I don't know what happened but this morning (after no rebuilds of SCID or the
engines involved), when I paste a starting position into SCID and try to start
Stockfish-1.6.3 the engine analysis window appears and a few lines of analysis
are shown and then I get a popup saying the engine crashed. When I run that
same engine under Xboard and start analysis on the same position, it runs just
fine. Same holds true for IvanHoe V66 (crashes under SCID -- or so SCID is
claiming anyway). Rybka-3 which used to work fine under SCID, now just sits and
does nothing when attempting to analyze a FEN position; a different behavior,
but broken from a user perspective all the same.

packages were upgraded) but I thought that rebuilding SCID from scratch
would address any library changes that may have come along with those
updates. I even rebuilt Stockfish-1.6.3 from source as well since the updates
but that also did not affect the behavior.
I have tried several different FEN strings and they all result in the same
behavior.
The log file from SCID for engine1 shows this:
<snip> ...

I run other engines (Komodo, Crafty 23.2, RobboLito 00085g3l for example) just
fine on these same positions under SCID. Last week (last time I tried analyzing
some FEN positions) this all worked fine for all engines under SCID. Any
suggestions are greatly appreciated!
My OS is Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic Koala) 64-bit.
