Just tried your FEN

1rb2rk1/p1q1bppp/1pnppn2/2p5/3PP3/2P2NP1/PP1N1PBP/R1BQR1K1 w KQkq - 1 10
bm e4e5;

and it is indeed reproducable with quite a number of engines :( I tried

ok: Shredder 9
ok: DeepShredder 11, 12
ok: Crafty 23.0
ok: Toga II 1.3.1

no: Homer 2.01
no: Fruit 2.3.1
no: Glaurung 2.2
no: Stockfish 1.6.2
no: Robolito 0.085f1

There is something funny going on here, however, if I just use the bare
engine. I did not send any engine parameters, just fired up the engine,
issued uci, isready and postion command, and, if I came to that the go
infinite.

Fruit 2.3.1:
----------------
uciok
isready
readyok
position fen 1rb2rk1/p1q1bppp/1pnppn2/2p5/3PP3/2P2NP1/PP1N1PBP/R1BQR1K1
w KQkq - 1 10
board_from_fen(): bad FEN (pos=61)

Stockfish 1.6.2:
----------------
uciok
isready
readyok
position fen 1rb2rk1/p1q1bppp/1pnppn2/2p5/3PP3/2P2NP1/PP1N1PBP/R1BQR1K1
w KQkq - 1 10
go infinite

Glaurung seems especially strange as it can't decide if it is a mate in
one(!?) or a usual position where it comes to a conclusion.

So, indeed the engines crash.

<utterly confused>

I'd have some understanding for a hot needle engine such as robolito
seems to be one, but Fruit 2.3.1 confuses me. Still, I fear this is no
problem of Scids. I'll keep digging, but maybe we've an expert here who
has an idea what's going on?
