Michael,

Tried the aliases you suggested, but for some reason, when I rebooted, I
got ptserial errors and my card modem disappeared.

This is my entire modules.conf file:

alias parport_lowlevel parport_pc
alias eth0 3c59x
alias usb-controller usb-uhci
alias char-major-10-179 xsvc
# for pctel modem
alias char-major-62 ptserial
below ptserial pctel
# country code for pctel modem
options ptserial country_code=33
alias sound-slot-0 i810_audio
post-install sound-slot-0 /bin/aumix-minimal -f /etc/.aumixrc -L
>/dev/null 2>&1 || :
pre-remove sound-slot-0 /bin/aumix-minimal -f /etc/.aumixrc -S
>/dev/null 2>&1 || :

I copied your lines from the email in Ximian and pasted them into
modules.conf using gedit. When I pasted the aliases under the the alias
sound-slot-0 i810 audio line, it generated the error, and placing it
before that line also generates the ptserial error.

Any suggestions?

Susan
