Hi Brenden!
I've seen some server structure like:

/home/htdocs
www.domainname1.com
www.domainname2.com
www.domainname3.com
www.domainname4.com

every one of four has his own ftp name and password
which is allowed them to access only their directory

for ftp domainname1 www.domainname1.com becomes root directory
make changes, upload and delete directories and files,
create new directory, files, etc.

how it could be done - i do not want to give them root
privileges

Regards, Sergei.

/usr/local/apache/htdocs permissions are not likely to allow write access to
anybody except root (unless you changed them).
