application. You can change the window title
or icon, as well as menu texts and actions. For more information, see
Customizing Qt Assistant."

https://doc.qt.io/qt-5/qtassistant-index.html

I myself maintain one application that uses "assistant" to display its
documentation, looking in the archive, I see several others (qterm,
qtikz,...) that are shipping .qhc/.qch files too.

For me it's far from evident that it's a developers tool only.

Could you please reconsider your position? It seems to me that providing
documentation out of the box to the users (especially to the less
experienced ones) is quite important.

Bug#854440: qtchooser: Does not search for QT5 executables by default

I explicitly need to specify the version and then it's working:

bigon@fornost:~$ qtchooser -run-tool=assistant -qt=5

Isn't that defeating completely the purpose of this tool?

I see in #764184 that qtchooser is apparently a qt4 application, so why
would qt5 package depends on it?

That doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

I see QT5 applications also try to use the "assistant" from /usr/bin
that then points to the non existing version of QT4. Wouldn't it be
better to force the PATH in libqt5 to also look in /usr/lib/*/qt5/bin if
qtchooser cannot be used?

Bug#854458: Returns 1 instead of 127 when a command cannot be found

2017-02-07 Thread Laurent Bigonville
Package: qtchooser
Version: 63-g13a3d08-1
Severity: normal

Hi,

Shells useally returns 127 when a command is not found, qtchooser simply
returns 1.

Shouldn't qtchooser be changed to return 127 if the executable is not
found (and maybe 126 if the executable has not the exec bit?)

Regards,

Laurent Bigonville

Bug#759664: kde-runtime: Wrong licences listed in debian/copyright

2014-08-29 Thread Laurent Bigonville

Version: 4:4.14.0-1

Hi,

The kio sftp pluging recently got disabled due to licence issues (see:
#750867) on the assumption that the code was GPL.

But it seems that apparently the code is LGPL instead.

I guess that the complete debian/copyright needs some update.

Bug#763931: kdm: Please add proper dependency against libpam-systemd

2014-10-03 Thread Laurent Bigonville
Package: kdm
Version: 4:4.11.12-1
Severity: normal

Hi,

kdm is supporting either logind or consolekit, but the dependencies are
not reflecting that.

Would be nice if the following dependency was added to the kdm package:

  libpam-systemd [linux-any], consolekit [!linux-any]

This will ensure on linux architectures that a logind session is
properly registred and allow a fallback on non-linux architectures to
consolekit. I'm not using a OR statement here as a lot of other
components are already requiring logind session to properly work.

Cheers,

Laurent Bigonville

Which DM are you using (kdm?)?
Do you have libpam-systemd installed? Do you have a logind session
registered? (use loginctl to list the sessions). Is the session active
(loginctl show-session ).

"loginctl show-session 1" should also show you "State=active", then it's
OK.

Lots of packages involved have indeed been updated recently, might be
the latest systemd-shim update that fixed your issue.

> I do not know what a "seat" is, so I cannot say wether it is normal

A seat is a combinaison of screen and devices (mouse/keyboard/...) that
can be used by one user at a time. Some systems have multiple seats
where multiple persons can work at the same time using their own
graphical session (screen input devices) but sharing the same
CPU/memory.

Can this bug be closed then?

Bug#664808: Please enable pam_loginuid by default

2013-05-17 Thread Laurent Bigonville
tag 664808 + patch
tag 677438 + patch
thanks

Hello,

Please find here attached a patch that fixes both #677438 and #664808.

The pam modules should be called in that order:

1) session pam_selinux close
2) other sessions modules including pam_loginuid
3) include common-session
4) session pam_selinux open

It's important that the pam_loginuid is located before the include of
common-session as pam_systemd module, which is included in
common-session, must be called after the loginuid process attribute
has been properly set.

Regarding the selinux module, if selinux is disabled on the machine of
the user, the module is just returning succeed. And as pam_selinux is
not existing on !linux platforms, we cannot unfortunately use the
"required" control.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Cheers

Bug#875847: qttools5-dev-tools: .qhc files not reproducible

2017-09-14 Thread Laurent Bigonville
Package: qttools5-dev-tools
Version: 5.9.1-2
Severity: wishlist
User: reproducible-bui...@lists.alioth.debian.org
Usertags: timestamps toolchain

Hi,

It seems that qcollectiongenerator is generating files that are
containing the creation time of the qhc file (LastRegisterTime and
CreationTime), making them non-reproducible. See:
https://tests.reproducible-builds.org/debian/rb-pkg/unstable/amd64/diffoscope-results/setools.html

To make the build reproducible, qcollectiongenerator should probably be
patched to support SOURCE_DATE_EPOCH to be able to pass the debian/changelog
date instead of the current date.

Regards,

Laurent Bigonville

Bug#929076: kded5: many KDE processes have rwx memory mappings

2019-05-16 Thread Laurent Bonnaud
Package: kded5
Version: 5.54.0-1
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

As a defense against machine code injection attacks made possible by buffer
overflow bugs, most Linux distributions have worked over the years to remove as
many rwx memory mappings as possible in processes.

I checked this on several of my systems and unfortunately I found that many KDE
processes do have rwx memory mappings.

I chose to report this bug against the kded package because it is one of the
most fundamental affected KDE process I found. However, the problem seems to be
more general in KDE. I apologize in advance for not finding a better software
package to report this problem.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Log in Plasma
2. Run the following command:

$ grep rwx /proc/$(pidof kded5)/maps

OBSERVED RESULT

$ grep rwx /proc/$(pidof kded5)/maps
7f68d7c2a000-7f68d7c3a000 rwxp 00:00 0

EXPECTED RESULT

No output

I'm now working to disable the support in 5.5.1 to close this bug ASAP. We

Laurent: does it rings you any bells?

For the runtime dependency, you should Depends/Recommends/Suggests the

If your code is resilient enough and support the case where the daemon

Bug#506986: [kontact] Charset problem in contacts with IMAP resource

2008-11-26 Thread Laurent Léonard
Package: kontact
Version: 4:3.5.9-5
Severity: normal

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---
I am using IMAP groupware functionalities with Kontact. There is a charset
problem in contacts when I use the IMAP resource : when I add a new contact
with a special character like "é" in the name or in an other field, it is
automatically changed into a curious double square character after the
synchronisation with the IMAP resource.

The vCard seems to be encoded in UTF-8 on the server, and this problem is
fixed in 4.1.x, but I need 3.5.x to sync my PIM data with my phone.

Bug#677438: Please enable pam_loginuid by default

2012-06-14 Thread Laurent Bigonville
Hi,

So let's try to be more clear about this bug.

pam_loginuid is used to track user login. This module is needed
by different things: the audit daemon, consolekit and systemd (for the
later, the lack of calling this module, produces some nasty issues, like
breaking sudo).

The module must only be called in login-like services (login, xDM,...)
and not in services like sudo as this is defeating the purpose of
having a UID per login. The pam-auth-update is currently laking (see
#677288) a way to add modules to login services only.

pam_loginuid.so module is already present in the libpam-modules package
which is Priority: required which means it's installed on every system
by default.

The module need to be added in between the call to selinux close/open
and before pam_ck_connector modules (if they are already present in your
pam service file), I also recommend to add it before the
common-session(-noninteractive) include. For example:

 session requiredpam_selinux.so close
 [...]
session requiredpam_loginuid.so << Add it here
 @include common-session
 session requiredpam_selinux.so open

Cheers

Laurent Bigonville

Bug#367958: kuickshow: slideshow sometimes stops after first image

2006-05-18 Thread Laurent MOREL
Package: kuickshow
Version: 4:3.5.2-1+b2
Severity: normal

This bug only appears after kuickshow has been launched
from a directory containing some JPG files
(for example from the command line without any argument).
Type F2 (or use menu) to start slideshow :
- if option "start slideshow at current image" is set in preferences,
kuickshow does not display anything (one could imagine that there
no current image yet ?)
- if option is not set, kuickshow displays first image, then stops.

Note that this bug disappears after only one image has been
manually clicked and displayed (then closed) : slideshow works
correctly after that operation.

Bug#368049: kamera: can not open/copy big AVI files

2006-05-19 Thread Laurent MOREL
Package: kamera
Version: 4:3.5.2-1+b2
Severity: important

I have just purchased a Canon A610 digital camera,
and I manage to access it successfully through
gphoto2/usb2.0 (with both front-ends gtkam and digiKam).
Note that this hardware is quite new, and not yet
precisely recognized by my version of gphoto2).
I am quite sure that my camera is accessed through the
PTP protocol.

However, when I try to use it with the kamera plugin,
by typing "camera:/" as URL in konqueror, things do
not work properly :
I can see all camera files in the konqueror file list,
and I manage to copy/paste (or open) all the images
(which are about 1Mb size).
But for the movies, only short movies can be copied.
For movies above 14 to 20 Mb (don't know the exact limit),
the transfer seems to work (several seconds elaps,
and I see the led of the canon flashing, indicating
a usb tranfer), but at the end of the transfer the
resulting file is empty : 0 byte.
Same problem arises when I perform a drag/drop.
Same problem when I choose "open file" in konqui :
viewer says "error".

Bug#327294: qt4-dev-tools: help menu lauches wrong version of qt-assistant

2005-09-08 Thread Laurent Bonnaud
Package: qt4-dev-tools
Version: 4.0.1-1
Severity: normal

Hi,

on this system both Qt3 and Qt4 development tools are installed. In
linguist-qt4, the Help->Manual menu entry launches /usr/bin/assistant
alternative which points to /usr/bin/assistant-qt3. Unfortunately,
assistant-qt3 is not able to display the help file.

A similar problem exists in designer-qt4.

Of course, either the qt4-dev-tools package or the admin could change
the alternative. But I don't think that would be a proper fix because
linguist-qt3 would then use assistant-qt4. Therefore, it would be
better if linguist-qt4 and designer-qt4 could be patched to launch
assistant-qt4 instead of assistant.

Bug#583877: kde-window-manager: kwin_oxygen_config disable gradients for Iceweasel, Icedove and more Gtk apps

2010-05-31 Thread Laurent Grawet
Package: kde-window-manager
Version: 4:4.4.3-1
Severity: minor
Tags: squeeze

Hello,

In kwin config module for oxygen, gradients are disabled for Firefox,
Thunderbird and Gimp. However, in Debian we should add Iceweasel and
Icedove. Maybe we should add a few more Gtk apps. The ideal would be
to disable kwin gradients for all Gtk apps but I dont know whether
this is possible.

Regards,

Laurent

Bug#564941: plasma-widgets-workspace: taskbar/panel show black background

2010-06-30 Thread Laurent Grawet
Package: plasma-widgets-workspace
Version: 4:4.4.4-1
Severity: normal

Hello,

I'm facing this bug too. I use NX a lot for remote access and I always get
this on the second remote login. This is really annoying ! I thought it
was NX fault first.
When I'm back to local console, I have to switch desktop effects on/off a
few times with alt-shift-f12 to get rid of this. I hope it is fixed in 4.4.5
as it is said on http://kde.org/info/4.4.5.php there is currently no known
bug.

Regards,

Laurent
