Bug#1102496: kde-spectacle: 'Delay' ignored, no delay before taking screenshot
Package: kde-spectacle Version: 4:6.3.4-1 Severity: normal X-Debbugs-Cc: bugreporter...@protonmail.ch Dear Maintainer, Spectacle offers an option to delay taking a screenshot. This is useful, (as the helptext used to suggest) when you want to take a screenshot of, e.g. a context menu. In the current version, setting this delay has no impact. Spectacle always takes the screenshot immediately as if delay were set to 'No delay'. I'm running KDE on X11 in case this is relevant. A quick workaround is to configure Spectacle to take a screenshot upon start and run `sleep $DELAY; spectacle` in a shell, where you set DELAY to the delay you want, e.g. `DELAY=3` for 3 seconds. I haven't used this feature for a long time, but it did work at some point :-) Regards, Jan -- System Information: Debian Release: trixie/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 Kernel: Linux 6.12.21-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU threads; PREEMPT) Locale: LANG=de_DE.utf8, LC_CTYPE=de_DE.utf8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE=en_GB.utf8 Shell: /bin/sh linked to /usr/bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) LSM: AppArmor: enabled Versions of packages kde-spectacle depends on: ii kio6 6.11.0-1+b1 ii libc6 2.41-6 ii libgcc-s1 14.2.0-19 ii libkf6configcore6 6.11.0-1 ii libkf6configgui6 6.11.0-1 ii libkf6configwidgets6 6.11.0-1+b1 ii libkf6coreaddons6 6.11.0-1 ii libkf6crash6 6.11.0-1 ii libkf6dbusaddons6 6.11.0-1+b1 ii libkf6globalaccel66.11.0-1+b1 ii libkf6guiaddons6 6.11.0-3 ii libkf6i18n6 6.11.0-1 ii libkf6jobwidgets6 6.11.0-1+b1 ii libkf6kiocore66.11.0-1+b1 ii libkf6kiogui6 6.11.0-1+b1 ii libkf6kiowidgets6 6.11.0-1+b1 ii libkf6notifications6 6.11.0-1 ii libkf6prisonscanner6 6.11.0-1 ii libkf6purpose-bin 6.11.0-1 ii libkf6purpose66.11.0-1 ii libkf6purposewidgets6 6.11.0-1 ii libkf6service-bin 6.11.0-1 ii libkf6service66.11.0-1 ii libkf6statusnotifieritem6 6.11.0-1 ii libkf6widgetsaddons6 6.11.0-1 ii libkf6windowsystem6 6.11.0-1+b1 ii libkf6xmlgui6 6.11.0-1+b1 ii libkirigamiplatform6 6.11.0-1+b1 ii libkpipewirerecord6 6.3.4-1 ii liblayershellqtinterface6 6.3.4-1 ii libopencv-core410 4.10.0+dfsg-5 ii libopencv-imgproc410 4.10.0+dfsg-5 ii libqt6core6t64 [qt6-base-private-abi] 6.8.2+dfsg-5+b1 ii libqt6dbus6 6.8.2+dfsg-5+b1 ii libqt6gui66.8.2+dfsg-5+b1 ii libqt6printsupport6 6.8.2+dfsg-5+b1 ii libqt6qml6 [qt6-declarative-private-abi] 6.8.2+dfsg-7 ii libqt6quick6 6.8.2+dfsg-7 ii libqt6waylandclient6 6.8.2-4 ii libqt6widgets66.8.2+dfsg-5+b1 ii libstdc++614.2.0-19 ii libwayland-client01.23.1-3 ii libxcb-cursor00.1.5-1 ii libxcb-image0 0.4.0-2+b2 ii libxcb-randr0 1.17.0-2+b1 ii libxcb-util1 0.4.1-1 ii libxcb-xfixes01.17.0-2+b1 ii libxcb1 1.17.0-2+b1 ii qml6-module-org-kde-kirigami 6.11.0-1+b1 ii qml6-module-qtmultimedia 6.8.2-7 ii qml6-module-qtqml 6.8.2+dfsg-7 ii qml6-module-qtquick 6.8.2+dfsg-7 ii qml6-module-qtquick-controls 6.8.2+dfsg-7 ii qml6-module-qtquick-layouts 6.8.2+dfsg-7 ii qml6-module-qtquick-shapes6.8.2+dfsg-7 ii qml6-module-qtquick-templates 6.8.2+dfsg-7 ii qml6-module-qtquick-window6.8.2+dfsg-7 kde-spectacle recommends no packages. kde-spectacle suggests no packages. -- no debconf information

Bug#803433: [libqt5x11extras5] Crashes all and everything of Plasma.
Package: libqt5x11extras5 Version: 5.5.1-2 Severity: critical --- Please enter the report below this line. --- Yesterday libqt5x11extra5 upgraded to 5.5.1-2 in testing without the rest of qt5 following and Plasma/KDE5 crashed. Everything. Screen locker in the running session, after restart kdeinit, drkonqi that tried to handle the crash, sddm. The backtrace referenced to /usr/lib/x86_64-linux- gnu/qt5/plugins/styles/breeze.so and xcb and I did not see libQt5X11Extras.so in there, but since that was the only (remotely relevant) thing that changed in that upgrade, it was the obvious culprit. And downgrading it back did fix everything. The important point here is that ONLY libqt5x11extra5 upgraded to 5.5, while the REST OF QT REMAINED 5.4. So the version itself may not be broken and may work fine with the rest of qt 5.5. The issue to fix here is just reverting this one package from testing and ensuring all of qt 5.5 enters testing together. --- System information. --- Architecture: amd64 Kernel: Linux 4.2.0-1-amd64 Debian Release: stretch/sid 990 testing http.debian.net 500 wilyppa.launchpad.net 500 unstablehttp.debian.net 500 trusty ppa.launchpad.net 500 testing-proposed-updates http.debian.net 500 stable-updates ftp.cz.debian.org 500 stable security.debian.org 500 stable ftp.cz.debian.org 1 experimentalhttp.debian.net --- Package information. --- Depends (Version) | Installed ===-+-=== libc6 (>= 2.14) | libqt5core5a (>= 5.0.2) | libqt5gui5 (>= 5.0.2) | Package's Recommends field is empty. Bug#945554: Qt5: link against OpenSSL at compile-time
Source: qtbase-opensource-src Severity: normal Version: 5.12.5+dfsg-2 Hi, is there a reason that Debian's distribution package is *not* using the build flag "-openssl-linked" to create a proper DT_NEEDED dependency at compile-time? (Couldn't find anything in the archived bugreports, sorry if this is reopening a can of worms.) The benefits of this flag seem to me: * minimal user surprise: the established mechanisms of library dependency lookup work for Qt as they do for everything else * less code duplication: Qt is effectively reimplementing a subset of ld.so's functionality (with a few provisions to cope with slightly different versions of OpenSSL, if my impression of that code is correct) * the dependency is automatically picked up by dh_* and thrown into ${shlibs:Depends}, no manual tracking necessary In the current state libqt5network5 already depends on libssl1.1 anyway, so we know what library will be "dynamically discovered" by Qt (i.e. we don't need the multi-version compatibility support Qt offers) - it's just harder to interpose the process if you want to, and it throws away the opportunity to use our existing tooling. See this Fedora report (esp. the last comments) for another community having gone through the same discussion[1]. Best regards Jan [1]: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1328659
Bug#950537: lxterminal: wrong default PATH for superuser
Package: lxterminal konsole Version: 0.3.2-1 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer, By working in KDE/LXDE: start lxtermial or konsole. Then $ su # echo $PATH gives: /usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/local/games:/usr/games; what is the same as for nonsuperuser. Hence superuser must type the fullpath like: # /sbin/ifconfig This behavior started in Buster, and is observerd in Bullseye, too. If working in real console (text mode without KDE/LXDE), the superuser PATH is correct. I made my own patch by adding a next row to .bashrc: PATH="/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/bin" This was not observed in Debian 9 - stretch. I didnot tested other GUI (gnome ...) I didnot tested other xterminals (UXterm ...) But the described behaviour may be the same. kdm is missing from the 3.4 packages
Hello, I installed the kde 3.4 packages from alioth. Everything works apart from logging in via kdm. I just saw, that this might be due to missing kdm 3.4 packages, which are not available form the alioth site, althought kdebase metions the 3.4 package. The 3.3 kdm fails with some error message while starting the login screen. Something about kdmgreeter crashed. I can investigate further, but I suspect, thats some internal API changed and so the greeter doesn't come up. Please CC me on replys, I'm not subscribed to qt-kde. Thanks! KDE Plasma network speed display using plasma-nm
Hi, I installed the KDE Plasma desktop included in the new Debian Stretch (9) distribution. I noticed that the network speed display always displayed zero speed despite ongoing network traffic. It started displaying the network speed properly after some time. I think it is because I installed *qml-module-qtquick-xmllistmodel* (to get a plasma weather widget to work). Can somebody confirm this? If yes, somebody should add *qml-module-qtquick-xmllistmodel* to the dependency of *plasma-nm* (correct me if I am wrong). Regards Jan
Bug#755678: kdepim-runtime: /usr/bin/akonadi_kolabproxy_resource missing in package, breaking any setup with kolab integration
Package: kdepim-runtime Version: 4:4.13.1-1 Severity: important Dear Maintainer, After upgrading to the KDE 4.13 packages in experimental, all Akonadi resources based on Kolab silently stopped working. I noticed the problem when trying to add a new IMAP account with Kolab folders. I also noticed that I could neither create new Kolab-based resources nor delete existing ones. Bug#824334: [qtcreator] Should recommend qtdeclarative5-dev and qmlscene
Package: qtcreator Version: 3.6.1-1 Severity: minor --- Please enter the report below this line. --- qtcreator recommends qtdeclarative5-dev-tools, but that package alone is useless to it. To detect QtQuick support, packages qtdeclarative5-dev and qmlscene also have to be installed. Moreover while qmlscene is at least mentioned in the warning in QtCreator settings, it is near impossible to find out that qtdeclarative5-dev also needs to be installed. So please, add these two packages to recommends. Alternatively, those packages could be made to recommend each other. I think it would then still make more sense to recommend qtdeclarative5-dev in qtcreator and the qtdeclarative5-dev-tools in qtdeclarative5-dev than the other way around (neither depends on nor recommends the other currently). --- System information. --- Architecture: amd64 Kernel: Linux 4.5.0-2-amd64 Debian Release: stretch/sid 990 testing http.debian.net 500 wilyppa.launchpad.net 500 unstablehttp.debian.net 500 testing-proposed-updates http.debian.net 500 stable-updates ftp.cz.debian.org 500 stable security.debian.org 500 stable ftp.cz.debian.org 1 experimentalhttp.debian.net --- Package information. --- Depends(Version) | Installed -+-= libqt5sql5-sqlite| 5.5.1+dfsg-16+b1 qml-module-qtquick-controls(>= 5.2.1-4~) | 5.5.1-2 qml-module-qtquick2(>= 5.2.1-5~) | 5.5.1-3 qtchooser| 52-gae5eeef-2 qtcreator-data (= 3.2.0+dfsg-1) | 3.6.1-1 libbotan-1.10-0 | libc6 (>= 2.15) | libgcc1 (>= 1:4.1.1) | libqt5concurrent5 (>= 5.0.2) | libqt5core5a (>= 5.3.0) | libqt5declarative5(>= 5.0.2) | libqt5designer5 (>= 5.0.2) | libqt5designercomponents5 (>= 5.0.2) | libqt5gui5(>= 5.3.0) | libqt5help5 (>= 5.0.2) | libqt5network5(>= 5.0.2) | libqt5printsupport5 (>= 5.0.2) | libqt5qml5 (>= 5.2.0~beta1) | libqt5quick5 (>= 5.1.0) | libqt5script5 (>= 5.0.2) | libqt5sql5(>= 5.0.2) | libqt5webkit5 (>= 5.2.0) | libqt5widgets5(>= 5.2.0) | libqt5x11extras5 (>= 5.1.0) | libqt5xml5(>= 5.1.0) | libstdc++6 (>= 4.9) | libx11-6 | qtbase-abi-5-3-1 | qtdeclarative-abi-5-3-0 | qtquick1-abi-5-2-1 | Recommends(Version) | Installed ===-+-=== gdb | 7.10-1+b1 make| 4.1-9 qt5-doc | 5.5.1-1 qtbase5-dev-tools | 5.5.1+dfsg-16+b1 qtcreator-doc | 3.6.1-1 qtdeclarative5-dev-tools| 5.5.1-3 qtquick1-5-dev-tools| qttools5-dev-tools | 5.5.1-3 qtxmlpatterns5-dev-tools| 5.5.1-2 xterm | 324-2 OR x-terminal-emulator | Suggests (Version) | Installed -+-=== cmake| 3.5.2-1 g++ | 4:5.3.1-1 git | 1:2.8.1-1 kdelibs5-data | 4:4.14.14-1 subversion | 1.9.4-1 -- - Jan Hudec

Bug#793026: kde-window-manager: upgrade to 4:5.3.2-2 generates
I wanted to confirm the existence of this problem and add that the recent KDE updates in Debian Testing paralyze important parts of KDE. For example, today, my wireless got disconnected after upgrading plasma-nm to 4:5.3.2-1 and systemsettings stopped working after upgrading to 4:5.3.2-2 (also see bug #792819). All of such problems can be fixed by downgrading but that isn't a straightforward process sometimes. In short, it seems that there is a GENERAL and SERIOUS problem with upgrading of KDE parts -- a problem that I've never encountered before on Debian. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-qt-kde-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Hi, I'm Pedram (Tsu). Please don't be offended by a rational and POLITE criticism! Otherwise you would make any criticism impossible. I use Debian Testing (with some packages from Unstable) for more that 6 years. It has been stable, secure and fairly up-to-date. Those, who want to maintain/test/have new software, go to Unstable and those, who don't want frequent updates or want to run a server, go to Stable. In short, Debian Testing has never been for testing NEW SOFTWARE but for testing already tested software against the strict Debian standards for Stable. As for maintainers that don't use Debian (NOT all maintainers, of course), I've seen signs of that but will be really glad if I'm wrong. I ask again: If you knew that KF5 wasn't ready for use (and I could write several lines why it isn't), why did you uploaded it from Unstable to Testing? This is a rational question, not a means to offend anyone. You don't have to answer it if that was just a mistake because mistakes happen. I'm just worried about their becoming more that exceptions. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-qt-kde-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? That's an expression of a suspicion based on observation. It's being reinforced by you words (see below). You could deny it but calling it an impolite statement is meaningless, at best. > We the maintainers consider that it's useful enough to start... So, you mean it wasn't a mistake and will be continued for KDE in the future ? You talk about "We, the maintainers" as if it's the rule. It isn't, of course. For example, kernel maintainers don't push every kernel version into Testing. On the contrary, there are several versions that never come to Testing. The same is true for many other packages. > ...but they will never get ironed out if we don't push it to the archive. Could you please explain how they're "ironed" when they're inflicted on the users of Debian Testing? Weren't the users of Debian Unstable enough for that "ironing"? There is a difference between the Testing and Unstable repositories. > I'm using it even on my $job machine. You mean the maintaining job? Yes, of course, you SHOULD have a Debian Unstable for THAT job. By "use" I meant ordinarily using your operating system for any job. An environment, whose CPU usage goes high for no good reason, whose network manager can't remember any password, whose custom shortcuts and mouse gestures are missing, whose file manager crashes once in a while,... is not for use yet. There's nothing complicated about the meaning of the word "use" here. Or do you want to play with words instead of reasoning, as you tried to do in the case of the word "polite", or in another place, where you wrote about Qt4's being "dead"? > If you don't like that, please, use stable. Totally irrelevant to the discussion. Criticizing this way of maintaining KDE/Qt doesn't have anything to do with disliking Debian Testing. This is an excerpt from The Debian Administrator's Handbook, section 1.6.3, Migration to Testing: Every day a program automatically selects the packages to include in Testing, according to elements guaranteeing a certain level of quality: (1) lack of critical bugs, or, AT LEAST FEWER THAN THE VERSION CURRENTLY INCLUDED IN TESTING; (2) at least 10 days spent in Unstable... etc. etc. My point is capitalized in (1); and there is a reason it comes first. Bug#600662: konqueror: passes literal ipv6 address to HTTP CONNECT proxy
Package: konqueror Version: 4:4.4.5-1 Severity: normal Tags: ipv6 Hi, When I try to browse https://www.sixxs.net/ in Konqueror, it issues the following HTTP CONNECT call to my local http proxy[1]: | CONNECT 2001:1AF8:1:F006:0:0:0:6:443 HTTP/1.1 | Proxy-Connection: keep-alive | User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 | Host: 2001:1AF8:1:F006:0:0:0:6 This fails with | HTTP/1.1 504 Host 2001:1af8:1:f006:0:0:0:6 lookup failed: Host not found and Konqueror falls back to IPv4. RFC 2817 says | The Request-URI portion of the Request-Line is always | an 'authority' as defined by URI Generic Syntax [RFC 2396] which I read to mean "IPv6 literals have to be enlosed in square brackets", and indeed, a telnet session shows polipo honoring the following: | CONNECT [2001:1AF8:1:F006:0:0:0:6]:443 HTTP/1.1 However, the IMHO proper solution, which is also what elinks, arora and iceweasel do, is to pass the hostname on and let the proxy do the name resolution: | CONNECT www.sixxs.net:443 HTTP/1.1 This does not only give the proxy more leeway to do its job, it also prevents DNS information leaks e.g. when using TOR, and it will likely fix the broken Host: header automatically on the way. Hello, sorry for missing information above (they were never requested from "reportbug" or i oversaw them). Here they are resp. how to reproduce the problem: - Set view mode to "Columns": Menue View / View Mode / Columns - Enter a directory where you don't have any (or not enough?) permissions, e.g. /root (drwx--) - Now there doesn't occure any hint about the missing permissions. An error message would only occure at the bottom of the window if you are in Icon or Detail view - To the contrary the forbidden directory is opened as a new column - All this makes the user think the directory is not forbidden but only empty Jan -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-qt-kde-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#475825: FTBFS: ERROR: could not build a simple Qt program.
I just reproduced this problem. First, I got the following problem: Checking Qt version...no! ERROR: incorrect Qt version found: **Unknown** The "**Unknown**" strings comes from a call to qmake -query QT_VERSION. This seems to be a problem of qt3: :/tmp/qbrew-0.4.0$ qmake-qt4 -query QT_VERSION 4.4.0-rc1 :/tmp/qbrew-0.4.0$ qmake-qt3 -query QT_VERSION **Unknown** Therefore, there are two possibilites to fix this: Either a Build-Conflicts against qt3-dev-tools, or an explicit call to qmake-qt4 instead of just calling qmake. However, as buildds probably don't have qt3-dev-tools installed, this probably is not the cause of the FTBFS bug. So I tried again in a clean changeroot. Here, I got the following error: /usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lfontconfig This can be fixed by adding CONFIG -= link_prl to the .pro files (qbrew.pro as well as the ones dynamically generated by configure.) With the following patch, qbrew builds again inside a clean chroot: diff -ur qbrew-0.4.0.orig/configure qbrew-0.4.0/configure --- qbrew-0.4.0.orig/configure 2008-04-14 20:25:19.0 +0200 +++ qbrew-0.4.0/configure 2008-04-14 20:26:31.0 +0200 @@ -141,6 +141,7 @@ TARGET = config CONFIG += qt $BUILDMODE CONFIG -= app_bundle +CONFIG -= link_prl QT -= gui HEADERS += config.h SOURCES += config.cpp @@ -193,6 +194,7 @@ cat > testfunc.pro < /dev/null 2>&1 diff -ur qbrew-0.4.0.orig/qbrew.pro qbrew-0.4.0/qbrew.pro --- qbrew-0.4.0.orig/qbrew.pro 2008-04-14 20:25:19.0 +0200 +++ qbrew-0.4.0/qbrew.pro 2008-04-14 20:13:49.0 +0200 @@ -5,6 +5,7 @@ TARGET = qbrew TEMPLATE = app CONFIG += qt warn_on +CONFIG -= link_prl QT += xml MOC_DIR = build -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#476217: Bug#485597: psi vs Qt4.4.0-3 segmentation fault
This definitely looks like a qt bug: I just wrote a relatively simple test program to reproduce it without using psi. The attached files contain a simple application, which just opens a window containing a single QTextEditor, and, from a timer, continously adds '.' characters with the QTextCharFormat::SpellCheckUnderline style. Bug#476217: psi vs Qt4.4.0-3 segmentation fault
Hi Sune, (Cc: to all the other addresses, because just removing the 3 patches may not give meaningfull results.) On Sun, Jul 06, 2008 at 05:51:24PM +0200, Sune Vuorela wrote: > Try on a updated unstable system: > > apt-get source qt4-x11 > open debian/patches/series with your favourite editor and > comment the following 3 patches: (add a # at the beginning of the line) > 72_generic_arch_atomic_header_fix.diff > 73_from4.4.1_no__when_ipv6_disabled.diff > 0230-qtextcontrol-selectnextword.diff > > build. install. test. I just did a similar thing: I did not comment the three patches, but just added a single if(isnan(...)) abort(); for debugging purposes. But now, the segfault doesn't occur any more. AFAICT, there are only two possible explanations: Either the bug doesn't happen with my toolchain (perhaps the compiler version is different than the one used to compile the debian qt package?), or it's some missoptimization by gcc which went away with the additional code line. Next, I'll try it with an unmodified source. If this still 'fixes' the problem, the core of the bug is much more difficult to find. The good news would be, that a simple recompile of qt on an up-to-date system probably would solve (or work around) the segfault. Bug#476217: psi vs Qt4.4.0-3 segmentation fault

Direct comparison shows that the segfault occurs if libQtGui.so is compiled with gcc 4.3.0-5, and it doesn't occur if libQtGui.so is compiled with gcc 4.3.1-1. Therefore I guess this bug is caused by a compiler bug in gcc 4.3.0, and it'll be resolved with the next upload of Qt. Perhaps a proper build-dependency would be good, to assure all buildds use recent enough versions of gcc. Jan -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Bug#523183: kpilot: Dependency on akonadi-server does not create needed resource agents
Package: kpilot Version: 4:4.2.2-1 Severity: normal *** Please type your report below this line *** Dear kpilot maintainers, when installingt kpilot with akonadi-kde uninstalled, I cannot use conduits, because of lacking resource agents. This is also the error message you get by clicking on the "akonadi trouble link" in the config window. Installing akonadi-kde solves this issue, since it contains /usr/share/akonadi/*. I assume, that kpilot should depend on akonadi-kde then, instead of the server only. If I am not mistaken, this is probably true for all dependencies of akonadi. At least for kpilot, the hard dependence could actually be dropped in favour of a suggestion or recommendation: The backup functionality of kpilot is available and working without akonadi. Bug#380751: kdebase: Print key taken by global action "AccessKey" -- cannot be changed
Package: kdebase Version: 4:3.5.4-2 Severity: normal Hi all, since I have updated last night a lot of kde to 3.5.4-2, the Print key, which I had mapped to show yakuake is no longer under my control. Instead it always starts Ksnapshot. I can take it back temporarily by issuing "Block Global Shortcuts" twice: The first time around Print does nothing as expected, the second time around my original Print is restored. When I change the access key (a global shortcut) of yakuake to Print, kde tells me that Print has already been allocated to the global action "AccessKey". When I tell it to change it nevertheless, nothing changes, the complaint is shown the next time as well. After a restart of kde, everything is back to Ksnapshot. Thanks in advance. Bug#347946: Still a problem in 3.5.4-1+b1
Using Debian Testing, akregator have been upgraded to version 3.5.4-1+b1 and shows the same behaviour as described above. It pops up the KDE-Crashmanager saying: "Das Program Akregator (akregator) ist abgestürzt und hat das Signal 11 (SIGSEGV) veranlasst." (in english words: "Akregator crashed and send signal 11 (SIGSEGV") Starting it from the Commandline gives the following error: "KCrash: Application 'akregator' crashing... akregator: ERROR: Communication problem with akregator, it probably crashed." The suggested solution to delete ~/.kde/share/apps/akregator or ~/.kde/share/apps/akregator/Archive didin't solve the problem. Akregator still doesn't start. Regards, Jan

Bug#433136: meta-kde: I see the same since this afternoon
Package: meta-kde Followup-For: Bug #433136 Hi All, since the last update and reboot I see apparently the same problem. If and only if I have keyboard layouts enabled, the keys are messed up in KDE. Disabling them does not negate the effect immediatly but after a new login, I get a correct layout, but of course not the one I would like (us in this case, which explains any wrong x's and y's :-) ). I haven't found any printable characters that were messed up, but the arrow keys are (left is iso 3rd level shift, up is print and the others are NoSymbol if I remember correctly), similarly keypad enter and keypad '/', right alt, which is keypad enter, home which is pause, etc. Gnome complains about aomething like an unexpected keyboard layout on start, saying it got evtdev + forgot and expected pc105 + de. After some fiddling (deleting xorg.conf, which also mandated de) it said it the otherway around, with de replaced by us. I can choose to stay with that or use the gnome settings. Either way gnome freezes and stops loading. In X's log I find the following lines: expected keysym, got XF86KbdLightOnOff: line 70 of pc expected keysym, got XF86KbdBrightnessDown: line 71 of pc expected keysym, got XF86KbdBrightnessUp: line 72 of pc expected keysym, got XF86KbdLightOnOff: line 70 of pc expected keysym, got XF86KbdBrightnessDown: line 71 of pc expected keysym, got XF86KbdBrightnessUp: line 72 of pc Maybe this is completely unrelated but it happened at the same time. Independent of the keyboard layout problem within KDE, I could not switch to a vt using Ctrl-Alt-Fx any more. This problem went away when I simply moved my xorg.conf out of the way, leaving me with a constant us layout, however. As another thing that should not make a difference (famous last words I suppose) is that I extended the de layout manually in /usr/share/.../symbol/de. I checked, that the keyboard layout problems are the same, even if I configure the keyboard switcher to use a different layout and delete de from its list. Thanks in advance! Bug#433136: meta-kde: Problem solved by using evdev in keyboard layout module
Package: meta-kde Followup-For: Bug #433136 Hi Ana, thanks for the hint, that solved the problem for me! More explicitely, as Daniel Stone suggested in http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=442316 I changed the keyboard layout in the KDE switcher from pc105 top evdev and all symtoms disappear. I have not (yet) tried using my old xorg.conf with evdev, but since it had also mandated pc105 that explains my difficulties. I assume this can then be closed or merged. Problems with startup menu.
Hello, I have a problem that "Debian" item disapeared from my start menu in KDE (quite recently, with update from 4:3.2.2-1 to 4:3.2.2-2). The /etc/menu-methods/kdelibs-bin is gone. It is reported by packages.debian.org as being in kdelibs-bin 4:3.2.2-2, but does not exist on my system (was deleted by preinst script, but never created nor does it exist in the .deb). Unfortunately I don't know where the menu resides, so I can't check what is actualy on disk. The strange thing is, that I have two accounts here and one sees the Debian menu empty in kmenuedit (and it does not appear in start), while from the other kmenuedit shows it fully populated (I never run KDE session from that account). I am not reporting this as a bug (yet), because I don't know what caused it. Please, tell me which things I should check. --- Jan 'Bulb' Hudec <> signature.asc Description: Digital signature

Bug#252975: Read messages are set unread / wrong count & save of unread mails
package: kmail version: 3.2.2-2 Greetings, I've some trouble with kmail (from sarge 1.6.2) regarding the number of unread messages in some Folder where list-mails were put to. When I start KMail it tells me, that the number of unread messages is two (for instance). When I open the folder the message-count went up to 32, but much of the unread mails have I read yesterday. I exited KMail whithout any errors or explicit killing. The error (seem to?) appears, when I switched off compression for every folder after upgrading from KMail (KDE version 3.1.4). Bug#318765: libqt4-dev: got broken alternatives symlink for moc
Package: libqt4-dev Version: 4.0.0-1 Severity: minor Compiling a simple test program with qt4 failed with this error message: $ qmake $ make (cd "/src/tools/moc" && make) /bin/sh: line 0: cd: /src/tools/moc: No such file or directory make: *** [/usr/bin/moc] Error 1 The reason is, that I somehow ended up with a broken alternatives symlink for moc: $ ls -al /etc/alternatives/moc lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 20 Nov 5 2003 /etc/alternatives/moc -> /usr/lib/qt2/bin/moc $ ls -al /usr/lib/qt2/bin/moc ls: /usr/lib/qt2/bin/moc: No such file or directory Unfortunately, update-alternatives seems to be unable to correct this: # update-alternatives --config moc There is only 1 program which provides moc (/usr/bin/moc-qt4). Nothing to configure. Of course, the fix is trivial (manually correct the symlink). I have no idea how this happened, but I surely didn't manually mess with the alternatives. Probably some interesting sequence of installs and uninstalls of different versions of qt. If I'm the only one with this problem, just close the report. Bug#327040: libarts1: artsplay stopped working
Package: libarts1 Version: 1.3.2-3 Severity: important Tags: etch Hello, After Etch upgrade on 2005-09-05, artsplay (and xmms arts plugin) stopped working. libarts1 itself was not upgraded on that day. The system was upgraded on 2005-09-01 before and it still worked then. Unfortunately I can't find what packages were promoted to testing during that period. "artsplay stopped working" means it exits with status 1 and only a click is heared. I tried recompiling arts for the (likely) case a binary incompatibility of some library caused this, but it did not seem to help. Bug#573166: libkexiv2-7: libkexiv2 doesn't extract language alternative value correctly
Package: libkexiv2-7 Version: 4:4.3.4-1 Severity: normal Tags: patch The KExiv2::getXmpTagStringLangAlt() fails to extract a language alternative value, no matter what the specified language alternative is. This maybe a bug in libexiv2, however, there is no need for handwritten parsing of the value via detectLanguageAlt() since libexiv2 provides all the necessary functionality for this - see the next point - the proposed mechanism iterates through all language alternatives stored in an Exiv2::LangAltValue instance and selects only the requested one - NOTE: the implementation of KExiv2::getXmpTagStringLangAlt() may also use getXmpTagStringListLangAlt() to extract the list of language alternatives into a hash map and then extract only the relevant item from it. Looks like it is not a translation issue. I switched to American English and it still is displaying "Not available".

Who will patch all the binary packages for buster? Everything in sid that builds against current libssl1.1 and uses TLS_MAX_VERSION will break buster. And if we start patching stuff, who will remember to rebuild and "unpatch" all the packages, once the final libssl11 migrates? IMHO libssl1.1 with the current codebase should move to experimental. For the ABI breakage even with a new package name, until we plan a transition. Otherwise libssl1.1 will probably block a lot of packages. Qt5 is just the first breaking package - I have no idea, how many packages use TLS_MAX_VERSION in their code. And symbol versioning also won't help, as it's no symbol in the shared library sense, but a definition in the header, which would need manual handling AFAIK. openssl-1.1.1~~pre9 $ rgrep TLS_MAX_VERSION | grep ".h:" include/openssl/dtls1.h:# define DTLS_MAX_VERSION DTLS1_2_VERSION include/openssl/tls1.h:# define TLS_MAX_VERSION TLS1_3_VERSION CU Jan-Marek

And since processing a large mail takes time that's > the reason you have long freezes of kmail. No. Sorry, I didn't make myself clear. My situation is: Mail from Web -> Hits Account -> Collected by dedicated server -> Filtered by SpamA on dedicated Server -> Transfered to KMail by pop3 through dial-up line, Wlan or whatever is available. Thus filtering is done on another computer. I don't filter spam with KMail. I use KMail filters only to sepperate different mailing lists. These mails slipped through the filtering infrastructure and were downloaded by KMail. After downloading the mails, CPU load raised up to 100% for a few minutes. Selecting, Moving, etc. of these mails raise the cpu load up to 100% as well. KMail was complete unusable until a delete the mails with "rm Mail/inbox/cur/$mail" Keep smiling yanosz -- Achtung: Die E-Mail-Adresse wird in Kürze deaktiviert werden. I've attached strace to the "kdeinit4: plasma-desktop" process, which seems to be doing continuous loops of: - writev(12, [{"l\1\0\1\31\0\0\0\264\2\0\0\267\0\0\0\1\1o\0E\0\0\0/org/fre"..., 200}, {"\24\0\0\0storage.hotpluggable\0", 25}], 2) = 225 poll([{fd=12, events=POLLIN}], 1, 25000) = 1 ([{fd=12, revents=POLLIN}]) read(12, "l\2\1\1\4\0\0\0L\6\0\0-\0\0\0\6\1s\0\5\0\0\0:1.22\0\0\0"..., 2048) = 68 read(12, 0x1ff9720, 2048) = -1 EAGAIN (Resource temporarily unavailable) writev(12, [{"l\1\0\1\20\0\0\0\265\2\0\0\277\0\0\0\1\1o\0L\0\0\0/org/fre"..., 208}, {"\v\0\0\0volume.disc\0", 16}], 2) = 224 poll([{fd=12, events=POLLIN}], 1, 25000) = 1 ([{fd=12, revents=POLLIN}]) read(12, "l\2\1\1\4\0\0\0M\6\0\0-\0\0\0\6\1s\0\5\0\0\0:1.22\0\0\0"..., 2048) = 68 read(12, 0x1ff9720, 2048) = -1 EAGAIN (Resource temporarily unavailable) writev(12, [{"l\1\0\1\30\0\0\0\266\2\0\0\177\0\0\0\1\1o\0\25\0\0\0/org/fre"..., 144}, {"\23\0\0\0org.freedesktop.Hal\0", 24}], 2) = 168 poll([{fd=12, events=POLLIN}], 1, 25000) = 1 ([{fd=12, revents=POLLIN}]) read(12, "l\2\1\1\t\0\0\0009\1\0\0=\0\0\0\6\1s\0\5\0\0\0:1.22\0\0\0"..., 2048) = 89 read(12, 0x1ff9720, 2048) = -1 EAGAIN (Resource temporarily unavailable) writev(12, [{"l\1\0\1\30\0\0\0\267\2\0\0\177\0\0\0\1\1o\0\25\0\0\0/org/fre"..., 144}, {"\23\0\0\0org.freedesktop.Hal\0", 24}], 2) = 168 poll([{fd=12, events=POLLIN}], 1, 25000) = 1 ([{fd=12, revents=POLLIN}]) read(12, "l\2\1\1\t\0\0\0:\1\0\0=\0\0\0\6\1s\0\5\0\0\0:1.22\0\0\0"..., 2048) = 89 read(12, 0x1ff9720, 2048) = -1 EAGAIN (Resource temporarily unavailable) writev(12, [{"l\1\0\1\30\0\0\0\270\2\0\0\177\0\0\0\1\1o\0\25\0\0\0/org/fre"..., 144}, {"\23\0\0\0org.freedesktop.Hal\0", 24}], 2) = 168 poll([{fd=12, events=POLLIN}], 1, 25000) = 1 ([{fd=12, revents=POLLIN}]) read(12, "l\2\1\1\t\0\0\0;\1\0\0=\0\0\0\6\1s\0\5\0\0\0:1.22\0\0\0"..., 2048) = 89 read(12, 0x1ff9720, 2048) = -1 EAGAIN (Resource temporarily unavailable) stat("/etc/localtime", {st_mode=S_IFREG|0644, st_size=1067, ...}) = 0 stat("/etc/localtime", {st_mode=S_IFREG|0644, st_size=1067, ...}) = 0 open("/etc/fstab", O_RDONLY)= 13 fstat(13, {st_mode=S_IFREG|0644, st_size=1960, ...}) = 0 fcntl(13, F_SETFD, FD_CLOEXEC) = 0 stat("/etc/fstab", {st_mode=S_IFREG|0644, st_size=1960, ...}) = 0 stat("/etc/fstab", {st_mode=S_IFREG|0644, st_size=1960, ...}) = 0 fstat(13, {st_mode=S_IFREG|0644, st_size=1960, ...}) = 0 mmap(NULL, 4096, PROT_READ|PROT_WRITE, MAP_PRIVATE|MAP_ANONYMOUS, -1, 0) = 0x7f8113d0 read(13, "# /etc/fstab: static file system"..., 4096) = 1960 read(13, "", 4096) = 0 lstat("proc", 0x7fffef9e4430) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) lstat("/proc", {st_mode=S_IFDIR|0555, st_size=0, ...}) = 0 lstat("usbfs", 0x7fffef9e4430) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) lstat("/proc/bus/usb", {st_mode=S_IFDIR|0755, st_size=0, ...}) = 0 lstat("/dev/md0", {st_mode=S_IFBLK|0660, st_rdev=makedev(9, 0), ...}) = 0 lstat("/boot", {st_mode=S_IFDIR|0755, st_size=1024, ...}) = 0 lstat("/dev/md1", {st_mode=S_IFBLK|0660, st_rdev=makedev(9, 1), ...}) = 0 lstat("/", {st_mode=S_IFDIR|0755, st_size=4096, ...}) = 0 lstat("/dev/vg/usr", {st_mode=S_IFLNK|0777, st_size=18, ...}) = 0 readlink("/dev/vg/usr", "/dev/mapper/vg-usr"..., 4096) = 18 stat("/dev/vg/usr", {st_mode=S_IFBLK|0660, st_rdev=makedev(253, 2), ...}) = 0 lstat("/dev/mapper/vg-usr", {st_mode=S_IFBLK|0660, st_rdev=makedev(253, 2), ...}) = 0 lstat("/usr", {st_mode=S_IFDIR|0755, st_size=143, ...}) = 0 lstat("/dev/vg/tmp", {st_mode=S_IFLNK|0777, st_size=18, ...}) = 0 readlink("/dev/vg/tmp", "/dev/mapper/vg-tmp", 4096) = 18 stat("/dev/vg/tmp", {st_mode=S_IFBLK|0660, st_rdev=makedev(253, 0), ...}) = 0 lstat("/dev/mapper/vg-tmp", {st_mode=S_IFBLK|0660, st_rdev=makedev(253, 0), ...}) = 0 lstat("/tmp", {st_mode=S_IFDIR|S_ISVTX|0777, st_size=4096, ...}) = 0 lstat("/dev/vg/data", {st_mode=S_IFLNK|0777, st_size=19, ...}) = 0 readlink("/dev/vg/data", "/dev/mapper/vg-data"..., 4096) = 19 stat("/dev/vg/data", {st_mode=S_IFBLK|0660, st_rdev=makedev(253, 1), ...}) = 0 lstat("/dev/mapper/vg-data", {st_mode=S_IFBLK|0660, st_rdev=makedev(253, 1), ...}) = 0 lstat("/mnt/data", {st_mode=S_IFDIR|0755, st_size=120, ...}) = 0 lstat("/dev/vg/var", {st_mode=S_IFLNK|0777, st_size=18, ...}) = 0 readlink("/dev/vg/var", "/dev/mapper/vg-var"..., 4096) = 18 stat("/dev/vg/var", {st_mode=S_IFBLK|0660, st_rdev=makedev(253, 4), ...}) = 0 lstat("/dev/mapper/vg-var", {st_mode=S_IFBLK|0660, st_rdev=makedev(253, 4), ...}) = 0 l
