I think some of the confusion is over the fact that there seems to be a presumption that every new exploit needs a new fix, when in reality the fix has been in place for a while. There probably is little logic in issuing a statement saying 'we are not releasing a fix for this, because we already have released a fix for this'. The lesson is just to stay regularly updated.
