Bug#270200: kmail forgets passwords for pop3 accounts
Package: kmail Version: 4:3.3.0-2 Severity: normal -BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 Under Settings->Configure Kmail, you can go to the Network button and click on the Receiving tab to specify incoming accounts. If you modify any of these listed accounts to add your account's password so you are automaticallyidentified without needing to specify it every time you want to check your mail mail,Kmail will forget this password after exiting. I suspect that it's simply not being written to some configuration file, because Kmail remembers the password while opened, and forgets after you close. Bug#254951: Reproducing bug #254951
Hello! I've seen the following strange occurence in ~/.kde/share/config/kickerrc after trying to reproduce your "special" behaviour for mozilla-firefox: [ServiceButton_4] DesktopFile=/var/lib/menu-xdg/applications/menu-xdg/wterm.desktop FreeSpace=0 StorageId=wterm.desktop [ServiceButton_5] DesktopFile=/usr/share/applications/mozilla-firefox.desktop FreeSpace=0 StorageId=:mozilla-firefox.desktop [ServiceButton_6] DesktopFile=/usr/share/applications/mozilla-thunderbird.desktop FreeSpace=0 StorageId=mozilla-thunderbird.desktop Note, that after the changes took effect and the session was saved, :mozilla-firefox.desktop was put there instead of mozilla-firefox.desktop, same goes for mozilla-thunderbird.desktop, if you change that. If you edit that file and exit KDE, contents will be the same on startup (so Kicker stores it kickerrc when you go down). /var/lib/menu-xdg/applications/menu-xdg/ is treated differently in this respect than /usr/share/applications (where a lot of the KDE apps reside, too). There seem to be no obvious reason, because both the .desktop files in the dirs have the same permissions and owner: root.root with -rw-r--r--. With kind regards, Oliver Korpilla

(Bugzilla #853, Bob Paauwe). [Alan Hourihane] Speaking of this, I noticed from the list of dependencies of kcontrol that some of your X packages are at version 4.3.0.dfsg.1-6, while many are still at 4.3.0.dfsg.1-4. Once -7 makes it into the archive later today, you might want to do an apt-get dist-upgrade to make sure they all get updated. I hope this helps, Josh

Bug#192506: Still having this problem?
This bug is old (1 year, 122 days at the time that I'm writing this), and I haven't found the problem you're talking about with the huge files left around in /tmp. KAudioCreator 3.3.0 cleans up after itself nicely, these files are gone by the time you exit. Are you still having this problem? -- Morgon.
Bug#270347: Two different patches for this
There's really two different ways to fix this problem, though I think the second one I have here (kaudiocreator-albumtitle.patch) is probably the correct one. For the first solution, apply the kaudiofile-albumvariable.patch patchfile. It adds the %album variable, which is pretty much just a copy of the %albumtitle variable. For the second solution, apply the kaudiofile-albumtitle.patch patchfile. This changes all the old instances of plain %album into %albumtitle, which I think it's supposed to be and got left out or something by accident in some newer release. -- Morgon --- kdemultimedia-3.3.0/kaudiocreator/job.cpp.orig 2004-09-06 18:00:04.0 -0400 +++ kdemultimedia-3.3.0/kaudiocreator/job.cpp 2004-09-06 18:01:35.0 -0400 @@ -44,7 +44,8 @@ map.insert("comment", sanitize(track_comment)); map.insert("year", QString::number(year)); map.insert("genre", genre); - + + map.insert("album", sanitize(album)); map.insert("albumtitle", sanitize(album)); map.insert("albumcomment", sanitize(comment)); map.insert("albumartist", sanitize(group)); diff -ur kdemultimedia-3.3.0.orig/kaudiocreator/encoderconfig.ui kdemultimedia-3.3.0/kaudiocreator/encoderconfig.ui --- kdemultimedia-3.3.0.orig/kaudiocreator/encoderconfig.ui 2004-09-06 18:18:26.0 -0400 +++ kdemultimedia-3.3.0/kaudiocreator/encoderconfig.ui 2004-09-06 18:17:04.0 -0400 @@ -193,7 +193,7 @@ kcfg_playlistFileFormat -~/%extension/%artist/%album/%artist - %album.m3u +~/%extension/%artist/%albumtitle/%artist - %albumtitle.m3u diff -ur kdemultimedia-3.3.0.orig/kaudiocreator/encoderconfigimp.cpp kdemultimedia-3.3.0/kaudiocreator/encoderconfigimp.cpp --- kdemultimedia-3.3.0.orig/kaudiocreator/encoderconfigimp.cpp 2004-09-06 18:17:24.0 -0400 +++ kdemultimedia-3.3.0/kaudiocreator/encoderconfigimp.cpp 2004-09-06 18:16:02.0 -0400 @@ -45,14 +45,14 @@ encPrefs = EncoderPrefs::prefs("Encoder_0"); encPrefs->setEncoderName(i18n("OggEnc")); -encPrefs->setCommandLine("oggenc -o %o --artist %artist --album %album --title %title --date %year --tracknum %track --genre %genre %f"); +encPrefs->setCommandLine("oggenc -o %o --artist %artist --album %albumtitle --title %title --date %year --tracknum %track --genre %genre %f"); encPrefs->setExtension("ogg"); encPrefs->setPercentLength(4); encPrefs->writeConfig(); encPrefs = EncoderPrefs::prefs("Encoder_1"); encPrefs->setEncoderName(i18n("Lame")); -encPrefs->setCommandLine("lame --preset standard --tt %title --ta %artist --tl %album --ty %year --tn %track --tg %genre %f %o"); +encPrefs->setCommandLine("lame --preset standard --tt %title --ta %artist --tl %albumtitle --ty %year --tn %track --tg %genre %f %o"); encPrefs->setExtension("mp3"); encPrefs->setPercentLength(2); encPrefs->writeConfig(); @@ -66,7 +66,7 @@ encPrefs = EncoderPrefs::prefs("Encoder_3"); encPrefs->setEncoderName(i18n("FLAC")); -encPrefs->setCommandLine("flac --best -o %o --tag=Artist=%artist --tag=Album=%album --tag=Title=%title --tag=Tracknumber=%track --tag=Genre=%genre %f"); +encPrefs->setCommandLine("flac --best -o %o --tag=Artist=%artist --tag=Album=%albumtitle --tag=Title=%title --tag=Tracknumber=%track --tag=Genre=%genre %f"); encPrefs->setExtension("flac"); encPrefs->setPercentLength(2); encPrefs->writeConfig(); pgpD8zZSkeXsN.pgp Description: PGP signature

Bug#257196: Patch sort of
"When "%track" option is specified from wizard, the characters "%track" is added instead of track number." I had the same problem with %album - it's not the right variable anymore. %track should be %number now (why the name change I do not know). The attached patch will change the default values for this, but if you have anything besides the default you'll probably have to change %track to %number manually (which isn't really that hard). -- Morgon --- kdemultimedia-3.3.0/kaudiocreator/encoderconfigimp.cpp.orig 2004-09-06 18:17:24.0 -0400 +++ kdemultimedia-3.3.0/kaudiocreator/encoderconfigimp.cpp 2004-09-06 18:34:21.0 -0400 @@ -45,14 +45,14 @@ encPrefs = EncoderPrefs::prefs("Encoder_0"); encPrefs->setEncoderName(i18n("OggEnc")); -encPrefs->setCommandLine("oggenc -o %o --artist %artist --album %album --title %title --date %year --tracknum %track --genre %genre %f"); +encPrefs->setCommandLine("oggenc -o %o --artist %artist --album %album --title %title --date %year --tracknum %number --genre %genre %f"); encPrefs->setExtension("ogg"); encPrefs->setPercentLength(4); encPrefs->writeConfig(); encPrefs = EncoderPrefs::prefs("Encoder_1"); encPrefs->setEncoderName(i18n("Lame")); -encPrefs->setCommandLine("lame --preset standard --tt %title --ta %artist --tl %album --ty %year --tn %track --tg %genre %f %o"); +encPrefs->setCommandLine("lame --preset standard --tt %title --ta %artist --tl %album --ty %year --tn %number --tg %genre %f %o"); encPrefs->setExtension("mp3"); encPrefs->setPercentLength(2); encPrefs->writeConfig(); @@ -66,7 +66,7 @@ encPrefs = EncoderPrefs::prefs("Encoder_3"); encPrefs->setEncoderName(i18n("FLAC")); -encPrefs->setCommandLine("flac --best -o %o --tag=Artist=%artist --tag=Album=%album --tag=Title=%title --tag=Tracknumber=%track --tag=Genre=%genre %f"); +encPrefs->setCommandLine("flac --best -o %o --tag=Artist=%artist --tag=Album=%album --tag=Title=%title --tag=Tracknumber=%number --tag=Genre=%genre %f"); encPrefs->setExtension("flac"); encPrefs->setPercentLength(2); encPrefs->writeConfig(); pgpYa3gqvNJbH.pgp Description: PGP signature

If you have in /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 modes like this: Modes "1152x864" "1280x1024" then you will get Xserver running at 1152x864 resolution, but the desktop size will be bigger. Then you select this option from kcontol and it crashes. THis Virtual desktop can be disabled just by adding Virtual 1152 864 below Modes entry. Then desktop will be the same size as current resolution, and kcontrol doesn't crash. I've attached output from this kcrash, but it doesn't look like something useful. Probably even more interesting is console output: "X Error: BadImplementation (server does not implement operation) 17 Major opcode: 158 Minor opcode: 5 Resource id: 0x8e ASSERT: "d->config" in ../../../kcontrol/randr/randr.cpp (75) KCrash: Application 'kcontrol' crashing...
