Ok, I loaded Redhat 8.0 a week or so ago and
everything was fine. However, I cannot compile the kernel....I get one of
two messages: either a drivers error or a modules error. The thing is
though that this happens on the Vanilla kernel, the basic Redhat kernel, and the
most recent Redhat kernel in various configurations including the original
one.
I talked to someone else who said it was a gcc3
problem, that the redhat kernels would only comile on gcc2.9~ not the
gcc3. Why is this? What do I do to fix it? A kernel recompile is vital for
me at the moment, but this is a pretty major problem so....yeah. Any
advice would be appreciated.
