I confirm that I'm also having that problem (on Mac OS X).  
Thanks for reporting it.  The only edit I would make to your 
report is to replace 'sometimes' with 'often'.

I've worked around it by creating two QuicKeys shortcuts which 
click the the little forward and back buttons, and assigning the 
arrow keys as triggers.  It works, but less smoothly than the 
'native' arrow keys.

I'm wondering, did I overlook beta test versions of 4.3?  I 
would have reported issues like a mad man.  Maybe we should 
declare the current 4.3 as a public beta, especially knowing the 
two-year span between 4.2 and 4.3.
