Package: plasma-desktop Version: 4:5.8.4-1 Severity: grave Tags: upstream Justification: renders package unusable Dear Maintainer, *** Reporter, please consider answering these questions, where appropriate *** * What led up to the situation? upgrade some packages on debian sid (this week from 28 november to 2th december 2016) * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or ineffective)? try to login in plasma-kde from sddm * What was the outcome of this action? the blackcreen with K icon showed off but hand out indefinitely. However I found a simple workaourd : go to tty1 then back to tty7 and get greeted with the sound of plasma login. However then at some point the panel will stop work and i could only manage to switch from one windows to another going in the to left side of the screen. -- System Information: Debian Release: stretch/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 4.8.0-1-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=fr_FR.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=fr_FR.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) Versions of packages plasma-desktop depends on: ii breeze 4:5.8.4-1 ii kactivitymanagerd5.8.4-1 ii kde-cli-tools4:5.8.4-1 ii kded55.28.0-1 ii kio 5.28.0-1 ii libc62.24-7 ii libcanberra0 0.30-3 ii libfontconfig1 2.11.0-6.7 ii libgcc1 1:6.2.1-5 ii libkf5activities55.28.0-1 ii libkf5activitiesstats1 5.28.0-1 ii libkf5archive5 5.28.0-1 ii libkf5auth5 5.28.0-1 ii libkf5baloo5 5.28.0-1 ii libkf5bookmarks5 5.28.0-1 ii libkf5codecs55.28.0-1 ii libkf5completion55.28.0-1 ii libkf5configcore55.28.0-1 ii libkf5configgui5 5.28.0-1 ii libkf5configwidgets5 5.28.0-1 ii libkf5coreaddons55.28.0-1 ii libkf5dbusaddons55.28.0-1 ii libkf5emoticons-bin 5.28.0-1 ii libkf5emoticons5 5.28.0-1 ii libkf5globalaccel5 5.28.0-1 ii libkf5guiaddons5 5.28.0-1 ii libkf5i18n5 5.28.0-1 ii libkf5iconthemes55.28.0-1 ii libkf5itemmodels55.28.0-1 ii libkf5itemviews5 5.28.0-1 ii libkf5jobwidgets55.28.0-1 ii libkf5kcmutils5 5.28.0-1 ii libkf5kdelibs4support5 5.28.0-1 ii libkf5kiocore5 5.28.0-1 ii libkf5kiofilewidgets55.28.0-1 ii libkf5kiowidgets55.28.0-1 ii libkf5newstuff5 5.28.0-1 ii libkf5notifications5 5.28.0-1 ii libkf5notifyconfig5 5.28.0-1 ii libkf5parts5 5.28.0-1 ii libkf5people55.28.0-1 ii libkf5peoplewidgets5 5.28.0-1 ii libkf5plasma55.28.0-1 ii libkf5plasmaquick5 5.28.0-1 ii libkf5quickaddons5 5.28.0-1 ii libkf5runner55.28.0-1 ii libkf5service-bin5.28.0-1 ii libkf5service5 5.28.0-1 ii libkf5solid5 5.28.0-2 ii libkf5sonnetui5 5.28.0-1 ii libkf5wallet-bin 5.28.0-1 ii libkf5wallet55.28.0-1 ii libkf5widgetsaddons5 5.28.0-1 ii libkf5windowsystem5 5.28.0-1 ii libkf5xmlgui55.28.0-1 ii libkfontinst54:5.8.4-1 ii libkfontinstui5 4:5.8.4-1 ii libkworkspace5-5 4:5.8.4-1 ii libpackagekitqt5-0 0.9.6-1 ii libphonon4qt5-4 4:4.9.0-4 ii libpulse-mainloop-glib0 9.0-5 ii libpulse09.0-5 ii libqt5concurrent55.7.1~20161021+dfsg-6 ii libqt5core5a 5.7.1~20161021+dfsg-6 ii libqt5dbus5 5.7.1~20161021+dfsg-6 ii libqt5gui5 5.7.1~20161021+dfsg-6 ii libqt5network5 5.7.1~20161021+dfsg-6 ii libqt5printsupport5 5.7.1~20161021+dfsg-6 ii libqt5qml5
Bug#846877: plasma-desktop: Sddm can not start kde. Then panel is not working.
Hi, I am a bit doubtful, Regarding the first issue : - the same issue happened both in my laptop without any kind of dual screen ("mac book pro retina 2013" using intel i915 ) and my desktop HP with dual screen (DVI VGA ) using nouveau... -the symptoms seem different : sddm start into the K icon and idle from there (unless I use ctrl-alt-Fx then CTRL-ALT-F7) I can see this on both screen. The suggestion make in the previous mail did not help. -I have no error in the boot log Regarding the second issue : - my up to date sid still show this issue today the 7th of january 2017. Was qtdeclarative updated or not yet ? - When the panel crashes/freeses I can *also* do ctrl-alt-Fx then CTRL-ALT-F7 to restore it in a working state (most of the time...) Personnaly I found it unlikely that 2 different issues have exactly the same work around ? If you want me to test more things please tell me so. The number of "login" pam services is quite limited IMHO (xDM, login, openssh,...) so I'm not sure that waiting for pam-auth-update support for these (#677288) is really needed, for example we have added pam_selinux modules already in all these login services. openssh and gdm are already calling the pam_keyinit.so module for quite sometimes now without any visible complains. Package: qt4-dev-tools Version: 4:4.8.7+dfsg-11 Severity: wishlist Hi, Is there a reason the "assistant" executable is installed in the qt4-dev-tools package and not in an other one? Bug#854260: sddm: Please remove Conflicts= and OnFailure= from sddm.service file
Source: sddm Version: 0.13.0-1 Severity: normal Hi, The debian/sddm.service file contains the following lines: Conflicts=plymouth-quit-wait.service After=systemd-user-sessions.service plymouth-start.service plymouth-quit-wait.service OnFailure=plymouth-quit.service For me the Conflicts= (and the OnFailure=) doesn't make any sense. The gdm.service file contains these line too but only because GDM takes care himself of stopping plymouth. sddm should just wait that plymouth is stopped here and nothing else. The OnFailure= is also redundant here if the Conflicts= is removed as the plymouth-quit.service will be executed anyway. Upstream ships a file in services/sddm.service.in, with After=plymouth-quit.service (like GDM), any reason you have modified this? Thinking about this again, the Conflicts= statement could actually causes issues for other packages that are declaring a dependency against that service. I'm raising the severity to serious

Because it's a developer's only tool. For what I can see this is used to display help/documentation viewer, this is barely a development task. It displays just the Qt documentation, thus purely a developer tool. Well it's also seems to be used for _user_ documentation: "You can use Qt Assistant as the help viewer in your applications. You can display your own documentation and customize Qt Assistant to look and feel like part of your application. You can change the window title or icon, as well as menu texts and actions. For more information, see Customizing Qt Assistant." https://doc.qt.io/qt-5/qtassistant-index.html I myself maintain one application that uses "assistant" to display its documentation, looking in the archive, I see several others (qterm, qtikz,...) that are shipping .qhc/.qch files too. For me it's far from evident that it's a developers tool only. Could you please reconsider your position? It seems to me that providing documentation out of the box to the users (especially to the less experienced ones) is quite important. Regards, Laurent Bigonville

I see in #764184 that qtchooser is apparently a qt4 application, so why would qt5 package depends on it? That doesn't make a lot of sense to me. I see QT5 applications also try to use the "assistant" from /usr/bin that then points to the non existing version of QT4. Wouldn't it be better to force the PATH in libqt5 to also look in /usr/lib/*/qt5/bin if qtchooser cannot be used?

Bug#664808: Please enable pam_loginuid by default
tag 664808 + patch tag 677438 + patch thanks Hello, Please find here attached a patch that fixes both #677438 and #664808. The pam modules should be called in that order: 1) session pam_selinux close 2) other sessions modules including pam_loginuid 3) include common-session 4) session pam_selinux open It's important that the pam_loginuid is located before the include of common-session as pam_systemd module, which is included in common-session, must be called after the loginuid process attribute has been properly set. Regarding the selinux module, if selinux is disabled on the machine of the user, the module is just returning succeed. Bug#506986: [kontact] Charset problem in contacts with IMAP resource
Package: kontact Version: 4:3.5.9-5 Severity: normal --- Please enter the report below this line. --- I am using IMAP groupware functionalities with Kontact. There is a charset problem in contacts when I use the IMAP resource : when I add a new contact with a special character like "é" in the name or in an other field, it is automatically changed into a curious double square character after the synchronisation with the IMAP resource. Bug#677438: Please enable pam_loginuid by default
Hi, So let's try to be more clear about this bug. pam_loginuid is used to track user login. This module is needed by different things: the audit daemon, consolekit and systemd (for the later, the lack of calling this module, produces some nasty issues, like breaking sudo). The module must only be called in login-like services (login, xDM,...) and not in services like sudo as this is defeating the purpose of having a UID per login. The pam-auth-update is currently laking (see #677288) a way to add modules to login services only. pam_loginuid.so module is already present in the libpam-modules package which is Priority: required which means it's installed on every system by default. The module need to be added in between the call to selinux close/open and before pam_ck_connector modules (if they are already present in your pam service file), I also recommend to add it before the common-session(-noninteractive) include. For example: session requiredpam_selinux.so close [...] session requiredpam_loginuid.so << Add it here @include common-session session requiredpam_selinux.so open Cheers Laurent Bigonville -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-qt-kde-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#368049: kamera: can not open/copy big AVI files
Package: kamera Version: 4:3.5.2-1+b2 Severity: important I have just purchased a Canon A610 digital camera, and I manage to access it successfully through gphoto2/usb2.0 (with both front-ends gtkam and digiKam). Note that this hardware is quite new, and not yet precisely recognized by my version of gphoto2). I am quite sure that my camera is accessed through the PTP protocol. However, when I try to use it with the kamera plugin, by typing "camera:/" as URL in konqueror, things do not work properly : I can see all camera files in the konqueror file list, and I manage to copy/paste (or open) all the images (which are about 1Mb size). But for the movies, only short movies can be copied. For movies above 14 to 20 Mb (don't know the exact limit), the transfer seems to work (several seconds elaps, and I see the led of the canon flashing, indicating a usb tranfer), but at the end of the transfer the resulting file is empty : 0 byte. Same problem arises when I perform a drag/drop. Same problem when I choose "open file" in konqui : viewer says "error". -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.4.24-1-686 Locale: [EMAIL PROTECTED], [EMAIL PROTECTED] (charmap=ISO-8859-15) Versions of packages kamera depends on: ii kdelibs4c2a 4:3.5.2-2+b1 core libraries for all KDE applica ii libc6 2.3.6-7 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libgcc1 1:4.1.0-1+b1 GCC support library ii libgphoto2-22.1.6-10 gphoto2 digital camera library ii libgphoto2-port02.1.6-8 gphoto2 digital camera port librar ii libstdc++6 4.1.0-1+b1 The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 kamera recommends no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#327294: qt4-dev-tools: help menu lauches wrong version of qt-assistant
Package: qt4-dev-tools Version: 4.0.1-1 Severity: normal Hi, on this system both Qt3 and Qt4 development tools are installed. In linguist-qt4, the Help->Manual menu entry launches /usr/bin/assistant alternative which points to /usr/bin/assistant-qt3. Unfortunately, assistant-qt3 is not able to display the help file. A similar problem exists in designer-qt4. Of course, either the qt4-dev-tools package or the admin could change the alternative. But I don't think that would be a proper fix because linguist-qt3 would then use assistant-qt4. Therefore, it would be better if linguist-qt4 and designer-qt4 could be patched to launch assistant-qt4 instead of assistant. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers unstable APT policy: (100, 'unstable'), (99, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.12-1-686 Locale: [EMAIL PROTECTED], [EMAIL PROTECTED] (charmap=ISO-8859-15) Versions of packages qt4-dev-tools depends on: ii libaudio2 1.7-3 The Network Audio System (NAS).
