You could run X without a window manager. Just put the single command netscape in ~/.xsession. Then when Netscape is closed the session ends. You could add commands to ~/.xsession, after the netscape command, that clear the cache and history files, and overwrite the config files with fresh read-only copies owned by root. Then each user could surf without worrying about the person after them reusing their cookies or seeing their pages or URLs. Then you only have to setup the account to auto-login and respawn when logged out. There should be a way to do that by editing the runlevel 5 line in inittab. I would probably use runlevel 4 instead, since it is not otherwise used on Red Hat systems. I looked at using Galeon like this # # my ~/.xsession file # galeon --fullscreen http://some_url/ ...some cleaup commands and it worked as expected. When I closed Galeon, the session ended.
