Hi, I found a nuisance with stockfish 1.6.2 and Scid's analysis mode.
I analyzed the following beginners game: 1.e4 e5 2.Bc4 Nc6 3.Qh5 {Patzer} Nf6 4.Nf3 {Friend mode after all} h6 If stockfish meets the forced mate it will stop thinking at "depth = 100" and produce a "bestmove" rightaway. I found several resources on the web that say that this is against the UCI "standard" after a "go infinite" as Scid instructs the engine to do. Scid on his part sends a "stop" after the thinking delay has expired. stockfish - in idle state - quietly replies "Unknown command: stop". Next, scid starts waiting for the engine's "bestmove" reaction on his "stop" command. To no avail. And the analysis process is locked up. I played the same scenario with Deep Shredder 11; this goes well in this respect (I saw other problems that may or may not be related to some local hacking that I did while looking for clues...) What to do? Make Scid a bit smarter? Is my info on UCI aspects correct/up-to-date? Cheers, Joost. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The Next 800 Companies to Lead America's Growth: New Video Whitepaper David G.
