The only reason to avoid a full-blow distro for routing and/or firewalling is security. LRP (and similar) run in RAM, so you don't have to worry about someone hacking your box--a simple reboot will set you back to your configured defaults from write-protected media. You also don't need to worry about someone compiling code, using other services, or otherwise behaving badly, since you pretty much have a kernel, some drivers, a text editor, and nothing else. That said, Red Hat (or any other full distro) will work fine as a router or firewall. It's just a question of how much time you want to spend securing the environment. -- "The only thing that helps me maintain my slender grip on reality is the friendship I share with my collection of singing potatoes." - Holly, JMC Vessel *Red Dwarf* -- redhat-list mailing list unsubscribe mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]?subject=unsubscribe https://listman.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/redhat-list
